Yay! So pleased for you flen, it will be nice for you to be in with the 'normal' preggos. Hope the sickness had subsided a little now xx

MrsConfusion · 19/08/2015 17:14

flen great news today - such a long few weeks that you've battled through - amazing to be moving away from EPU stage (but also scary!). Sending you great big well done hugs Flowers

Good luck for scans tomorrow minnie and sun. Everything crossed for you both xx

primarynoodle · 19/08/2015 18:37

yay flen great news about the scan

can i ask (another) tmi question.... anybody found bleeding got a bit heavier if they worked their body a bit hard... moving house and 90% of packing and furniture moving has fallen to me - initially bleeding had settled mostly and in the morning is very light but seems to be getting heavier through the day when im doing lots... should i be worried or is this normal?

Homeboddy49 · 19/08/2015 18:49

Hello ladies

Haven't posted for a couple weeks as I've been so busy with work but I've managed to keep up on mostly everything.

Congratulations on all the great scan posts, its so heart warming to read.

Totally relate to the posts about exercise and getting back on track but don't you think its so hard when our bodies don't know if they are coming or going? We have to constantly juggle exercise, diet, alcohol intake, stress levels, dietary supplements plus all the other medication we may be on for our treatment and I just can't keep up. Currently going through a bollocks to it all phase (which means too many glasses of vivo). Lots of raised highbrows from DH but he knows not to question! haha

I've had news today that my first NHS RMC appointment has been cancelled again for the third time. Now rescheduled for the end of September. I'm not even upset this time, I just feel like its a joke. I have already had one private appt back in June who has prescribed progesterone the next time I get pregnant but he hasn't done any tests. Currently waiting on DNA blood tests from GP. DH has his back all clear today but he only had them taken 4 weeks ago so I don't think that the GP has done it right as the hospital said they would take 6-8 wks?

Anyway I think I will book another appointment with the private doctor and get some tests done. He said he can do NK tests and the clotting tests.

Sorry for the mega long post! lots of Flowersto everyone

Homeboddy49 · 19/08/2015 18:50

Vino!!! not vivo

Monten · 19/08/2015 19:30

Hey homeboddy I don't think we've 'met'. I can't believe they cancelled your appt for the third time! That's shocking. By DNA blood tests do you mean karyotyping? E.g to see if you are carriers of a genetic disorder? If so I think 4 weeks is quick but not unheard of so it sounds about right. Did you get any testing done on the fetus (sorry don't know your stats). Hugs, having to wait for appointments is a pile of shit. I too have been over indulging in the vino recently, cheers Wine

noodle I think that sounds quite normal. If you're moving around then gravity does its thing. My period flow tends to get a bit heavier when I'm exercising.

Brilliant news flen Flowers

Waves to everyone else. I'm holding it together, just.

Monten · 19/08/2015 19:31

How was your docs appointment freckle?

Kazz2112 · 19/08/2015 19:36

Hi Home
boddy
. Out if interest how did you go about getting the karyotyping done? we've had 4 miscarriages now and nothing has been done to test for anything genetically and it's something I'd like to rule out.

Noodle are you talking about bleeding post mc? If so I found it was definitely heavier after activity.

Congrats on the scan Flen.

Monten · 19/08/2015 19:49

Hey kazz we got it done as part of RMC investigations. Perhaps ask? It's a funny one though in that if it shows anything, unlikely, there's not really anything they can do about it.

fififolle · 19/08/2015 21:01

Great news flen Smile

Homeboddy49 · 19/08/2015 21:06

Hi Monton SmileI know its really unbelievable they have cancelled again. I think its karyotyping that we are having. Kazz me and DH have never seen anyone yet on the NHS but after the first appt was cancelled I wrote a brilliant letter of complaint that my mum helped me write and that got me a response from the consultant saying they had found abnormalites (no. 8 & no.15) so due to this can we go to our GP and get blood tests asap. As I haven't spoken to anyone at the hospital face to face about this Im assuming its the karyotyping from what you guys have written about on mn.

What I feel frustrated at, is I wonder if I hadn't of written the complaint letter if they would have even told me about the chromosome abnormalities? I was so upset getting the letter in the post as well. I instantly thought I could never have children and there was no one to ask questions. Since doing research online I have now calmed down and have understood this is common. The NHS website says that 60% of miscarriages have chromosome abnormalities and I guess thats just the ones they have tested. We got that letter at the beginning of July.

Kazz2112 · 19/08/2015 22:19

Wondering if it's worth going to my gp and asking about genetic tests? Rather than waiting for the rmc clinic in October.

Any thoughts people?

Spamminit · 20/08/2015 00:17

Hi all, haven't been by the thread in ages but I will catch up! I have my results appointment tomorrow at 3pm. For those that don't remember me or are new since May, I had my 2nd miscarriage in May at 18 weeks and have been waiting for bloods and placental histology. Finally get results tomorrow.

I will update you all on what they say. I don't really know what I am hoping for, answers I guess. The green light to try again. Me and my husband are both in agreement to try again. I am on the pill at the moment as I wanted to get my results before getting pregnant.

I am thinking about starting folic acid now and leaving it a month before trying. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can best prepare?

I haven't read back since I was last here but just saw up thread that Flen is doing great so so pleased for you. I hope everyone else is well.

primarynoodle · 20/08/2015 08:00

thanks monten and kazz i shall stop panicking now!

Flen · 20/08/2015 08:30

Good luck with scans today sun and minnie, and with your results appt spam.

Belleende · 20/08/2015 11:19

Hello all. Just popping back in. flen march cloud fantastic scan news. Onwards and upwards. Look forward to the piles, constipation and insomnia.

monten I always had a major blow out after every mc. Locked myself indoors, chain smoked and mainlined sauv blanc for a week or two. It was like a ritual and I think it did help me. Cleaning my act up was the first sign of picking myself back up. Give yourself complete permission to do whatever you need to. Guilt is such a waare of energy.
freckle sounds like you are having a tough time. Glad the docs are at least taking you seriously. You asked for a bit of thread baby fairy dust. Not sure when the next thread baby is due but I think I was the last. Cissy is asleep on my lap. She is a lovely little thing. We are taking her to Ireland next week. It will be a return to the site of my first mc three years ago. Very symbolic. Your fortunes can turn on a dime. Hang in there lovey.

Belleende · 20/08/2015 11:24

Oh and seb shit you have been chased off the site by the hack. This place is a lifeline for so many women, but given that you have concerns about them getting into other accounts I can see why you have retreated. Total gobshites.

cloudjumper · 20/08/2015 11:34

kazz We also got the karyotyping as part of the standard rmc investigations after the 3rd mc. But I think that they are now not doing them routinely anymore everywhere, so it's well worth asking. I think that all the experiences here on this thread are a prime example of how little standardised rmc investigations are, it is so frustrating!

homebody You should be able to get the thrombophilia testing done through the NHS, I had it done through my GP, I'd definitely ask. Sometimes, GPs can be more helpful than the hospitals.

belle Glad that all is well with you and Cissy. Did you find that you struggled with your mc experiences after giving birth? I'm a bit concerned that it might make us more prone to PND and the likes...

noodle That sounds normal to me, but if you are worried, give the clinic a ring. How heavy is your heavy bleeding, ie. are you soaking a pad within 30min or so? I reckon that physical exertion could well influence that. Are you in any discomfort? It's probably not easy to do this, but you might want to leave the heavy lifting to someone else!

Belleende · 20/08/2015 12:07

Hey cloud I do think that I am now still processing my rmc experience. I am not by nature prone to depression, but I can certainly see that rmc could be a risk factor for pnd. Because she is my first, all of a sudden i became acutely aware of just what had been at stake and how close it came to us never having a child. It did on occasion take my breath away.
I am also mourning for the sibling Cissy doesn't (and may never) have. The joy of her does more than compensate.
