Are people claiming back the o/d interest too?

One last question... can I claim back when they have charged me £30 for a direct debit bouncing? (or is it easier to leave it off for the sake of one occasion???)

Thanks for the reminder. I will get my act together and send my request this week.

scatterbrain · 22/11/2006 11:30

I haven't claimed the o/d interest back - but I did use the interset calculator on the action webiste and asked for the whole whack back - ie all the charges plus the interset.

Am with First Direct and sent my letter last week. have had an acknowledgement so far.

Am also awaiting list of charges from Co-op Visa account.

So many people have been paid back now !

Flamesparrow · 22/11/2006 15:30

I'm going to have to look at the interest calculator. So far its not as much as I was expecting (still enough to make it worth doing though!), but we are still waiting for DH's account and I think that that is the one we were using most when things were really cr*ppy for us.

Wow,just read through this thread and last one and amazed. Have found out HSBC are going to charge me £125 in 3 days for unauthorised overdraft and won't waiver this as I phoned up and asked.....wages go in on 31st and as well and as I'm on SMP thats a huge chunk gone! They did offer me a loan thought to pay it back

So phoned them back and they're sending me a list of charges for last 6 years! ha, bet it'll be loads as in last 6 years have graduated from uni and had 3 lots of mat. leave so will be loads I'm sure.

Fully intend to do this and then do DH's bank account which has been ok last few years but was terrible 3 or 4 years ago.

Jelley · 29/11/2006 09:25

I've finally done the letter to request all my old statements.
Posting it today.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 29/11/2006 16:52

Started my claim in July for £1900 charges that occured over a 12 month period when I was on mat pay

Just got settlement letter from sols

£2500 which includes interest and court fees i paid of £220

If that doesnt spur you on nothing will!!

Happy Christmas

Flamesparrow · 29/11/2006 16:57

How do I work out the interest? My charges work out at £675 and £400 (two accounts). I'm not sure what to send as the evidence thingy either - they sent me statements... do I just send back the highlighted pages?

I told her i was looking at the site and Forst direct, barclays, lloyds, hsbc had all heard of it etc and not just c/cards, but she wasn't having it she was very arrogant

Flamesparrow · 30/11/2006 11:06

Oooooooooh that would make me even more determined!

OP posts:
CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 30/11/2006 11:30

Dont know what happened with my post last night? sorry for duplicates!!

Yes thats the right site

They ALL say its for credit cards only. They would though wouldnt they? Who wants to pay out!!

I have been told to sign confidentiality statement.Ha

They dont want anyone to know about this but 100's of people like me on the Consumer site (see link below) have gone through, or are going through this procedure and have been succesful. One woman on the site got 17,000 back as there were problems with a 10k loan that she defaulted on and she got everything back!!When I was going through my claim I never had a doubt they would pay up as every negative letter I recd was the same as everyone else was getting. The site is very good for support and advice.I suggest everyone wth bank problems log on now and check it out!!

good luck

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 30/11/2006 11:34

ps

i was in a desperate situation when i was on mat leave exactly three years ago just before xmas. bank being b*stards and taking £30 off me when I went £2 overdrawn! Once it started, as we were on one wage things went from bad to worse and my babys first christmas was a worrying one.Now shes three and thanks to this, she will have a christmas to remember!

Flamesparrow · 30/11/2006 11:41

Ours would be enough to clear the last bit of a loan we are paying out - which would then give us £110 a month spare to pay off the other loan/the overdraft.

I will do the interest calculation thing this afternoon.

Just read some of the original thread. This is amazing! Sorry if its already been said but has anyone claimed and got anything back from LLoyds?

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 30/11/2006 19:59

Yes got offer of over 2k yesterday

sweetkitty · 30/11/2006 20:07

Well done chocolate peanut

I have sent my letter off requesting 6 years statements from the Halifax, has anyone else dealt with them?

They charged me £60 for being £1.20 overdrawn for less than 12 hours a few months ago [angry[ when I had noticed I had gone overdrawn I borrowed the money, ran down to the bank with the DDs, waited in the Q to put the money in and they still charged me and told me there was nothing I could do about it.

vitomum · 30/11/2006 20:17

well done chocolatepeanut that is most inspiring. I have been meaning to do this for ages. Have read up on it through the Martin Lewis website. He does strongly advise to set up another bank account in advance. I would be interested in hearing if people have needed this? i can't be arsed changing banks and this is holding me back. i am with Royal bank of scotland in case anyone has any experinece of them
