You don't need one of these so called specialist firms to do it.

I have received an offer of £4221 from M&S in the post this morning.

All it took was a letter asking for my original signed application and then a claim form.

I started the process on 30th October and received my offer today for the cost of some paper and a couple of recorded delivery envelopes.

I am still waiting to hear from a couple of other lenders but what a fantastic start to the weekend.

Very strange as after I got rebuttal letter from capital one (drafted another one to them) then a further one to egg (they returned 1st one) egg then sent me a generic letter re PPI.

Lloyds are right sods I did get a payout but 2 other loans I don't know when or what they were for. Also I can't chase during work lunch eggnog I did try their line was always busy! So got holidays soon can chase up.

Don't give up. And also check if its being charged on new loans etc i found out my new (paid off) lloyds loan had if added automatically and I was furious!

Shakey1500 · 28/05/2013 21:22

So, anyone had any success with The Ombudsman? I have had very nice letters apologising for the delay. I'm with Barclays.

friendly · 25/06/2013 23:08

This is such an interesting thread. I got dh to ring lloyds to see if we'd been sold ppi on our loans. We've had 3 but the lady said no ppi. I'm being silly to even doubt she's telling the truth aren't I? Lloyds are in enough shite. We have had so many cc over the last 15 years Blush I'm not sure here to begin...

Shakey1500 · 09/08/2013 23:53

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Had a letter from the ombudsman and they've upheld my complaint. Barclays will be making an offer in the next 8 weeks. I'm thrilled and it only took almost a year and a half

big thank you to all the people on here giving advice & info Thanks

WhyMeWhyNot · 16/08/2013 09:33

This thread inspired me. I just spent 37 minutes on phone calls to 3 companies (6 accounts). Found I had PPI on 4 of them and process to reclaim done over the phone.
So easy. They were falling over themselves to give me all the information!

Shakey1500 · 22/08/2013 18:53

Cheque arrived today £4123.09 Grin

etubrute · 22/08/2013 20:45

TSB total payback £7050.53p! Used it to pay off some other smaller debts which technically we wouldn't of had if the robdogs hadn't been sneaky...total amount of cash freed up each week....£120! A bit gutted that it went in 1 hand and out the other but we have only had £20 'free cash' (weekly) after bills and food shopping for the past 4 years so this is heaven Smile we wont be stressing about uniforms this year!

Happiestinwellybobs · 23/08/2013 12:50

Another one saying thank you for encouraging me to finally look at this. Two forms - most questions we answered "don't know/can't remember" so really wasn't holding out much hope. Just been offered just over £4.5k - for less than 30 minutes to fill the forms in. So chuffed Grin

WhyMeWhyNot · 17/09/2013 16:33

Quick update from 16 aug. made phone call on that date to my bank, they said couldn't see that I'd had PPI but they'd initiate a claim. Roll on 32 days and I've been awarded £2349.

Still got 2 accounts with other companies in the claim process and this one was the least hopeful claim.

If in any doubt do claim. I had no paperwork at all but was successful.

unity156 · 21/10/2013 23:02

Hi I hope people are still using this thread? Need some guidance over how long FOS are taking to sort claims out.
I have already done well with a few claims myself but for some im afraid I used a claims company, they were successful with one or two claims but I have had three bank credit cards revoke my claims. The claims company sent two to the FOS and the other they are still suppost to be persuing but it has been nearly a year and everytime I phone the company they say they are still on going and the two with FOS can take over a year! help is this right and advice please.

lizandlulu · 28/10/2013 21:55

Hiya, I have read a few pages of this thread but not all. I am new to all this as I have beenignoring it for far too long.

The only thing I have done is to ring brittania about ppi I had on a mortgage, they sent me a letter within a week to say I signed all the forms, was aware of what. I was signing and they don't uphold my claim. So have just filled out the financial ombudsman forms ready to send off as soon as I have copied the paperwork to send with it.

Has anyone else been refused by the bank, but then got money back using the ombudsman?

Shakey1500 · 30/10/2013 16:14

I did. Just be aware though that the ombudsman is snowed under with a backlog. Mine took about 18months. But they overruled the bank.

lizandlulu · 30/10/2013 16:34

ThanK you, yes I did think that might be the case, I don't mind as long as its being looked into.

Silverswan1964 · 08/11/2013 16:48

Can anyone help need to know if I can claim against combined insurance of America have seen that they where fined by the fsa for there selling tactics hard sell and told to pay redress but I phoned to enquire and they said it is not the same as ppi please any help much appreciated

Silverswan1964 · 08/11/2013 19:43

Sorry forgot to say had a policy with them for sickness and accident

minibmw2010 · 12/11/2013 18:43

I've had 2 offers from Barclays £1500) and Santander (£1200) with a refusal from Co-Op and Northern Rock. Am sending them to ombudsman as fact I used the same reason to apply for all and 2 paid out and 2 didn't makes me suspicious .. Good luck everyone.

LoosingBattle · 12/11/2013 19:45

I made a rather large PPI claim a while ago, got a letter about a month ago to say I was getting the money back.

I then received a letter to say that the full amount had been put onto my credit card, wiping the balance and leaving a hefty amount on the card to spend. Great. :D

Then I got exactly the same letter the following week, only enclosing a cheque for the amount instead of saying that it would be put onto my card!

I have put the cheque into my bank account but feel terrible! Should I confess? Will they come back for the money anyway? or should I keep quiet and enjoy spending it? It has been 10 days since last letter...

minibmw2010 · 12/11/2013 20:21

I'm sorry, I would be too scared to spend it because if they do come back to you for it they'll want it straight away ...

SolidGold · 16/11/2013 19:35

Thanks for the info here. Didn't know mortgages were included - will dig out the paperwork and see when it was. Think it was over five years ago - is it still worth trying?

minibmw2010 · 16/11/2013 20:11

My credit cards were more than 5 heads ago.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/11/2013 13:49

Just had a no from Lloyds. So off to the Ombudsman I guess. Am gutted, that would have been a lifesaver.

dazworld · 20/11/2013 13:28

Hi,

These posts are so inspirational.

I had 2 egg loans from 2001 (£5k), 2004 (£8k) and PPI was added on both loans (as I have the paperwork stating 'PPI' and the PPI amount which would be charged).

But I cannot remember whether I completed an online application form (with pre-ticed PPI) or it was by telephone for either loan.
I don't know if Citibank (who now deal with egg loan PPI claims) has any record of how PPI was chosen - online or telephone - pre-ticked online or not.

Could you please help? As I know I paid PPI I'm keen on getting it refunded to me but want to make sure I complete the application correctly.

Any help gladly received!!!

boschy · 27/11/2013 13:24

I've just read the entire thread... so many good stories. I am about to start filling in the forms for each and every financial product we've had in the last 30 years or so... but a few questions, if anyone can help:

  1. I've got the MSE claim form; do I need a covering letter as well? and if so do I just say "here's my form, please look into it"?
  1. I dont actually know which products we did/didnt have PPI on - write to them all just in case?
  1. where companies have changed hands... who do you write to? is it a case of googling their original name and trying to find out?
  1. is the same PPI form applicable for life insurance/endownments/pensions/store cards/car finance?

many many thanks if anyone can answer these!

boschy · 29/01/2014 16:08

UPDATE!!! I've written to about 6 firms, most of whom seem to now be Santander, had 5 fuck off letters - and today got one offering us £7k on PPI for our first mortgage which we took out 30 years ago!

YAY!! go for it people, keep going, its so worth it!
