They want:
details of the type of work I do / nature of my business
All bank statesments for personal / business / joint accounts.
unique taxpayer ref
summary / diary of bookings and appointments I have taken
copies of all advertisments placed
a breakdown of the hours I work each week
invoices for any work I have done
registration documents for vehicles used for busienss
details of trade / business qualifications
evidence of class 2 national insurance registration.
My problem areas are:
Summary / diary of bookings / appintments. - I keep crap records so am scared that I don't have this info. I am going to do a sample week and hope that that is ok. Do you think it will be? The man on the phone I got through to about a fortnight ago suggested this but I just don't trust them
Invoices - not all my clients want / need them. Some of my elderly clients dont realise we are paid help as such, they just think we pop round (invoices goto their relatives, but if a standing order is set up, a lot say not to bother sending them) would you retrospectively invoice? It would honestly take me days to do, but I don't know whether I should or just send what I have and explain??
A breadkdown of hours worked each week - I usually do 9-3, then paperwork etc in the evenings. I don't know what they want me to do / say about this. Do they want me to account for each hour?
Registration documents for vehicles - I cant bloody find it!!!!! I can provide car insurance details (with business on) and documents related to the body wrap I had put on with my business info on, but not the actual bastarding document!!!!
Has any one any experience of this? I am also worried as I just used the business account as my own, depending on where the money was. So there are mcdonalds payments etc out of it that are clearly not for business. I hadn't even realised this could be a problem until the bank manager printing my statements off for me told me.
If anything, this has shown me that I am too bloody disorganised. I need to pull my finger out :(
