ok, i know i am spendaholic, and need to stop. i have over 8k of unsecured debt. most of that was from before Peter fell ill, some of it is due to spiraling costs with him being in hospital. All payments are being met, but now dd2 dla has stopped (we are going for reconsideration), tax credits will go down (not sure how much by) and i could well have screwed up massively. I can clear over 2-3k straight away if i sell my car and my collectin of bears. But Peter says not to, as we wont get their full worth. But i dont know what to do. I am pulling the belt in as much as possible (all i need to buy for the next week or so is veggies, milk and some bread ingrediants.) and will be ebaying anything that stays in one place too long. but I am so annoyed that i got too complacent again. Its so easy to bid on things without thinking and paypal it. i want to shut down my paypal account but i dont know if thats possible. DD2 could well be reinstated within 11weeks(!!!) but i know they could just refuse it totally.

I dont know if i want advice or just a rant.

if we sell mine and then peter gets a transplant we lose his car, leaving us carless, and peter post op isnt going to be up to much. Ideally i need to be in a position to purchase a family sized car after transplant. i may get more for my car trade in than a private sale. Its stupidly cheap to run, can do well over 300miles a on full tank, which is about 23 pounds to fill up. I do use it for hospital runs if i am not taking peter out. If i am then i use his car.

my kids arent getting anything else for 10years lol1

OP posts:
misdee · 19/04/2006 11:22

25pounds lockets. you'd need to collect it tho, as there is loads of stuff to go with it, and it'll be v v v expensive to box up and send.

right, i am off to go and feed the ducks. nice cheap activity for the afternoon (i have half a loaf of home baked bread that didnbt get used.)

expatinscotland · 19/04/2006 11:24

The fees were only £7/car for our boot sale and the baby stuff sold VERY well. Great for selling off the stuff that's too bulky to post.

I made £97 and was pretty chuffed.

noddyholder · 19/04/2006 11:43

Misdee I really feel for you Sell all your stuff you don't use and don't buy any unnecessary things for a while.BTW you will be glad of the playhouse when Peter gets home as there is a massive amount of stuff to come with him I did home dialysis for a while and we lost a whole room to boxes of antiseptics and leads etc etc A playhouse would have been a godsend You will also need it after the transplant as girls can play in there while he rests Can't believe people would judge someone in your situationSad

cod · 19/04/2006 11:44

we arent noddy odn tget shirty! :)

bundle · 19/04/2006 11:49

misdee if you would like some fabric to make curtains for your playhouse, just yell, i have heaps at home Smile

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 12:09

Sorry noddy but Misdee is posting to say she is financially screwed so imo shouldn't be spending £200 on a playhouse whatever her situation. Being in debt isn't going to help her is it.

Anyone else on here in debt gets jumped on if they even mention they might buy something they don't really need.

Call me judgemental if you like, i really don't give a stuff.

cod · 19/04/2006 12:09

oh nutty you are so judgelmetal

arf

;)

noddyholder · 19/04/2006 12:12

You are judgemental The playhouse is already bought and believe me she will need extra space because the medical supplies for his machine will be delivered in bulk and it is loads!I do think she needs it Sorry

SparklyGothKat · 19/04/2006 12:15

Misdee's bungalow is tiny, she can barely move in it. she does need the playhouse purely for the space, though if she really didn't I would tell her to cancel it as well.

expatinscotland · 19/04/2006 12:15

some outside space would be GREAT.

expatinscotland · 19/04/2006 12:18

sorry, wrong thread!

misdee · 19/04/2006 12:46

dd3 has already been turfed out of her room and some of her boxed up as Peters hospital has been put in her room. I cant sell my big buggy as its the only one sturdy enough to carry his spare amchine when we go out and is being adapted to carry the machine. So i have a baby in my room who been sleeping in her room for over 9months. Loads of stuff has had to packed away, i already have got packed up my big dining room table for a smaller more compact one. I am considering packing away the PC and using Peters laptop only which he sent home as the wireless connection was v high last month.

my bungalow is tiny. my kids can barely play in their rooms as space is soo tight.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 19/04/2006 12:49

start flogging stuff left and right!

our flat is dinky and only two bedrooms and no outdoor space, so i flog and flog frequently so it doesn't build up and then the space feels even smaller for all the gear that's in it.

have a good clear out and you'll feel miles better.

nutcracker · 19/04/2006 13:08

IMO a shed would be fine.

I don't care if you think I am judgemental. Like I said other people on here are jumped on if they so much as consider spending £20 or something when they have debts.

If i posted saying I was in debt but wanted to buy a £200 playhouse everyone would say don't be so stupid.

misdee · 19/04/2006 13:08

i amot moving on the playhouse.
