What is this GoT?! Should I be adding it to my list of trash?

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 14:42

snoopy it stands for Game of Thrones. Very gory but compelling viewing.

I was just going through my test results and wondered if those who tested positive for Lupus anticoagulant could remember their test result 'score' ? Mine is 1.02, normal being a range of 0-1.29. I wondered if being the 'high end of normal' could be an argument for me to discuss heparin.

Lovemylittlebear · 10/06/2015 14:48

Hi Sebs

All of my blood tests came back normal but I got put on it anyway as the consultant told me that it could be a change during pregnancy that is not easy to detect. Not sure if that's true but I have taken herparin anyway x

Frecklefire · 10/06/2015 14:51

Indeed march** let it be me too! It's 'A Furchesters never gives' from the Furchesters that i have had in my head for WEEKS! (Actually, at the end of term it was tune of 'don't check out' to 'please fuck off!'
I'm afraid reality tv doesn't rock my boat. Awaiting 'Humans' on sunday night, and the return of my beloved TFI Friday this week though!!!

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 14:52

littlebear your consultant sounds ace. I think I might be able to get progesterone tomorrow if I beg for a private prescription, I'm just finding it difficult to show an argument for heparin and she was very roley eyed about proff Quenby and the implantation clinic, hence why I didn't go ahead.

Frecklefire · 10/06/2015 14:53

Ooo bootles** YAY!!!!! Xxxxx

Lovemylittlebear · 10/06/2015 14:56

It was crgw that gave it me... She have me everything and I don't have to ask she suggested it. Hopefully the nhs will be good but if not and you want a second opinion try there xx

bakingtins · 10/06/2015 14:58

bootles Grin really pleased for you.

good luck tomorrow jady

Lovemylittlebear · 10/06/2015 15:00

brummie - that other thread is awful - purdie doesn't sound terribly Christian in some of her posts...what a shame :( the other lady rose sounds like she needs help with her mental health - however you would think a group of women could band together...life's tough enough as it is without any unkindness. I signed up to the December one in my excitement but after that decided it wasn't for me...can't talk about prams lol or anything like that ...so happy stalking this one now and laughing at some of the prattishness on AIBU - honestly! I wonder if the people that spent all their time on their having a go at one another did some charity work/ or something helpful during their spare time the world would be a better place :) xxx

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 15:03

I read that thread too and thought Purdie was coming across as a sarcy, argumentative cowbag. Charlotte just kept ignoring any other conversation and repeating her worries about the conception indicator test constantly. In fact it's probably exactly the thread for me currently so why I'm not posting over there god only knows.

Marchgirl · 10/06/2015 15:24

sebs, this is what i emailed my consultant about heparin:

The papers I read were 'Heparin prevents cell death in human trophoblast', by Hills et al and 'Effects of low molecular weight heparin and heparin-binding epidermal growth factor on human trophoblast in first trimester' by Chen et al., both of which showed that heparin has a cytoprotective effect, helping the implantation process.

Also of particular note was a study published in Egypt in 2012- 'Low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) for treatment of recurrent miscarriage negatively tested for anti phospholipid antibodies: a randomized controlled trial'. Whilst I realise that this was a relatively small trial, the results of this seem very encouraging: "There was a significant increase in the number of patients who continued beyond 20 weeks of gestation in the study group compared with the control 70.1% versus 54.5 %, respectively (P=0.002). The take home baby rate were also significantly higher in the heparin group compared with the control group 56.7% versus 35.3%; respectively (P=0.001)"

They are actually a nice bunch on the May thread, but I didn't join until after 12 weeks.

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 15:33

March I'm looking at that search term now and I think I can print some stuff off. I can see that my consultant also works privately at the hospital so if she says no in an NHS capacity I will see if I can pay for a private prescription instead.

AnnieHoo · 10/06/2015 15:47

bootlesGrin brilliant scan outcome.

I've just had a random phone call from my GP saying he'd just received the report and could see that id been through a hard time of it and wanted to ask if I was OK. Smile I'm so touched by that and think he is going the extra mile doing this.

I told him that I was well and the only thing that was concerning me was that I dont have answers to my questions about whether I was tested for Factor v Leiden.

After I came up from theatre yesterday the ob/gyn came to see me and told me there was no need for a follow up because under the circumstances there is nothing more he can say to me (in a "surely you must agree" manner) so said he would discharge me from gynae and if I have any questions re the histology results I can ask my GP.

My GP was great and said that he would re refer me for a follow up appointment straight away without me having to ask so I'm pleased about that.

The midwife I had yesterday was mad when she found out the ob/gyn had done this and said I should phone the gynae dept and demand another appt when I'm ready so I'm so glad the GP is doing it for me.

I asked the midwife, the ob/gyn and the head of midwifery if they could please have a look at my notes (the notes were in the room) and tell me if I've been tested for factor v Leiden or not.

Nobody seemed to understand what I was asking. I have been through the results that i have copies of and they are:

Routine coagulation screen
Prothrombin Time 13 secs
Partial thromboplastin time 34 secs
Fibrinogen 4.1

Is this the test for factor V? The midwife kept referring to factor 8.
Should I look into that too?

Brummiegirl15 · 10/06/2015 15:55

Sebs I did wonder if you were going to be a fellow feb person

The thread is bonkers

There is another bat shit crazy thread about to get taken down as it has turned nasty. The one that is "she said is was a miscarriage"

Some real nastiness on there, actually by a poster I've "spoken" to before. She's very young and really struggling with her loss and is lashing out but there is no need for how vile she is being

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 16:00

It sure makes a change from all the sickly sweet shit I'm used to seeing the ante natal threads! It's like the pregnancy anti Christ thread, all the other months are jabbering about prams and nausea and the February people are having a punch up Grin

AnnieHoo · 10/06/2015 16:05

I also saw that "she said she's having a mc" thread, it's just awful.

cloudjumper · 10/06/2015 16:11

Yeah, I also saw that thread - it is heartbreaking, and I can totally see where the lady is coming from, but she is really irrational and obviously struggling coming to terms with it all. It's sometimes scary what grief can do to you...

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 16:12

Ah dammit now I've got into an argument on the thread where the woman with massive anxiety is determined to terminate her healthy pregnancy at 18 weeks. Shouldn't have even opened it up, it's too raw a subject for me.

Catlover2014 · 10/06/2015 16:25

Bootles all I can say is yey! Smile Grin

Will catch up with you all later after my growth scan! X

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 10/06/2015 16:26

Oh gosh seb sometimes I'm so thick! We have game of thrones haha

brummie is this charlotte lady actually sweetcharlotterose or something along those lines? If so there's a post on the conception board as well. I feel sorry for her, she's clearly been wounded by what she's been through but I understand why women who haven't been through a similar ordeal might get upset. People don't like to think a positive test isn't going to end up a baby.

annie I wish I could help but I don't have my results with the reference ranges with me.

I don't think I could ever post on an ante natal thread. If I ever get another bfp I'll stay here.

twilightstruggle · 10/06/2015 16:27

Yes snoopy it was sweetcharlotte - she's in conception is she? I've been worrying about her - poor thing.

sebsmummy1 · 10/06/2015 16:30

Those clear blue tests have a lot to answer for. They are major anxiety inducers!!!

Catlover2014 · 10/06/2015 16:32

Annie so good that the GP called to check on you, how kind. My friend has factor V so I've text her with your question and will come back to you as soon as I can x

twilightstruggle · 10/06/2015 16:35

They are. I wrote a letter dumping clearblue after my last pregnancy because it almost felt like an abusive relationship (not minimising an actual abusive relationship obviously, but it felt like a good analogy at the time). I've sworn never to touch any of their unethical, money-making products again. Dicks. (I feel quite strongly about this)
