girlie Angry that's how I felt after mmc no 3, I was just left in limbo for weeks! If it is bad news and I'm crossing everything it's not can you not opt for surgical management and ask consultant for testing? I found my epu useless!

Brummiegirl15 · 11/05/2015 10:24

Oh girlie big big hugs. Why is the NHS so bloody useless where miscarriage is concerned?

If it's bad news, and I really hope not, could you pay for testing? I'm under no illusion that when the NHS says no, it's down to cost a lot of the time .

I can't believe they won't bring your appointment forward either!!!

Bubblybubbles80 · 11/05/2015 10:33

i think you can get your GP to refer you for additional testing. not all hospitals do the testing as they may not be set up for it. however my st thomas' said they would do testing and its a self referral EPU

Marchgirl · 11/05/2015 10:35

Sadly it does not surprise me that they won't bring your appointment forward girlie. I think they like to have a week between scans so they know how much it should have grown. I'm really surprised they will refuse to do genetic testing on the foetus if the worst happens though. I was told that karyotyping on the parents was not standard anymore as they tested the foetus instead and only if that came up with something would the parents be tested. (Although I'm under nhs Scotland, so it could be different). I would agree that if you do have the awful diagnosis and you can get an erpc then ask the consultant at the time you're there and if they still say no and you can afford it, offer to pay to have it tested privately.
Throughout this, I'm still hoping it doesn't come to it, but understand your need to prepare for the worst even though you are hoping for the best. Huge hugs x

girliesaints · 11/05/2015 10:45

EPU has advised even under medical mgmt they won't test although there may be an option to do it privately. Dh is pretty cross (doesn't happen often) as consultant said they would test the pregnancy matter if happened again. We've agreed depending on cost then we would fund it ourselves. He's also spoken about considering Coventry in the future.

That said I of course hope Wed is good news. Unfortunately I am a lady that likes to plan either way. At least work is understanding (very fortunate to have fab boss) so working from home today whilst I get my head straight. Will go in tomorrow if nothing else changes.

Bubblybubbles80 · 11/05/2015 11:01

girliesaints i have my scan too on wednesday these days can't go fast enough.
I'm like you too i like to plan, i am preparing my self for the worst as i have had 2 scans already and this will be my third

good luck

Sasha it's the pits isn't it? Wish there wasn't the apparent postcode lottery. Understand NHS has limited resources but wish it was the same across the country.

Also blooming wish still had company funded Health insurance which would have helped. Lost it when moved jobs. The irony is One of the reasons I changed jobs was to get better maternity pay!

girliesaints · 11/05/2015 11:21

Bubbly, hopefully wed will be a good day for us?

longestlurkerever · 11/05/2015 11:56

girlie I am sorry about the bleeding. Everything crossed it is not what you fear. Grrr also about testing. Agree we were all told they would do genetic testing after 3. In fact they did attempt it on mine but got no results. I know charlie formerly of this thread paid "only" about 300 quid for private testing arranged through uch though so it must be available for less than3 grand.

Hi all,
Just checking in after being away for a week. Too much to go back and comment on so forgive me if I miss people.

Welcome to those new faces, I am so sorry you find yourself here but I hope it is of some help. There is an amazing amount of knowledge here!

Pop thinking of you today, I hope they have some answers you find some comfort in.

longest yey on getting to mat leave. Sorry it ended on a bit of a downer. Hope the scan is ok.

just how you doing? Sorry to hear you have been in and out of hospital again, hope you’re taking it easy and doing ok.

jady think you have a scan today, good luck. And cloud when is yours?

girlie so sorry you are having the horrible time of bleeding. I really hope it will be ok but I know what it feels like. Hugs.

mrsD yey for good scan and also yey for getting the drugs from the GP.

tanny hope you’re all recovering from the cold and coughs.

For those entering 2ww, good luck, brummie thinking of you and DP, the pressure is horrible.

All ok here, had a lovely week in Greece. 18+4 today and starting to get anxious about the 20 week scan, not till the 1st June so I need to reign in the worry and assume it will be fine. I think RMC gives you a deep seated fear of scans and what they might find Sad

Catlover2014 · 11/05/2015 12:20

Girlie I'm sorry to hear about that, you must be so nervous. I had a bleed early into this pregnancy and feared the worst but all was fine. The nurse at EPU said it's much more common than people realise. Will be keeping everything crossed for you.

I think it's awful that the NHS has such a postcode lottery attitude to infertility and miscarriage. While I agree the NHS is stretched I passionately believe that we should all have acess to the same care and treatment, after all we pay the same taxes. I imagine many women have been unable to get the help they truely needed simply because of where they live while other women will have recieved treatment that is over and above.

It's something that myself and my MP are involved with fighting nationally. I hope all the ladies on here will also find strength to fight their local CCGs and NHS trusts wherever needed so that we can help couples facing issues in the future. Rant over hehe!

x

Jady77 · 11/05/2015 12:28

Girlie I've been told the same that they won't test "products". They did say they would do the karyotyping on us after a 3rd. It is really frustrating to be told it's down to funds, the consultant I spoke to just kept banging on that majority were down to chromosomal issues so wasn't worth the expense. Even when I said, but if it shows a normal result for chromosome surely that will mean you can look into other causes he just waffled on like a politician.

Hope you can find something cheaper than £2k! Really really hoping it won't come to that, but know what you mean about wanting to be organised. It's so frustrating!

Diddly really glad your GP are going to support you, that's great news.

Still waiting for Coventry results here, hoping they'll have then when I get there later. Once received I'm going to send to GP, the consultant that discharged me at RUH and also Southmead epu, see if I get anywhere!

March how was your first poas this morning? Sorry if you've already said, still not caught up properly.

Brummie def sounds like you did enough. I had the same worries, but wasn't as nice as you, I'm afraid to say I did shout and rant at DPBlush.

Sunandrainbow · 11/05/2015 12:31

Trying to catch up quickly while grabbing a sandwich so apologies to those I miss.

girlie - really really hoping that the bleed is nothing but completely know that horrid sinking feeling. Big hugs and we are all here for you. My hospital does testing from mc 3 onwards so that is truly shit if they say they won't ever test, although have everything crossed for you that doesn't come to that and that your scan on weds is good.

sea - 18 weeks wow! Hopefully once you have 20 week scan under your belt, you can start to relax a little.

Welcome to all newcomers - really sorry that you find yourself here but there is a huge wealth of knowledge and support on this thread.

X

Marchgirl · 11/05/2015 12:37

Bfn jady, thanks for asking. Totally expected so I'm not at all bothered, but pretty sure I won't be saying I'm not bothered in a couple of days! Obviously symptom spotting like mad. Had a metallic taste this morning and a tiny bit of pink when i wiped, so today I'm thinking it's a possibility, even though yesterday i was totally convinced I wasn't! Ah, the joys of the tww

Sunandrainbow · 11/05/2015 13:30

march - keeping fingers crossed for you. x

longestlurkerever · 11/05/2015 13:40

Fx march. the 2ww is the pits, isn't it? Hard to concentrate on anything else.

Welcome back bythesea. Glad you had a good time. Know what you mean about scans - just back from my final growth scan, which was fine, but was so nervous even though I had one 3 weeks ago and can feel her kicking and moving. Induction booked for 4 June if she doesn't arrive naturally before then.

Purplefrogshoes · 11/05/2015 13:45

Not long now longest I don't think the anxiety ever goes away. I'm going in tomorrow for elcs and really terrified something is going to be wrong

bythesea82 · 11/05/2015 13:55

Wow purple you're there! Good luck tomorrow, I am sure it'll be fine. We'll be looking forward to an update Grin
longest less than a month!

Catlover2014 · 11/05/2015 14:01

Great news longest. It's not long to go until you have your little rainbow baby in your arms. So happy for you :)

Sea really pleased you're 18 weeks, that's great and seems to have gone fast. I was so nervous when I went to my 20 week scan but I felt much happier and more confident once that was behind me. The lady who did my scan was kind, I was in tears as she was putting the jelly on. She said while things can go wrong later on in the pregnancy it's uncommon and most of the time the 20 week scan delivers only happy news.

Sorry I'm doing a dreadful job at keeping up with everyone. Work is unpleasent as my manager is being rather difficult at the moment so that has me all stressed out. Really need to go off on maternity leave to get away from it all, just have three more weeks of it to survive!

longestlurkerever · 11/05/2015 14:08

purple - Wow, how exciting! Best of luck.

bythesea - yes, it's less than 3 weeks till my due date (induction is a long stop) so could be any time really. Only just starting to dawn on me how close it really is!

Sorry about your manager cat - hope the next 3 weeks go quickly.

bakingtins · 11/05/2015 14:40

Good luck tomorrow purple so thrilled you are finally at the finish line. We will be looking out for a birth announcement Smile Flowers Smile

bakingtins · 11/05/2015 14:50

girlie sasha www.patient.co.uk/doctor/recurrent-miscarriage this guideline says genetic testing should be offered on 3rd loss.

TinyTear · 11/05/2015 14:51

Good luck purple
So happy for you.
My miracle baby is 6 weeks tomorrow.
