ok, i know i am spendaholic, and need to stop. i have over 8k of unsecured debt. most of that was from before Peter fell ill, some of it is due to spiraling costs with him being in hospital. All payments are being met, but now dd2 dla has stopped (we are going for reconsideration), tax credits will go down (not sure how much by) and i could well have screwed up massively. I can clear over 2-3k straight away if i sell my car and my collectin of bears. But Peter says not to, as we wont get their full worth. But i dont know what to do. I am pulling the belt in as much as possible (all i need to buy for the next week or so is veggies, milk and some bread ingrediants.) and will be ebaying anything that stays in one place too long. but I am so annoyed that i got too complacent again. Its so easy to bid on things without thinking and paypal it. i want to shut down my paypal account but i dont know if thats possible. DD2 could well be reinstated within 11weeks(!!!) but i know they could just refuse it totally.

I dont know if i want advice or just a rant.

sorry but have to agree re playhouse. your post says you are screwed financially. to my mind that means not enough cash to pay bills or buy food. this appears not to be the case.

2 cars!

happy to be slagged off for my views, but i don't think you can call yourself "screwed"

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:09

I know you have a lack of space Misdee, am not disputing that.

Am just annoyed at the double standards on here tbh.

SaintGeorge · 19/04/2006 13:10

The playhouse is bought, done, dusted, end of.

misdee has subsequently realised the depth of the problem and is working hard at resolving it so why can't this stay constructive instead of judgemental?

Blossomhill · 19/04/2006 13:11

Tutter and nutty agree totally with what you have said.

The term screwed financially is not what applies here. To be screwed you wouldn't have money to eat, pay rent etc.

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:12

The point is the delivery of ti could have been cancelled if Misdee is indeed screwed financially, but it hasn't so how screwed can she be.

I will leave this now as people obviously think i am being offensive and judgemental. It is my opinion, you know that thing everyone on here is entitled to, not just some.

Tutter · 19/04/2006 13:13

why is it done, dusted, end of?

refund?

noddyholder · 19/04/2006 13:13

Misdee if you don't have sufficient space to store peters stuff in damp free conditions he would probably stay in hospital for his treatment so I assume with outside playspace you can use a bedroom as storage.I know when I was doing dialysis at home they came round and checked it all out and ds had to sleep in our room for ages while we enlarged understairs bit to fit all the boxes Ignore these people talk about kicking someone when they are down.I am sure you are not the first person who has overspent when under stress and you won't be the last xx

misdee · 19/04/2006 13:14

oh fuck off.

OP posts:
fuzzywuzzy · 19/04/2006 13:15

Most places don't allow monetary refunds just because one has changed ones mind, usually you get gift vouchers, which is probably not much help to misdee right now.

LIZS · 19/04/2006 13:16

I agree that if misdee had been saying she couldn't pay rent, council tax etc due to her current level of expenditure then the situation, and advice, would be different.

noddyholder · 19/04/2006 13:16

Well said Misdee! How can anyone split hairs about a bloody playhouse when you are watching your husband go through heart failure whilst looking after 3 little girls and one with SN I must say I am shocked at these attitudes I hope none of them are ever in the shit

Tutter · 19/04/2006 13:18

i'm not aware of misdee's childrens' health issues and am sorry to hear about them, really. but this post was about money and economising. wasn't it?

SaintGeorge · 19/04/2006 13:19

Exactly fw and the thing was paid for cash so I see that pretty much as a done deal.

All besides the point IMHO anyway.

misdee has made a promise to her girls. With the utter shit of a year they have all had I can fully understand why misdee will never consider taking that from them.

If misdee was still spending on sky, ebay, buggies etc whilst also posting on this thread I would join the judgemental amongst you.

Until then, leave the girl alone for once.

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:19

Charming.

Sorry but you can't get pissed of about people not agreeing with you being broke when you are spending over £200 on a playhouse.....so tough.

People who are really broke wouldn't even dream of buying it in the first place.

cod · 19/04/2006 13:20

i do think that missdee iss confusing BUyying what the kids woudl kike with necessitites

Blossomhill · 19/04/2006 13:21

I am stunned at the attacks on here.

Advice was asked for and advice given.

No one has been nasty or spiteful. Just giving advice.

Tutter · 19/04/2006 13:21

attacks?

i can only see one person being abusive

Socci · 19/04/2006 13:21

I think I can see why misdee would feel like she's "screwed financially" because when you are used to living on a certain amount of money and it suddenly gets cut it probably does feel that way. And it is hard to be hundreds of pounds a month out of pocket for what ever reason.

I do, however agree with nutcracker that people are treated differently on here - some are more liked than others and this has a bearing on how others respond. fwiw I don't think anyone has been judgemental - just responded to the thread in a way they feel will help.

That's just my perspective. I won't critisize anyone for spending on whatever - we all buy things we dont need (I've decided no more wine for me!).

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:22

My kids are having a shite time at the mo, and they are both nagging for a trip to Butlins. They haven't had a break since god knows when so I think i'll not pay my loan this month and take them shall I ???

If I posted that you'd all say well yeah but they don't really need a break do they, take them on a day out instead.

Blu · 19/04/2006 13:23

Misdee -good for you in taking so many money-saving manouevres in the face of the loss of the DLA.
Please let me know what car you have - I'm thinking of changing mine and one that does 300 miles on £23 worth of petrol sounds great!

cod · 19/04/2006 13:23

yes and misdde DOes put up wihta lot at home BUT no one wants her to go into debt tyriong to keep the dds happy at HER expense.

honestly

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:23

and am not comparing my kids situ with misdee's before anyone posts that.

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:24

Thats what i'm trying to say Cod, debt will only add to the problems, surely.

cod · 19/04/2006 13:25

oh yes and GOD i woudl be the same if i was in misddess hsoes

her post was

"I dont know if i want advice or just a rant. "
well the answer is just a rant for if you advise you get a rant

LadySherlockofLGJ · 19/04/2006 13:25

Ok can we leave this please ?

This place is a melting post and that is what makes it unique, we all have different opinions, different standards, different values, different religious beliefs.

We are never going to all agree.
