I'm asthmatic. That's offensive. Asthma kills for gods sake. Inhalers are not evil - they are bloody brilliant.

I'd much much much prefer to take a puff of a tasteless spray than put a load of yukky gunk in my body.

lastuseraccount123 · 13/08/2015 20:46

I am also ashmatic and use that inhaler. I'll stick with medical science thanks.

mermaid ha ha, good idea

Bettyberry, Thats terrible, making out inhalers are a bad thing. My flbots just announced her business is now officially Global. She has received a cheque from fl in euros and posted a photo of it on fb, pieces of the envelope placed over the payment. Made me laugh, cant be that much cuse they usually like to brag. Smile

tribpot · 13/08/2015 21:12

Does that advert actually say something negative about inhalers? All I can see is a list of other products, which no doubt FL would claim you should take alongside your conventional medicine?

acatcalledjohn · 13/08/2015 21:12

She received a cheque in Euros?

That's a great help, what with its devaluation over the last, say, 6 months. She would have gotten about 85-90p for each €, but now she'll only get about 60p for each €.

I bet FL do that on purpose GrinShock

acatcalledjohn · 13/08/2015 21:14

The inhaler thing is pretty awful though. I would be a goady fucker and challenge her. I do it often enough on our local selling pages...

Groovee · 13/08/2015 21:14

Unfôrtunately the post had gone, it had been reported to me as admin and I think the lassie who posted deleted it by the time I got back. The girl seems to be doing everything, act idem, wraps, and anything that means she can stay home I think.

bettyberry · 13/08/2015 21:48

tribpot There is no connection between supplements and an improvement in asthma. No beneficial diet. Plus all the benefits listed underneath are temporary. Fleeting if that. Inhalers provided sustained relief esp when it comes to relaxing the air ways, reducing inflammation.

Its the fact none of what is listed is backed up with a paper to prove it. No citations. Nothing bound in hard facts.

plus her ad itself states 'I want to cover asthma' she has no medical qualifications so shouldn't be suggesting anything to treat asthma, even along side actual medicines like inhalers and antihistamines to reduce the effects of allergic asthma.

Its the connotations. Showing a kid struggling with an inhaler and a list of products underneath... Anyone who hasn't suffered the severe complications of asthma (relentless chest infections, asthma attacks etc) would probably think its great. Lets try it! we can cure this pesky thing :/ its a sensitive spot for me because of you know... nearly dying and maybe because I worked in advertising and have used similar tactics selling frivolous stuff.

acatcalledjohn you bet I did! I may have spammed the ad with links to various medical journals and the fact there isn't any link between diet, supplements and improvement in asthma apart from Vit D but that could be down to many being deficient to some degree. I suspect my comments will be deleted.

tribpot · 13/08/2015 22:12

Sure, I realise the ad wants to imply all the FL crapola is better than an inhaler but stops short of actually saying so. Shame she deleted it, I would have let it stand along with your evidence that aloe doesn't cure asthma.

acatcalledjohn · 13/08/2015 22:23

They always do. I've been deleted/blocked several times.

I challenged some teeth whitening stuff recently, as the pictures showing the stages were taken using different filters/lighting/angles.

Apparently this was slander.

lastuseraccount123 · 13/08/2015 22:27

pfft. slander.

the before and after photos are hilarious. One of my bots did a before and after of the FL make up - the second photo was clearly deliberately over-lit.

OP posts:
bettyberry · 13/08/2015 22:30

Thats how it works though. You can get away with so much more if you don't actually say it because the connotations are a grey area and a little harder to prove because everyone interprets something a little differently. Its not impossible and many of the big brands do get the sharp end of the ASA. Still, Its clear to many that's what the ad is suggesting and the worst of it is none of these people who just grab images from the web and hash them together have any idea that they could potentially be fined or worse. They get so so defensive when you point it out to them. 'but its true it does this!' no, that's anecdotal evidence and you have to say that it is.

bettyberry · 13/08/2015 22:34

yep! I can tell that too with the photos acatcalledjohn photoshop is their friend but its also incredibly easy to spot ;)

One of my comments is still up :D

The rest got a fair bit of abuse and then it was all deleted Shock actually not shocked but you know...

lastuseraccount123 · 13/08/2015 22:35

betty agreed.

Shout out to PamelaD on netmums who is bravely posting, in spite of getting stick from FLbots, about the downsides of FL. you go girl.

lastuseraccount123 · 13/08/2015 22:36

ooh nice one betty

OP posts:
acatcalledjohn · 14/08/2015 08:37

Ooh, Betty, you dared point out it was cheaper elsewhere. I like you.

Grin
bettyberry · 14/08/2015 08:53

haha my rant has gone! 10 likes then it was deleted.

Yes, I always point out the alternatives and specifically ones with the IASC stamp because you know... the FL owner is on the board and if that isn't endorsement I don't know what is ;)

My flbot is getting miffed with me. Told her to change her settings. If I don't see her posts then I wont comment.

'but Its my business and I need to advertise'

Told her to pay for one in the local ads page like everyone else

tribpot · 14/08/2015 09:15

Maybe [http://www.terrafermamedia.com/why-you-shouldnt-use-a-personal-facebook-profile-for-your-business/ this]] would help?

tribpot · 14/08/2015 09:51

Damn, let's try that link again

acatcalledjohn · 14/08/2015 10:05

It's an interesting read.

Thing is, these people are so blinkered that they refuse to believe/accept/listen to anything which doesn't suit them.

Myusername2015 · 14/08/2015 15:03

Hahahaha I'm a forever rep! Only joined to get the discount but this is the funniest thread ever and so true!

lastuseraccount123 · 14/08/2015 15:20

myuser YESSSS. We were hoping for someone inside the FLborg would come and give us the scoop!

welcome, welcome

OP posts:
Myusername2015 · 14/08/2015 15:29

I fear I could be lynched if the powers that be found out. Where to start! My manager who is paying for her own ticket to the "free forever holiday" next month as it will look good for prospective people joining; the "training" where you pay to listen to how to "not take no for an answer" even if someone says no to the "opportunity" clearly they just don't understand what they are turning down.,,so you just keep ringing them even if they block you; you Just go round to the house GrinYou get blocked from the pages if you say anything negative and you're meant to contact 10 new people everyday. Oh yes and team training hahahaha sometimes I log in as it amuses me greatly. I have so many tales!

tribpot · 14/08/2015 15:32

Goodness me. We have a rogue borg, this is exciting! But do make sure you don't say anything identifying, Myusername - I am assuming there is something contractual about whistleblowing (or rather about not whistleblowing).

Myusername2015 · 14/08/2015 15:39

Haha no they don't employ me I just buy a few bits for personal use occasionally so don't think whistle blowing counts here. (I have a good job that I'll be leaving soon obviously when I convince enough people to come sell aloe) in all fairness I like the products, what I don't like is the culture it creates of false dreams. Yes some people do extraordinarily well out of it that I know personally but the majority just spend their hard earned pennies driving goods around; alienating friends and working all kinds of anti social hours. So if anyone wants to join my team? SmileGrin
