Scousejo1967 · 02/07/2015 16:26

Anyone help still waiting for compliance check from concentrix called them
Last week to update my working hours too. Got payment yesterday and it's gone up I presume the 30 hours element but how can it go up of they have not done the check yet .., so bloody confused

Morgan97 · 02/07/2015 16:32

Scousejo, they still don't know what they're doing do they. I'm still on my mission to get media involved but no reply from anyone yet. Surely this is worth a big mention. Even though a few have got things sorted there's still some myself included that have had their payments stopped. Disgusting behaviour on their part. Cutting people off and not replying to our letters it's an absolute joke!

smokie19 · 02/07/2015 16:35

GreenishMe · 02/07/2015 16:52

Has anybody here received their 'no change' letter before receiving their documents back? Received my letter today but my documents still haven't been returned....don't know whether I should worry or just be patient.

Twirlypoo, I know this is going off topic, but once you've got this Concentrix shite over and done with I'd organise your business records if I were you. The Inland Revenue do random checks on businesses roughly every 3 years and they'll be requesting similar sort of info from you about your business when it's your turn.

Start raising numbered invoices for EVERY job that you do, even if you don't actually post out invoices to the customer you need an invoice number which relates to each payment into your account.

I'm not trying to worry you - I just know from past experience that keeping proper records that you can refer back to if needed will make things a lot less stressful for you in the long run.

12fedup12 · 02/07/2015 16:54

Greenishme when they closed my case on the phone yesterday I was told I will get the letter before I get my documents, apparently there is a two week backlog to return documents

smokie19 · 02/07/2015 17:04

Bunnyjo · 02/07/2015 17:04

Twirlypoo, DH is self employed and was sent a very similar request and ours has all been sent back with no changes to our Tax Credits, so I may be able to help.

Firstly, try not to panic - if you have kept HMRC informed of any changes then it should be a simple process.

Summary/diary of bookings: We enclosed invoices which detailed the hours worked. DH did not have a diary of bookings as such, but he had regular work and invoices requesting payments for almost every week (see below for reasons why a couple were missing).

Invoices: We were actually missing a couple of invoices from City Link (DH subcontracted to them before they went into receivership). City Link used to create the invoice for DH and he then sent them to payroll, but obviously in the latter weeks there were massive problems within the company and this fell by the wayside. So we submitted bank statements highlighting the payments from City Link and explaining why some invoices were missing. Obviously, they understood and, as City Link are no more, we cannot do anything to generate the invoices. We were also missing invoices from the hire firm DH uses for his vehicle, despite requesting them numerous times! Again, we just highlighted these payments on the bank statements.

I imagine, if you enclose bank statements and highlight the payments, they may be happy with that. Either way, they will get back to you if they need further clarification.

A breakdown of hours worked each week: This one is going to be harder to overcome. Basically HMRC want to know that you have been working the minimum hours weekly in order to qualify for Tax Credits. If your hourly rate works out to being below NMW, they are going to want reasons why. So for example you work 25 hours per week but, by the time business expenses are deducted, your hourly rate is closer to £5.50ph, then they are going to be very suspicious.

Registration documents for vehicles: Send whatever documents you have and request new registration documents from DVLA urgently.

As for using your business account as a personal one, if it is a proper business account, then you really shouldn't. I would go through all your statements and highlight the business transactions.

I enclosed a breakdown on a sheet of A4 for each month, detailing income and expenditure (with both broken down further) and also enclosed all the evidence I had to support that.

Please do this ASAP and send via special delivery - HMRC will work with you if you communicate with them, but if you ignore them they will stop your payments. Good luck.

I got my documents back on June 22nd (dated june 6th) with a letter saying we will contact you soon about a decision, but still no decision! I did get paid on Tuesday though. My close date was June 20th. I haven't got the energy to ring, or the time to be on hold for an hour of my life! I was hoping it was a good sign I'm still getting paid but now I'm not so sure. However, if they scanned my stuff on June 6th and I got it back June 22nd, where is my decision? Morgan, you got paid for a while didn't you? I've had 5 payments since I sent them my info. Did you get your stuff back and continue to get paid? Well done to all of you for whom this nightmare is over. Until next year any way x

12fedup12 · 02/07/2015 18:33

Stresshead have you tried calling hmrc and asking if your renewal has been processed x
I really hope this will be over for you soon x

stresshead99 · 02/07/2015 18:40

No fed up, the day I rang concentriX May 26th, I rang HMRC, they just referred me back to c. I think next week when my son gets out of hospital, I'll ring. But how long will they keep paying me without a decision? Do they decide then send it to HMRC or do they send it to HMRC to decide Should I not have heard by now? My end date was June 20th? I really have to focus on the boyo for now x

12fedup12 · 02/07/2015 18:56

They decide then close case and sent back to hmrc to finalise renewal.
Efergie had her case closed by them yesterday morning and mine was closed in the afternoon and we both phoned hmrc this morning and was told our renewals had been processed this morning and letters being posted today.

There are no ques when calling hmrc so if you do want to try calling them and asking if it has been finalised you should get straight threw.

Hope your son will be ok, having this on top of a sick child os horrendous xxx

When you send your supporting documents you really need to make sure you are organised because just 1 number/figure or miscalculation in their workings out could mean an error stopping your payments. So send as much as you can, but not enough to confuse them lol.

babyalan13 · 02/07/2015 19:29

Well fed up am so pleased for you!! I no how worried you were. Its such a relief. Good luck everyone. Its the waiting game is the worse!! But stay strong. I haven't received documents or award notice yet

12fedup12 · 02/07/2015 19:41

Thank you baby, just waiting for letters to confirm and for my documents to be returned, really glad I spoke to hmrc this morning and found out renewal is done as that just confirmed that it was over without having to wait for the letter from concentrix.
I actually slept last night I had forgotten what that was like.
Hope you enjoyed acdc yesterday baby.

Ladies I will keep posting on here to offer you all the support that I was lucky to recevie while this was going on.

twirlypoo · 02/07/2015 20:17

Bunnyjo that is what is terrifying me! My business is a franchise and has only been set up 7 months. My most income works out at 3.50ph and my least at 0.33ph. I am so scared they will say I'm trying to fiddle them when I'm truly not. I wish I'd never bought this bloody franchise, I'm so sick of being worried about money all the time, but I'm tied into it now for another 4 years :(

twirlypoo · 02/07/2015 20:19

I'm hoping that because I'm early stages they will see I'm building my client base up, and also that through my advertisements etc they will see I am trying to gain new accounts and that I am actually working for those hours, I'm just not earning through them yet.

Mel25murf · 02/07/2015 20:26

Twirlypoo

Out of interest, what kind of franchise is it? Maybe we could give you some ideas?

Mel25murf · 02/07/2015 20:29

P.S. As it's a new start up(7months) you should be ok for now(before Universal credits are phased in all over the UK). I think for the first year it's expected that business might be at a loss whilst building it up, however you definitely need to get your accounts in order, so that if anything like this happens again, you won't get yourself all stressed out and will be able to provide the information fairly easily even if it is a hassle.

twirlypoo · 02/07/2015 20:42

Yup, this has def shown me I need my accounts in order. I'm normally so organised, but I feel like I haven't had chance to catch breath yet.

Thank you for reassuring me, I have been so thorough in providing anything they could possibly ask for that I'm hoping they will be able to see im trying.

At the risk of outing myself, the franchise is a home help business. It provides cleaners / housekeepers / elderly care support workers and mothers helps to people. I charge say £11ph and keep £3 of it, and then the staff member gets £8ph (or more for certain roles) it means that as I get more clients and have more staff working I will build up my income, or, as is now in the early stages, I am broke Grin

Mel25murf · 02/07/2015 20:57

Ahhh I see! Could you not take some of the work yourself, so that you can get paid the 11p/h for yourself to keep afloat until you can take on more clients?

Mel25murf · 02/07/2015 21:02

How are you working out your hourly rate as unless you only have 1 person working for you, it seems quite low?

twirlypoo · 02/07/2015 21:03

I have been for some clients, but for others it isn't appropriate (some clients like the idea of having a manager so wouldn't want me doing their cleaning if you see what I mean) I seem to be bidding for new leads about twice a week but not getting them, which needs looking at. I'm more expensive than local independents, but cheaper than other agencies. Sorry, I've detailed the thread here - thank you so much for your kind words. Hoping to post this tomorrow by recorded delivery and then for it all to go through painlessly (crossed fingers, toes, legs and arms!)

twirlypoo · 02/07/2015 21:07

I'm working it out as my monthly income divided by 160 hours per month (40 hrs pw)

I have more than one person working for me, but if each new contract is (on average) only 2hours per week, so it is slow to build up. The ballpark figures the franchise gave me initially have not proved to be anything like reality!
