so when we going live?
my book is ready and waiting.
my vote goes with thread - although i will go with majority vote
xx
mamag did you have a nice weekend away?

MamaG · 07/01/2008 22:59

leoleo, it was marvellous thank you - we went to PIL (count to 10 being my motto) for two nights as it was my nephew's surprise 21st birthday party on the Saturday

I did lots of food etc and then enjoyed the party - I did feel a little bit like the old ladies in the Harry Enfield sketches "ooh young maaan" with all those young men about

I love my darling nephew to pieces, so it was great to see him so happy

One thing that was weird is DH's cousin: they are very alike, but not alike it that makes ANY sense - v v odd to see somebody who I don't really know, but so like my own DH.

Anyway
Am waffling
Again

Go live? Just waiting for vacua and jofeb04 to confirm book titles then I can email everybody with address and start date YAY
HAve sent nagging emails tonight

RIGHT QUICHE - we need a decision about reviews

Shall we do threads, but only using intials?

So:-

"QUICHE BOOK CLUB - HPATGOF by JKR" being the title

?

VACUA and JOFEB04

pleeeease let me have your book choices, I am just waiting for you two

even I have picked!

OP posts:
thegrowlygus · 08/01/2008 20:44

Ooooh the suspense is killing me...want to get going and getting to the end of my current book.

Which one shall I send mamag or will you let me know? High brow or less high brow or low brow?! I don't want to duplicate things!

BecauseImWorthIt · 08/01/2008 23:05

Can we start off our threads saying why we have chosen this book?

BurpyErnie · 09/01/2008 01:07

I chose my book because.... well I only read it once and thought it was really good!

Heifer · 09/01/2008 08:16

I chose my book because....

I really enjoyed it, in fact it is to blame for the bags under my eyes (well at least 10% of the blame the other 90% surely lies with my DD)..

Exciting, a little scary (although not very much so don't worry), basically unputdownable...

There, you will notice that I can read much betterer than whot I can right!

I may not be very articulte but I do enjoy reading a good book.

Heres to a good year of reading, cheers MamaG for organising...

MamaG · 09/01/2008 08:43

Don't know if vacua and jofe have replied yet, can't check hotmail until tonight- if anybody "sees" t hem on MN, can you please nag them! I have emailed them direct

Quite a few people have given more than one choice and so far, nobody has put forward the same book (ooh!) so unless vacua and jofe tell me books that others have already said, you can decide which of the two (or three, in one case ) you want to send.

Yes, I think we should each start a thread saying why we picked the book. I'll put that in the emails I will (hopefully) be sending tonight

P.S. Just thought you might like to know ther are 2 groups of 3 of you with the same first name!

OP posts:
Heifer · 09/01/2008 08:57

what you mean that there could be another Heifer! not surely not I am unique...

MamaG · 09/01/2008 09:01

not you as in YOU heif, you as in the whole quiche

OP posts:
Heifer · 09/01/2008 09:05

um sorry have no idea what you just said...

Do you mean than at least 3 of us have the same RL first name?

If so, is it mine?

seeker · 09/01/2008 11:15

Is anybody feeling incredibly defensive about their choice? I keep thinking - well I liked it but what if everybody else hates it? What if it's too lightweight - what if what if......

MamaG · 09/01/2008 12:54

sorry heifer! To clarify

there are two people with your name

there re three people with another name

and another three with another name

seeker - yes, me too, imagine how I felt, actually having the whole list! Its a good mix, IMO

looking forward to reading yours, I love Janet and John

OP posts:
thegrowlygus · 09/01/2008 13:10

OK dokes - will pick one of the 3 that I have lined up! I thought that there would be more duplicate books.
Bet I am one of the common names as my name is rather common. And not terribly secret.

I am a Kate.
