Went for my 12 week today and baby had stopped growing at 8+4. They are giving me a week to see if things move on their own. Don't know how to feel but so feel guilty

Hi guys, hope everyone is doing okay.

Welcome @Rose68 to the thread, I’m so sorry you find yourself here. Monday will likely be a repeat scan, I’m afraid. The NHS generally like to scan and confirm miscarriage themselves, and don’t normally take private scans as confirmation. After which they will run through the various options with you. If you are still getting pregnancy symptom it’s unlikely you will miscarry naturally before Monday, doesn’t sound like your body has caught up with the news just yet. Feel free to ask any questions you have here, it’s a confusing time but lots of experience on this thread.

@Ladybug84 hope scan went okay and you got some positive news re cyst.

@Pamplem00se glad GP is taking things seriously and you can get to the bottom of things. You really deserve some good luck, you’ve had a rotten time. Flowers

@unicornxo hope you are doing okay.

Ladybug84 · 17/11/2018 08:16

@PineapplePrincess
Yes, thanks. The cyst is gone! At least something positive happening, I feared I was going to lose an ovary, nothing has gone right since August. They do a bit of blood in the womb tho, so I'll probably have to come back for another scan 🤷🏻‍♀️ How many weeks are you now? I'm so happy everything is going well for you 🤗

@Rose68
Sorry you found yourself here. Like Pineapple said there's a lot of experience and everyone is really supportive in this thread. If you haven't started bleeding yet it is unlikely that it'd happen before Monday, although every case it's different. At the hospital they will give you three options: natural, medical or surgical management. It all depends on how do you want to deal with it. Naturally could take up to a few weeks to complete, surgically is usually scheduled and done in one day. Anyhow be kind to yourself, it's a difficult experience to go through, physically and emotionally.

I've got a plasterer working in the kitchen today and tomorrow, that's forcing me out of the house: meals out all weekend and 0 cooking 😉

what's everyone's plans this weekend? Lots of love 💐💐💐xx

Rose68 · 17/11/2018 09:23

Thank you for the messages, I am feeling less pregnant today. I probably was yesterday too, but I was so upset I couldn’t really tell. Also I have a couple of spots coming.... for me that’s a sure sign my hormones are changing. No bleeding though.
My eyes are red and swollen, I look such a mess and we are at my sisters today for my Dad’s birthday lunch. That’s my parents, both my sisters and their families and my brother. Also we are out tonight with friends. None of them know I was pregnant.
I think I will choose the fastest option possible on Monday.

Michelle0507 · 17/11/2018 10:59

Sorry you find yourself here @Rose68. It took over 3 weeks for my body to start and part with the pregnancy.
For me the operation was best, it took 25 min. I was in hospital from 7.30am - 4pm but it was the best option for me. X

PineapplePrincess · 18/11/2018 22:23

@Ladybug84 - good news that the cyst is gone. Hopefully onwards and upwards from here.

I’m currently 23wks, bump now more visible and feeling movement; which has helped calm my nerves no end. I still can’t go to the toilet though without expecting to see blood. I don’t think that’ll change.

Hope all goes as smoothly as possible tomorrow @Rose68. I have done all three options, I most prefer the ERPC; altho’ have fallen pregnant quicker after medical management, but not sure if that was just co-incidence.

Michelle0507 · 19/11/2018 12:00

I'm so happy for you @PineapplePrincess are you still having regular scans? Did they ever do any investigations into your previous MCs?x

PineapplePrincess · 20/11/2018 22:30

Hi @Michelle0507, hope you are doing okay.

Frequency of scans has reduced, since 20wk scan (had one every week up until 12wk, then 16wk and 20wk), not due another till after the New Year now. Probably for the best, as I was getting really anxious beforehand and not really ‘enjoying’ the experience.

Have had a few complications; took an allergic reaction at my last miscarriage to codeine, which is apparently now problematic for an epidural (queue visit to anesthetist in a few weeks) and have an anterior placenta which could be problematic should it not rise before the birth and may result in c-section, heavy blood loss and possible hestorectomy. Trying to take each worry one step at a time.

No reasons have been found for previous miscarriages, albeit I only got the first round of blood tests from the RMC. Only difference to this pregnancy, was it was once cycle after a medically managed miscarriage and that I have been taking baby aspirin (on top of the usual heparin injections) from 6wks. The aspirin seemed to cause a bleed at six weeks, but consultant thinks it may have helped egg further embed.

Michelle0507 · 30/11/2018 14:17

Hi lovelies,

How are we all? I finally have news to share with you all (hope people don't mind and it doesn't put new people off posting.) Had my second scan today 8w3d measuring 19.7mm with a lovely HB. Still don't feel out of the woods yet. See the MW on Fri for the first time.
@pineappleprincess, @Ladybug84

PineapplePrincess · 30/11/2018 19:01

@Michelle0507 - that’s fabulous news! Big congrats and fingers and toes crossed all continues to go well. Squeeeeeee! xox

jacquejacque · 30/11/2018 19:22

Hi all, can I please join? I’ve had three MCs since June, one at 4w, one at 4+5 and then my current situation: we had an emergency scan at 11+6 this week following spotting, and discovered baby had only grown to 6+5.

We’re still coming to terms with it and I’m booked for ERPC on Monday l. I’ve had my pre op assessment today and I actually feel a tiny bit more positive as they’re referring us for investigation and hopefully will be able to get the bottom of the problem.

It’s a long road ahead and it’s still very raw but I’m so pleased I found you all. X

PineapplePrincess · 30/11/2018 20:19

Welcome @jacquejacque, sorry to hear your sad news. You have had a horrible year by the sounds of it. I hope you are resting and taking care of yourself. Flowers

If you have any questions re the ERPC, please ask.

I’m glad you have been referred on to RMC. Hopefully that will provide some answers as well as some reassurance too.

Hi ladies,

Special congratulations to @Michelle0507 ! Keeping everything closed for you. Please keep us posted on the progress, good news and happy endings are more than welcome in this group 😊

So happy everything is going well with you too @PineapplePrincess

@jacquejacque I hope your day goes as planned. There's no right or wrong feelings following a miscarriage. It's normal for you to think like that so do not apologise, I understand what you mean. The important thing is communication, make sure both of you are open about how you feel and support one and other through this journey, otherwise it can be really isolating.

A bit of an update on my journey, it's been 74 days (over 10 weeks now) since my ERPC procedure and still no AF. I've booked an appointment with my GP for Wednesday. I'm dreading it, I know I'm going to have to fight to be listened to. I'm getting tired of waiting... sure they can do some tests to check if something is wrong, right? But what?? If they don't listen I'm considering just going private. I've read stories of women that have been waiting for the periods for over a year... 😖 i don't want that to be my case 🙁

Xx

Ladybug84 · 03/12/2018 13:09

Keeping everything crossed!! Not closed 😆

Michelle0507 · 03/12/2018 16:10

@Ladybug84 thank you.

I hope they do something for you. My GP and EPAU have been great this time.

I have a horrible urine/kidney infection went to OOH Dr on Fri via 111 told me my urine didn't tell him anything but gave me antibiotics which made me laugh! I constantly feel I need a wee even when I've just been. Been to see my GP today had blood and white cells in my urine so she's given me more antibiotics and sent it off to the hospital. I've also got a really bad cold, feel like I'm falling apart!

Chilliandlime · 08/12/2018 12:17

Hi, would it be OK if I joined please? Have just been through second mc this year, the first started in mid-June but wasn't confirmed until mid-July and had an ERPC on 24th July. Lucky to get pregnant again end of October and got a bfp mid-November but started to bleed just before 6 weeks last Thursday. Had a private scan a week ago with a heartbeat but went back to hospital the next day for another scan and it was gone. Was hoping it had passed naturally Sunday night but on Weds still had some tissue so had an ERPC Thursday.
Have been reading this thread today and seems so supportive and lovely to see some positive stories. Recognise many of the other experiences and am so sorry for everyone's losses. Reading the positive stories on other threads as well has really got me through the last week so thought I'd finally join in for the first time. Am 32.

PineapplePrincess · 08/12/2018 23:09

Hi @Chilliandlime, welcome to the group. Sorry to hear about your losses, in such quick succession too. Life can be an absolute b!tch. I hope you are bearing up okay. Flowers

@jacquejacque, hope everything went okay on Monday. Was thinking of you. Hope you are on the mend physically, if not yet emotionally.

@Ladybug84, sorry to hear your cycle hasn’t returned. That must be so frustrating. Hope discussion went okay with GP and they are giving the support and direction needed to get back to some semblance of normality.

@Michelle0507, hope you are feeling better. Between kidney/urine infection and the cold, you’re immune system will be taking a fair wack. Make sure you looking after yourself and bub.

Michelle0507 · 09/12/2018 12:41

@PineapplePrincess thank you. I've still got my cough and cold driving me insane. I constantly needed the loo again yesterday but don't know if it was preg related. I just can't stop worrying I've got no sickness my boobs only hurt if I poke them and i have a bit of a bloat! :/ x

Watermelonlover · 17/12/2018 19:38

Hi, can I join? I'm 36, I had 2 miscarriages, one in 2917, had to go through EPRC, the other one was July. Seems both time the baby stopped around 8 weeks, I've never done any early scan, so never seen a HB. Now I'm pregnant again, around 6 weeks, but I have spotting over a week, had a scan at week 5, can only see a sac. Will go back in 2 weeks time, I feel so scared to lose this one, although I don't have very good feeling about the spotting though. :(

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 19:56

@Watermelonlover so sorry you find yourself here I've had to MC and it's awful. Really hope it's good news, take care of yourself.x

PineapplePrincess · 17/12/2018 20:07

Hi @Watermelonlover, hope you’re holding up okay.

Week 5 would be too early to see a heartbeat, even in a healthy pregnancy - so there is hope. Spotting can go either way; all four of my MCs started with spotting which then progressed to bleeding. This pregnancy (currently 27wks) I had spotting at 6wks which made me fear the worst, but so far everything has been fine.

Keep an eye on the amount of spotting, colour and whether you are experiencing cramps. Hopefully it will settle and 7wk scan will show positive progress. Fingers and toes crossed for you.

@Michelle0507, how’s the cough and cold? Hopefully settling. Pregnancy symptoms picking up any? It’s bizaare how these things can bring comfort. {[{hugs}}}

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 20:22

@PineapplePrincess cough and snotty nose is still here but better. No, no symptoms I'm just one ball of anxiety going to ring MW tomorrow if not I found a place open Sat with a space for a private scan but it's £60! Argh, so so much anxiety!!!

Watermelonlover · 17/12/2018 20:48

Just realise that I typed '2917', I meant '2017'.

@PineapplePrincess @Michelle0507
Thank you for your kind words. Many congratulations to both of you. Thanks for sharing your positive updates.

I do feel the period pain from time to time though, is it a bad sign? so far spotting didn't get worse and relatively light, no bright red blood yet. But it is scary to see it every time I went to toilet. Sometimes it can be in my head as well, I constantly feel something come out, but sometimes it is nothing.

I feel I should take some progesterone but GP refuses to prescribe. The scan lady did recommend baby aspirin, not sure whether I should start to take it if I'm already spotting.

Michelle0507 · 17/12/2018 20:54

My GP refused me Asprin and really put me off now thinking maybe I should have!
They say brown blood is also old blood, I can't say it'd reasure me. A friend bled from 6w to 14w and they never found out why. I keep getting the odd pain like period pain and panic I think most of my pain has been trapped wind/constipation. I keep bloating a bit, I've lost a full stone!!! @watermelonlover

PineapplePrincess · 17/12/2018 21:06

@Watermelonlover - brown blood, as*@Michelle0507* says, suggests old blood and can be nothing to worry about. Pains are normal too, can be ligaments and muscle stretching. If pains become more intense or bleeding becomes heavy or changes colour, this could indicate MC.

It’s so hard to say at this stage which way it will go. Which makes everything all the more difficult to cope with. Flowers

I was on aspirin and still bled at 6wks. I actually took the first aspirin on the Thursday and brown bled Friday through to the Tuesday. As I was only 6wks EPU refused to scan for another 10 days. I was convinced I had lost the pregnancy, and cried all the way through that first scan (and several thereafter!)

@Michelle0507 - I think it’s harder to shake a cold when pregnant. Had one about 6-8wks ago and still have the cough. Can’t get rid of it. I have to cross my legs each time I cough to prevent peeing myself too, which is so attractive.

Try not to worry. Symptoms/no symptoms every pregnancy is different. Just be prepared if you go for a private scan, they are not the best at imparting bad news. I ended up having to comfort the sonographer!
