Hello everyone and welcome to the new thread for Round Two!

To recap, the basic rules are:
No chicklit
No abuse memoir type stuff
No horror
No hardbacks

Auto/biography is allowed as long as it?s not anything too obscure (or crap, obviously).

Chocolate to the value of about £2 each time.

Here is the list:
artifarti
aristocat
Dysgu
PistachioLemon
TheBuggerofSuburbia
stickylittlefingers
AgentProvocateur
LolaLadyBird
Itsjustafleshwound
pooter
muddleduck
LadyBee
FlyingMonkey
Maria2007
johnworf

johnworf is a new member so be nice!

As before, please email me at artifarti at hotmail dot co dot uk with the initials of your chosen book and author (e.g. ROTN by TH for Return of the Native by Thomas Hardy) so I can check there are no duplicates. I will assume all your name, address and chocolate details remain the same unless you tell me otherwise (johnworf, please send me yours)

Please do this on or before July 10th. Then I will email you all with the name of the new person you are to post the books to (we are reversing, for anyone that hasn't picked that up.)

No-one has indicated that they want to drop out so I am assuming not at the moment.
I have now read all the books so I am thinking about which was my favourite - so many good ones, a difficult choice.

Hi, everyone, and Happy New Year!

I'm just checking in to say that I have PC issues at the moment, so I usually have to use my phone to surf (although I have just turfed DS off his laptop so I can post this!)
That means that I can't get onto this thread bbecause it takes about a day to load.

I'm pleased to see that Pooter has received a couple of deliveries. Once you've worked out what book belongs to which month, Pooter maybe you'd be as well posting one directly to SLF.

Maria, I hope 2011 is a better year for you and your family.

Happy reading!

aristocat · 11/01/2011 13:08

Happy New Year book lovers Grin

thanks Dysgu the book and chocolate arrived today, yum yum. you have perfect timing as i have recently finished 2 books and will start this one asap.

best wishes to maria and her family too, family bereavements are always difficult (especially at xmas/new year) Smile

chandellina · 11/01/2011 20:48

wow, I have just rejoined the thread for the first time since November and now my head hurts!! I am still waiting for a book this month but believe I am up to date with my parcels to johnworf.
my chocolate addiction that was so carefully honed over Christmas is also waning (we're down to one Cadbury's bingo sheet that is mainly being doled out to my son in potty training rewards) so I am hoping new supplies arrive soon. :)

pooter · 13/01/2011 10:28

AGENTP Respect the doughnut's book is winging its way to you as i type. Woo hoo - I'm back in the loop! We have had internet problems ever since we moved - Dec the 1st! So i am delighted to be able to tap away on a proper keyboard and not a borrowed phone.

Chandelina - I too am bribing my offspring with regard to pooing at the moment. I have a very colourful poo chart, complete with drawings of poo, and he can have a sticker and a little heart sweet if he poos. We are not talking potty pooing here just any poo! He has had problems with witholding poo - for up to 5 days, and with accompanying sobbing and tiptoe dancing, so i am overjoyed at a poo in a nappy at this stage.....parenting is so much harder than i could have believed.

Maria - love to you and your family and hope this new year is a good one.

Arti - i met up with an old aquaintance of yours over christmas (should they be forgot etc!) and will message you with gossip if you like!

Wash pile awaits....

artifarti · 13/01/2011 14:57

Oooh, pooter - gossip, please! Grin

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 13/01/2011 21:45

Pooter I was so excited at the thought of getting a new book that I had a wee peek at Respect The Donut's thread to see if I could guess what it was.

I got that one for my Christmas, and I finished it last night, so I'll post it straight to SLF. Is this the book I should have got in December, or is it my January book?

Maria2007loveshersleep · 18/01/2011 21:09

God, am back on this thread only to read about dreaded potty training (and there I was hoping to have some nice civilized books conversation)! Grin

We too started potty training last friday, went really well for 3 days, very few accidents, DS wee-ed and pooed enthusiastically in potty & toilet. Come monday- which was a nursery day, after 4 days at home with us- he completely regressed, so yesterday & today were nightmares, completely refusal to cooperate at all, constant accidents :(

What to do?? (pulls hair out)...

aristocat · 25/01/2011 22:23

its all very quiet on our threads ATM ~ are we all busy reading OR doing RL stuff Shock Grin

AgentProvocateur · 26/01/2011 19:18

I'm busy reading trashy magazines at the moment. I can't seem to stay awake long enough to read more than half a page of a book! I'm looking forward to receiving my next one from Pooter. I need to get my mojo back

SLF did you get the book I posted to you on 14-15 Jan?

stickylittlefingers · 26/01/2011 21:41

Hi - back online again, woohoo! But sadly, no, no book. Not sure if that's just because it's taking ages or whether it's not coming. It does seem to differ a lot - my Mum has sent a couple of parcels over for the girls, one took a couple of days, the next took a couple of weeks. I guess that book didn't get lucky Sad

On the bright side, I found some really cute chocolate to send!!

aristocat · 27/01/2011 22:10

hi all
have posted on marias book thread so it shall be sent on soon

Sad that some books are AWOL

aristocat · 31/01/2011 20:29

have posted to you today arti hope everyone else is on track Smile

AgentProvocateur · 31/01/2011 22:24

Any sign of the book SLF? If not, I could send you my copy of it directly to where you are. Let me know what you want me to do.

stickylittlefingers · 01/02/2011 21:15

Hello - no, nothing :( :(

I fear that the forwarding isn't working. Last time I was doing this, I was living permanently in Ireland, so although I remmeber the forwarding working perfectly before, it's a different system this time.

It would be expensive to be sending to Germany, tho. I think it might be better to duck out while I'm over here (which would mean the next two months). I.e. AP would send direct to Dysgu... Would it work if I reappeared in April or is that going to confuse things still further?

If the book turns up at our house, my parents visit it every week so it would be picked up.

I'm really sorry this has turned into such a Horlicks... I had really hoped it would work...

AgentProvocateur · 01/02/2011 22:43

I suspect you might have read it anyway. I'll PM you and tell you what it is.

It's maybe stuck at customs - I put in a bar of Scottish tablet, which could well be mistaken for an explosive slab!

I'm happy to send to you in Germany for the next couple of months. It's not that expensive, and I think it go under some "printed paper" rate if I don't include the chocolate.

I'm not due to send you another one until the end of Feb, so hopefully the missing one will have turned up by then, and we can decide what to do about the next one.

stickylittlefingers · 02/02/2011 21:55

Right, AP has kindly let me know what the missing book is. So I suggest given that it's gone somewhere, I'll order a new copy to send to Dysgu so that it can wend its merry way round the circle, then I'll just keep the one AP sent if and when it turns up.

Hopefully AP and I have sorted out the journey plan of the next books and then I won't be the problem-child any more!!

I suspect some customs official is munching on the tablet as we write... "Well, this bit certainly isn't semtex, but I better just nibble this last bit to make absolutely sure..." :)

AgentProvocateur · 04/02/2011 15:31

Thanks for the book Pooter. I read it years ago, and I have a copy in the house, so I'll post to SLF in the next couple of days, and hope that this one reaches her!

The author is a friend of a friend, and I've met her a few times. I also know some of the people who the characters are based on, so it was a really interesting read for me (although I was so engrossed and I read it so quickly that I missed the OMG moment.) I'm looking forward to reading it again.

aristocat · 10/02/2011 13:54

have you posted to me? Dysgu nothing has arrived yet Sad
how is everyone else?

AgentProvocateur · 10/02/2011 14:29

SLF I posted March's book to you today. No chocolate, I'm afraid - I sent it as "printed paper", and it was no more expensive than it usually is when I send it to you in the UK.

stickylittlefingers · 12/02/2011 20:46

That's great, I shall look out for it! I'm eating about three times as much chocolate as is healthy at the moment in any case. There's just so much of it here! There's even a little chocolate factory in town where you can watch it being made... I'm saving that for a rainy day with the girls.

Dysgu · 13/02/2011 19:46

Hello - Sorry aristocat but I had totally forgotten to post your book! Blush It has been sitting on the mantel piece waiting to be noticed... and will make it to the post box tomorrow morning (courtesy of my mother!!)

SLF Thank you for the chocolate - the girls loved the picture and adored the chocolate too! It did not last very long! As for marzipan... yes, I think so!

Life here has been so hectic - facing redundancy and trying to work things out so that it is a positive move!

artifarti · 18/02/2011 08:10

Hello all. Crappy start to the year here but emerging from the gloom now.

aristocat - book and choc received, thank you. Just finished a 700 page whopper that a colleague gave me for Christmas so I felt I had to see it through (!) but am starting Maria's book today.

Are all the books vaguely heading in the right direction?...

OP posts:
Maria2007loveshersleep · 19/02/2011 17:40

The books are vaaaaaguely heading in the right direction, I think, but if I judge from my case we're a bit slow this time round. Blush

Arti, I hope you're feeling a bit better? I emailed you this morning...

aristocat · 20/02/2011 21:20

no book for me yet - hope your OK arti is there anything we can do?

stickylittlefingers · 21/02/2011 09:07

Hey Dysgu... Glad the choc had an appreciative audience!! Did the book arrive too (that should have come separately from an amazon shop?)... Re redundancies - I feel your pain. We had a round before Christmas (nice timing, thanks powers-that-be). Because I was coming here (and, truthfully, probably was ready for a move, even though I didn't want to do it right them), I took voluntary. It is horrible though, and even once I had "closure" from taking the voluntary, waiting to see what happened to the others was almost as stressful... It's really horrible, I hope you're OK.

Hope you're doing OK too arti...

I do have a book, though, thanks AP! Am looking forward to it (I'm reading Heidi atm Blush and really enjoying it Blush, tho it is weird in German - she's always referring to as "it") - will be starting it soon :)
