Just a thought but does anyone know if there's anything else I can do to prove I'm single although I share a house with another adult who isn't my partner,I don't pay rent but pay towards utility bills(which aren't in my name) plus council tax, food, toiletries and clothes. My wtc and ctc has been stopped be because they don't believe me and the evidence I sent wasn't enough although I sent the same evidence in 2012 in sooooo confused

Katy69 · 06/04/2015 20:25

Morgan can you maybe get a letter written by the person who you share a flat with or . Get them to call Concentrix . This is about the best you can do if they hear from this person direct Or if the flat is owned by an agencey or landlord. Get them to write a letter confirming this . Maybe they can call too , get them to do it ASAP. Don't waste any time and hopefully you should get your money backdated .

AdmiralCLingus · 06/04/2015 22:05

Katy now they've closedthecase they won't backdate it (or so I've been told...who knows what to believe anymore?) Apparently we have to open a new claim, but I don't know where we stand with getting it backdated on a new claim.

They're an absolute shambles, its so disgusting they've left us in this position!!! I've had to accept a parcel from the food bank I volunteer at to put food in my daughters belly because "its not our problem" (yes, they actually said this)

I STILL haven't received any of my docume nts back, but considering they give you 30 days from the date of the penalty notice to appeal, stuff the documents and I guess I'll have to worry about that later!!!

Morgan97 · 07/04/2015 08:03

Katy69, I already sent a letter from the person who's house I share explaining how much I pay each month n what it's for, they returned this last week along with everything else I sent. I've found a site that has quite useful information it's called tax credit casualties, definitely worth a look my life's falling to pieces it feels so out of control.

ReallyNotMe · 07/04/2015 20:50

Temporary I was sent a second letter which was identical to the first (also regarding childcare costs). I was then told several times that this is what they do when you have not provided enough evidence - why they can't write you a letter spelling out what extra you need I have no idea!

Also conversely to what you were told, the adviser I spoke to really stressed that they needed me to provide proof for this tax year as opposed to the forthcoming one.

Anyway I have re-sent all my original documents (they apparently failed in the scanning process and were sent straight back to me!!) so who knows what will happen next :(

tgirl14 · 13/04/2015 16:32

Well I finally received my documents back along with a letter stating they do not need to change my award. The laughable thing is the letter was dated 20th March!! Took 24 days to get to me!! Also it was returned in the normal post in a ripped envelope but luckily for me everything was there. I hope this won't happen every year!!

Morgan97 · 13/04/2015 17:27

So pleased for you tgirl,I really don't think they actually know what they're doing tbh. I had a payment for child tax credits on 20th march, they then stopped my payments I only found out when I checked my bank on 26th march, rang and was told my award was closed. Received a letter about a week later dated 20th march informing me it was closed as the evidence I sent wasn't sufficient ( incidentally I sent the same evidence in 2012 and that was enough) so nearly four weeks with no wtc or ctc. Absolutely fuming and am on a mission so any ideas as to what to do would be helpful. Am genuinely pleased for all that got it sorted.

Katy69 · 27/04/2015 15:31

Looks like this post has died down a bit. , just wondering if anybody as heard back yet. Any news or letters? I'm still waiting on my decision letter. Been waiting since middle February. . Do you think they are still sending letters out? Looks like they have made a total cock of of things it's now almost May !!!

Morgan97 · 29/04/2015 11:54

I've heard back Katy, they've stopped my claim done it four weeks ago due to lack of evidence for my SINGLE claim, yet I sent the same evidence in 2012,I've now written to them four times in four weeks sent recorded delivery and they've received them but still got nothing back from them. Got my mp involved but he can't do anything til after the election although he sorted a food parcel out for me n said tax credits said my case is awaiting mandatory reconsideration. It's an absolute joke I'm now in debt n face being homeless cos I can't pay my share towards the bills. I share my home with another adult who ISN'T my partner but they don't believe me it's an awful situation.

Katy69 · 29/04/2015 14:32

I'm really sorry to hear that Morgan. That's an awful situation to be in. I mean how much more do you have to prove you are single . Does this other person who lives with you have a partner elsewhere ? Maybe they can get them involved. I know it sounds a bit desperate to go that far but I'm sure you can try. . Just a suggestion. Fingers crossed for you.

Morgan97 · 29/04/2015 14:38

No Katy he has no partner,he always writes a written agreement each year so I sent that n the receipts he gives me for my contribution to the bills n council tax so I sent them too,the annoying thing is that this happened in 2012 n there wasn't a problem I'm at the end of my patience now I don't know where to turn or what to do its so frustrating not hearing from them, not one reply how rude are they!

josephsmummyleeds · 30/04/2015 14:01

hey. so I called HMRC today to amend my little ones nursery hours from 30 hours a week to 19.5 hours. After waiting 40 minutes I was told my 'case' had been passed to Consentrix. I called them, and they said that they could not make the amendment until on the day of the change. They said they had sent a letter out to me in the post a while back (which I have not received) and I needed to send the following in: A letter from my nursery and receipts. I don't keep receipts, as I have never had to before, and its going to look dodgy as hell because I will be amending it on Monday anyways! Has anyone else had this issue in regards to a childcare provider? I don't understand why I have been picked out! I live on my own with my 2 year old little boy, I work 16 hours a week and I study aswell. Just another stressful matter to deal with!

Cinders32 · 30/04/2015 19:08

I'm still waiting for a decision received all my paperwork back in March and still waiting for decision, I dread each months payday but this month when I checked I had extra did anybody else get any extra money?

Morgan97 · 30/04/2015 19:14

Cinders I had an extra payment for child tax credit on the 20th march, they stopped all my tax credits on the 26th march,I found out when I checked my bank so I rang n hey told my claim had been stopped i didn't receiv a letter telling me this until a week later,I'm still trying to sort this out, four letters sent to them in as many weeks n still no reply.

Cinders32 · 30/04/2015 20:23

Hi Morgan was that payment with your normal payment or seperate?

tgirl14 · 30/04/2015 20:46

If anyone is watching question time tax credits and child benefit are on the line if the Tories get in again please people get out and vote against them if you want to keep them x

Morgan97 · 30/04/2015 21:41

Cinders I used to get wtc and ctc on a Thursday the extra payment I got was for ctc on the Friday then they stopped it all the week after

Morgan97 · 30/04/2015 21:46

Missed question time tgirl will NEVER vote for Tory scum they don't care about normal people they're just interested in making the rich richer and the poor poorer. I'm disgusted over tax credits treatment about my case they're scum too I've done everything they asked and they're not budging, they accepted my evidence in 2012 but won't accept the same evidence now but my circumstances haven't changed. And they haven't got the decency to reply to any of my letters. They've left me in debt and facing being homeless they don't care.

Cinders32 · 30/04/2015 22:15

Morgan I got mine with my normal not seperately am so stressed thinking about all this keep checking the post everyday and to be honest dread the postman coming too, things will get better soon Morgan.

Kittykat60 · 01/05/2015 07:42

I've received one yesterday, funny thing is I received my tax credit renewal Wednesday and had just posted this prior to returning home to this!
It's very similar to a letter that was dished out couple of years ago where you had to ring them up, this is just so extreme it's unbelievable all the info they want, no wonder there are so many worried mothers out there, I'm another one now as my situation isn't probably clear cut in their eyes.
Thank god I've found this thread for support, would just like to ask Morgan how she's bearing up? Can't imagine the worry your going through Morgan .

Morgan97 · 01/05/2015 08:11

Cinders if you got it with your normal payment it could have been cos of end of financial year. KittyKat yes I got my first letter in 2012 asking to ring then sending evidence no change to my award then, same letter this year sent same evidence they say its not enough so stopped it. Worry doesn't come close to how I'm feeling, like KittyKat my situation isn't as clean cut but it hasn't changed, this thread has helped me and others i would have gone mad without it lol. Does ANYONE know how you can prove you're single???

Kittykat60 · 01/05/2015 10:03

It's ridiculous that they make their mind up that your in a relationship because you share a house or maybe share a bill with someone or the fact that you or your ex may still have a joint mortgage to retain a financial interest in a property , what exactly are they looking for on these bank statements? Fair enough let them see any bills coming out but I feel like blanking out all my other transactions, what has it got to do with them, would they see that as a sign of guilt though.
I'm so stressed, didn't sleep all night and haven't even begun to sort out any thing they ve asked for

Morgan97 · 01/05/2015 13:42

KittyKat god only knows what they look for on bank statement maybe to seeif someone dares to help you out financially I expect when I sent my bank statement I wrote down what things were for ie payment from my sister that she sent to help buy my ticket to go see my dad! Maybe that's why they stopped my claim. Are you still getting your tax credits? I actually wrote to them asking if I shared a house with ten adults would that mean they were all my partners no reply from that either. Try not to stress too much it won't make any difference I know it's not easy but take it from me it really doesn't make the situation any better. Hope you hear from them soon.

Tango78 · 01/05/2015 15:01

I have received a letter from Concentrix yesterday asking for bank statements from 6.4.14 - 5.4.15, council tax bill etc I have no objection in sending them the information but I had a compliance check in Dec 2014 by HMRC and they wrote in January to say there would be no change in my award. I telephoned Concentrix yesterday afternoon and surprise, surprise there systems were down so I telephoned again this morning and asked if I had to send it again and yes they want it again because it wasn't Concentrix who wrote last time and eventhough it's for the same reason, well I thought they were working on behalf of HMRC! I've enclosed a letter stating that a check has already been done and as seen as they're supposed to share information with HMRC they should be aware of it. Luckily, I kept the previous information I sent so have not had to print it all off again. I think they must be targeting all single parents but the letter makes you sound guilty from the start and I have nothing to hide as I proved before and think it's ridiculous that they're checking through the same information.

mimz87 · 01/05/2015 16:57

I had a letter aswell yesterday. Was really worried until i came on here. And after phoning them THREE times and being told that they didn't have the manpower to go through all the info on bank statements and that the letter claiming they had evidence of another adult at my address was standard I now don't give a flying fuck. They're unprofessional, untrained arseholes who are scare mongering people hoping people will trip themselves up. I personally have been single since my divorce in 2009 and asked if it was because I'm still in a married name status and was informed that they had no evidence and it might be someone else still on the electoral role at this address. Personally I don't feel this warrants my sending in all the information they are requesting based on if's, but's and maybe's. Morgan97 i really feel for you. Your situation is awful. You can get a legal consultation with a solicitor for free on the first instance. Maybe that might help in giving you more information on your legal right's that you could go back to them with?
