Dear all

I was 12 weeks pregnant, went for the scan and told baby stopped developing at 6 weeks 2.7 mm - I am off for another scan this Friday to make certain theres no further growth, if not then I will need to work out arrangements for miscarriage process. has anyone had the ERPC? am I able to request this at the hospital on the day? I would opt for tablets and suffer at home but im scared of what I might see... some people said its like a heavy period, others said they saw a sac and fetus and that would really hurt me to see.. plus if not all the pregnancy comes out, id have to go back to hospital to have the remains taken

if anyone has any advise on this that would be great
thank you

@OctoberGirl91

Thank you for your kind words, I too wish you well for your future.

Just takes time, it's a weird feeling that this nightmare is over it actually wants to make me cry and I'm not sure why as I have known it's over for 3 weeks.

Keep saying to myself onwards and upwards it will get easier.

Wish you all the best xxx

I am So sorry to hear all of your losses :(
I thought I would share my story as I had no idea what to expect from my body after my miscarriage - there is very little information out there as I guess every woman is so different so I can tell you from my experience. I had a missed miscarriage at 11weeks in July and had an ERPC a week later. I felt sore in my lower abdomen for a few days after, mainly whilst walking around.

The hcg hormone finally left my system after 6weeks and I had a spotting period in September. Between September and October my cycle went from a regular 28day to a 34 day and I am currently on my first normal period (although a lot heavier than usual! I’m not complaining as I’m just so happy to have it back finally!

I am going to start trying again this month as hoping this is my body’s way of resetting :) xxx

Hi Guys

Had my ERPC procedure early Thursday morning only had minimal bleeding which is still ongoing mainly with being active and lower cramping.

Today though I think I could be ovulating?! Is this possible?

Sorry for TMI but with the blood loss it's very stringy mucus like my ovulating mucus like egg whites and just don't see how it could be possible?

I will be TTC again after first AF has arrived.
Xx

Hi Octobergirl. I had lower back pain and minor pelvic pain within a week of my erpc. I rung the midwife cause I was worried and she said there was nothing to be concerned about - it was too long for it to be an op issue for the symptoms I had and I was most likely ovulating (I was shocked cause I was still bleeding!). She said to take a paracetamol and just rest. I did an ovulation stick test that night and sure enough, it was positive!! My body doesn't know if it's coming or going, that was two weeks ago and I have no idea when to expect my period.

But your body is probably just healing as best it can and it's all probably very normal (if there is such a thing). If you get more worried, call the midwife. Hope you are healing well and getting lots of support. Xx

Thanks @julygirl that makes a lot of sense I've got a lot of backache today but I have been trying to keep my mind occupied.

It's a long road but I'm hopefully I will see light at end of tunnel eventually I'm very fortunate to have two beautiful DD just hoping nature will let me have a third!

Love to everyone going through the same situation right now, a club many of wishes we would never have joined but nether the less everyone's support has made me feel more at ease.

Good luck to anyone TTC again xx

It'll take time for our minds, hearts and bodies to readjust and heal. But keeping active and busy has helped me so much. The mental relief of thinking about something else has been great. It's a long foggy tunnel and the light at the end is there (some days more than others). This network of messages is fantastic, I have found pintrest really comforting too (just be careful for the baby/pregnancy suggestions, they can be a bit surprising)

Has anyone out there been offered another scan post erpc yet? I spoke to my gp a few days ago and she didn't mention a follow up scan to check everything and I was too teary to remember to ask. I imagine cause I've not had any issues and I've stopped bleeding then everything is fine but I just wondered if I should.

Good you are doing OK, keep strong and in touch xx

I have my op last Friday and was told it went well and that it.

I was told bleeding should be like a normal/light period which I thought was stopping but had more today which is annoying. I have still had a little bit of cramps in the evenings. Has anyone else experienced this?

I was told to take a pregnancy test 2 weeks after op so next Friday to confirm my body has gone back to "normal".

If it still shows I'm pregnant to call the EPU and have another scan.

HI OP, I'm really sorry for your loss.

I had an ERPC after a MMC at 9 weeks in 2012. I had to wait a week between the miscarriage being confirmed and the op date.

I did start bleeding during the wait and arrived at 7am on the day of the procedure to be scanned because I was convinced with the amount of cramping etc my cervix would have begun to open up but nothing had really happened so I had the ERPC at 4pm that afternoon under general.

When I came around I felt so much better. I had been an emotional wreck the week before, I found the idea of carrying a dead baby difficult to stomach and I was scared of the unknown. I was discharged at 8pm, ate a massive KFC and slept for 14 hours that night. The next morning I had mild period pains and very light bleeding that lasted around a week.

Having a miscarriage is really painful emotionally, but I honestly think I couldn't have had a "better" experience surgery wise. It certainly gave me closure and a sense of finite and I really needed that x

Hi @Funnybunnyfluff hope you are as well as to be expected and recovering ok.

I also have to take a pregnancy test in two weeks I actually took one today 5 days post Op and it's a very faint positive so I'm guessing my hormones are levelling out my boobs have stopped hurting today.

I've still had bleeding not as many cramps just light spotting that barely touches pad, I'm ready for bleeding to stop although it's only been 5 days I feel it's a constant reminder of what was not to be 😢

I'm ready to start TTC once this bleed has stopped and pray I'll get a rainbow!

Everyone stay in Touch I would love to know how everyone gets on xx

@OctoberGirl91

Hey! Mine is also more stopping but a little blood when I wipe. To be fair it's only been 4 days I think I'm thinking it was 2 weeks ago.

I think because I have been bleeding since 13th September I have had enough.

I'm going to test on the Saturday after work so hopefully it will say negative. No idea what happens if it doesn't.

I'm hoping by the weekend the bleeding/spotting will have stopped. I also want to try again soon.

Hope you're all OK.

Has anyone done a test yet? @Funnybunnyfluff

Done a test today and getting a very faint positive, although all my symptoms have gone, my sheet said to wait two weeks so I'll do one again Thursday.

Just wondered if anyone had a test quicker?

Funnybunnyfluff · 13/10/2018 13:56

@OctoberGirl91

I have not done it yet. It's only been 1 week 1 day since. Will wait until next week.

I still have a bit of discharge more brownish. Has yours completely stopped?

Your 2 weeks will be next Thursday?

I am tempted to do one.

OctoberGirl91 · 13/10/2018 15:34

It's seems to stop then I've have odd bit when I wipe but at moment is still red? I would have expected it to go brown by now, if it's positive on Thursday I'll rang EPU.

I'm just wanting to get my period now I'm getting impatient just want to be pregnant again 😕 although very nervous it will happen again.

Also still signed off work back to normality for me from 22nd Doctor was kind enough to give just over two weeks off.xx

@OctoberGirl91

I know the feeling, I have been back at work 2 weeks now had day off for 5the op then weekend to recover.

I don't like work but it does make the day go quicker so I am glad I'm back at work. Just to make life normal again.

I also want my period to start I home the discharge stops. I'm dreading it saying positive when I test I don't want to have to go through any of this again.

Have you DTD yet? I want to feel like it's been months. Will use s condom if we do as I read about his of infection. Also I want my body to be ok before we try. Be nice to practice again.

I had already been off work previously because of pregnancy related problems as they discovered at 5 weeks I had a Hematoma at side of gestational sac and was told at that point 50/50 so was on pelvic test was scanned for 2 more weeks after that and with my last scan with EPU just before baby passed I was total the hematoma had fully resolved and looked forward to my 12 week scan how wrong was I , 3 days later I lost the baby.

So I've not really been able to get back into work mode I work for the NHS111 helpline and didn't feel I could cope with possibility of another lady ringing in same situation I would have froze, I am not getting ready to return just don't look forward to awkward conversations at work.

We have actually DTD, it was last night as I had two days with no bleeding then had some today, but it was an experience we both were very nervous but I wanted that part of my relationship back for us both. I would love to conceive without a period but worried about miscarriage again.

The positive tests give me mixed emotions it's only very faint, I hope that it goes soon as I don't think my body will ovulate till all Hormones have gone, am I right? xx

@OctoberGirl91

Oh I completely understand why you are not back at work especially working for 111 you need to be completely focused.

To be honest I am not sure if you can or not.

I actually feel scared to DTD maybe that's silly but it's been a while and with everything that's gone on I feel a be scared. I am aiming to this weekend. I feel like it's our first time so will when we have been together 10 years plus and my husband is so lovely.

I also feel that I want to be pregnant again but so scared.

@OctoberGirl91 are you still bleeding?
I'm an emotional wreck today crying at silly things.

@Funnybunnyfluff you read my mind I was about to post I am very, very emotional today just when I thought I was coping I'm a crying mess today, it's also my birthday tomorrow not really in mood to celebrate.

The royal bnoucment didn't help, not that I'm a big fan just that she is due around time I would have been which is sad 😢

touch wood my bleeding has stopped now, not getting anything when wiping so I'm getting ready to start tracking my ovulation with sticks never done it before because seen a lot of people ovulated 2 weeks after ERPC so for me that's Thursday.. just want to be pregnant again!

Have you done a test yet?x

@OctoberGirl91

I didn't actually hear the royal news you broke it to me 😀.

I am wondering how quickly a period can happen after the op. Feel a bit like mine is starting but is that too soon I'm not sure. With all the medical management not working I'm not such what's going on. I can't find much information about afterwards.

I tried to do a test this morning bloody did it wrong stupid fool I didn't pee on the test for long enough. Not a test I have used before. Will do it again tomorrow.

I have used the ovulation tests mainly to track before we started trying. I tried one yesterday and it was completely negative. I normally ovulate early between day 9-12 after the first day of my period. Xx

I have some lower back ache this afternoon so I think it may be coming, I always use to track my CM and once it was egg whites knew it was time.

This was our third pregnancy we have two girls 5,2 and we were lucky to get caught on first month trying, with my second it took 6 months so don't want to have to wait.

Just ordered the clear blue digital advanced set see if it helps, I'm not, not trying but we aren't preventing it I think ideally I should allow my body its first period but I'll be happy if it doesn't come, as long as it has no effect on the pregnancy.

Do you have any other children?

Hopefully baby dust for us both, I'm going do a test Wednesday I think, I'll let you know what it says.

Let's hope in new year we both have healthy pregnancies xx

Report
Funnybunnyfluff · 15/10/2018 15:59

@OctoberGirl91

No children for us sadly.

I think my period has started it feels like it has and the blood is like a period. Not sure if it's normal to be so quick but what is normal?

I guess my body thought I had MC a month ago so maybe this is classed as 4 weeks I'm not to sure. It's fresh blood so I'm not concerned. Think will wait to see what happens tomorrow and do a bit of googling.

Yeh the sticks are good I didn't actually use them the month we must had conceived as we were married 5 days after so it was a whirlwind.

I will do a test tomorrow or Wednesday correctly this time and let you know xx

Ah thank you and also congratulations to you also.

I have googled it and everything points towards it not being that but then no idea what it could be.

Will wait a day or so see what happen. I don't want to go back to EPU.

Hi, just wanted to share my experience, i went for my 12 week scan to be told that there was no heartbeat had stopped growing at 9 weeks, to heat that news was devastating but I was st the scan alone, husband was offshore And thought that everything would be fine as we have a 4 year old daughter. We live 30 miles from the hospital so drove myself home to break the news to family. That was the longest 3 days of my life!! I decided to go with surgical under G.A, headed in for 7.30am had taken my tablets at home as instructed by the midwife. Was suffering with cramps all thy way, feeling sick, scared. Once at hospital and settled into room, husband had to go to office with paperwork so told him to head off to do that not knowing what my body was planning, at 9am my water went, i was now soaked and getting really bad cramps my midwife came in and said “looks like your going to do this your self” my head was spinning, this was not what I had planned, I was bleeding heavily and passing huge clots, I finally passed my baby into a bed pan, one of the hardest moments of my life! The next few hours were spent running back and forward to the toilet, I eventually got scanned and told there was still quite a bit of tissue and that I would need to stay overnight, due to the distance I live from the hospital, I wanted home I didn’t want to be there anymore. The midwife persuaded the doctor to perform ERPC with a local instead. I agreed this was again horrendous, the cramping pain was unbearable, the noise was even more so. Finally after 30 minutes it was finished, I was shown back to my room. I went to the loo and had very little bleeding. It’s now been 4 weeks today since I had the procedure, I am waiting for my period to appear. Want to wait at least 1 cycle before we try again. I hope we all get some good news soon. X
