Hello please help if you can , I am worried sick , I got a letter from the above , the letter states We need to talk to you about whether you are living with a partner , I claim tax credit as a single person , they are saying that they have evidence that there may be another ault living with me , I do have a bf whom stays 3 days a week , they wish me to call , and are asking in the letter for Bills, tent from 06 April 2014 to Jan 2015 , scared they are going to horrible on the phone not sure what to make if it , feel sick , any tips or help would be great thank you

Oh and child maintenance isn't taken into account unless of course they've changed that now.

Yes that's my only problem with blanking stuff Morgan, it may make matters worse but I actually have families sort codes n account numbers on the statements where I've either transferred money to them or vice versa n they are not happy at random people seeing their bank details, why don't they realise this will be problematic to people.
I think we should arrange a trip to number 10, pity we couldn't get a reaction to this before the flaming election , we ll end up like the ladies from the ford car factory, stating our rights, lol . Keep your chin up Morgan we are all behind you .

Mimz I'm near Manchester but I'm from London origianally my dad lives near forest hill in south east London so a trip to number 10 would be easy enough from there.KittyKat just blank the details out,like you say they don't need to see everything I'm sure they will tell you in it's wrong. They're not backwards in coming forwards that's for sure. They don't care I can't buy my dd new school shoes n she has to go to secondary school in trainers,they don't care I have to choose between paying my share of bills to keep a roof over our heads or eating. No one wants to help they all say contact your mp I did he tried. Go to CAB they gave me a form that no one replied to. Loving the support on here thank you x

I'm up north as well, Newcastle but that wouldn't stop me going to number 10, lol. What's your next step now Morgan? Wish we had more constructive advice for you. If you put a new claim in would they maybe accept your evidence then, I Know that sounds a bit stupid but they don't sound like the most intellectual bunch to deal with. I was also wondering Morgan if they are saying they don't believe your single are they accusing you of fraud and therefore are they going to be asking you to repay anything? You would definitely need legal advice then Morgan.
This radio 4 thing that's been mentioned, has anyone listened to it and did it give any good advice?

Morgan97 I was thinking what kittykat60 said aswell, not so much about paying it back but about whether it might affect any other benefits you may be on as do they inform eg. dwp of their findings?

Kittykat60 i'm sure your sons dla won't be stopped. my ex husband gets dla for our youngest son and doesnt receive any other benefits. plus that situation i told you about with the dwp. My dla wasn't affected cos that's a separate entity entirely honey

Oh yes they're asking me to repay just over £7000 REALLY I wonder how I'm supposed to do that!! Not been accused of fraud though YET n not heard anything about how I'm supposed to pay it back either,god knows what my next move is,thinking of writing yet another letter stating my case,the last letter was one of complaint telling them I know they've received my letters giving them them dates times n who signed for them. Am going to seek legal advice as something's nt quite right. WHY accept the same evidence in 2012 but not accept it this time. I sit here silently fuming. Should I write telling them I'm seeking legal advice or just go to a solicitor first. My heads spinning with this it's dominating my life. I now face being made homeless on top of everything.

Morgan97 thats ridiculous. If i was in your shoes i'd go to the solicitors first to find out exactly where you stand and what can be done about it. That way you may have ammunition when you do get in touch with them, or like i said before they may write a letter for you. That's what I would do

I'm going to town on tues n see what I can sort out so fingers crossed I'm so angry with tax credits they're so rude n patonising. When I first rang after they stopped my money the guy I spoke to actually told me to make a joint claim itch the guy whos house I share I asked him so you're telling me to lie about my circumstances,he hung up on me forgetting I'd already got his name it's the first thing I so when I ring them ask for their name dickheads they are!!

Omg Morgan! How on earth have they worked that figure out? What a disgrace, yep definitely go n see a solicitor that should take the onus off you a bit and they will do all the contacting on your behalf, maybe that ll scare the shit out of them. Fancy telling you to make a joint claim when you've told them repeatedly your single. I'm beginning to think this is luck of the draw who looks at your award . I wish the papers would get involved. I know isn't it disgusting I even told them that in a letter n gave the guys name but like I said no replies. Makes you wonder what they're up to. I've been on a site called tax credit casualties they imply tax credits play some sort of cat n mouse game to see who gives up first,been nearly five weeks without tax credits now and I'm getting to the point of no return I take the view if you want something doing then do it yourself. Loads of ladies on here haven't had their award changed which is a good thing but I can't give up on this I've been truthful from the start even pointing out I've never hidden the fact I share my home with another adult,,like I said my situation isn't the norm but reading on here there's a few who share their home with another adult who isn't their partner. If I shared my home with another woman would that mean I'm gay,not that I have anything against gay people but please they seem to be clutching at straws I think

That's exactly what I mean Morgan I think it depends on who looks at your case as it seems some people have kept their tax credits yet others haven't and they are in a very similar, or even the same position . Without sitting in your home with you for a number of days or weeks how the hell do they know for sure that you're in a relationship and yes, if it was a female would they then say oh well you must be gay ! It's pathetic!

I'm in a similar position to you Morgan, I also received a letter on Thursday and since then haven't slept and eaten right I'm just feel so sick with worry... My situation is myself and ex partner have a shared ownership home (mortgage and rent) we took this out in dec 07, things didn't work out between us in the space of couple of months I stayed in the house with the kids and I pay my mortgage/rent etc dd, he is currently in no fixed abode so stays here 3 nights a week to spend time with his daughter rest of time it's friends house or family etc.. (We remain good friends)He is listed on my council tax bill for last yr and this year as he can be classed as living here all his post wage slips are under my address but I'm not in a relationship he simply provides for his daughter I can't get his name off mortgage as I would loose my home that I work hard for I'm so stressed out don't know what to do.. I feel so violated in all the years I have been getting tax credits I've never had an issue...how can I prove we are not a couple? anyone else in a similar situation

I've no idea how to prove I'm single Li81nor,I've given them everything I have they change things all the time things are that bad I'm having to rely on food parcels do depressed but I can't give up.KittyKat I've even put it to them if I shared a house with ten people would that mean I had. their disgraceful behaviour and pressuring tricks have resulted in me being on antidepressants and anti anxiety medication, which Im not going to be able to afford after this. They just dont care theyre putting peoples health in jeopardy!!! without the tax credits im left with less than £15 a week to live on and that has to get me to work too!!! theyre complete scumbags, making judgements on peoples lives that they know fuck all about

Omg! Admiral has yours been stopped as well? It's shocking that they are making us all bloody ill, with our kids to look after and living on our nerves and trying to act normal for them so they don't worry. It's absolutely disgusting.

Yes it's shocking how many of us are left with nothing by trying to do the right thing. I've been up since 5 worrying myself into the ground,not knowing where or who to turn to its awful. My stomach has that just been kicked feeling all the time.

Good morning everyone I've started a new thread Tax credits will stop. Please read and support me in this if the TORY'S get in this week Tax credits WILL STOP. Don't let these greedy bastards in again (scuse the language) they really won't help us they help the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

Not much support on the other thread, well bet they have a different point of view when they ve had their money stopped or even just put under all the stress for weeks we are all under !
