Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

charlie Yey, great news Grin

flen good luck tomorrow, don't let him distract you from your questions with his crazy fast talking!
brummie glad acupuncture was good, def interested to try it

Hi to everyone else

Marchgirl · 15/01/2015 20:00

Your acupuncture sounds good brummie. After chatting to everyone about it last week I've booked a session too, but the first one they had available was 3rd Feb, so still got a couple of weeks to wait. Found one that does the community sessions (cheap), so hoping to do that after the first consult. Looking forward to it now it comes so highly recommended!

bootles · 15/01/2015 21:07

Charlie that's fantastic news!

flen do report back with your consultants comments. I hope it goes well. After 5 losses I am still asking why...despite having high NK cells, the treatment didn't help me this time, and I feel there is more to it but what is it?! Have your list at the ready, and don't leave until you have addressed all the questions!

brummie really glad you limed the acupuncture. Just one thing..dont assume your lining is thin because of your short periods...mine are the same, and used to be longer, but at Coventry he measured my lining on the scan and said it was a really good 11mm. Great that you have a diet plan to work on though, and anything that relaxes you has got to be good. I'd like to try it but really afford it right now.

Tanny hope you are resting up.

longest, yup, it really looks like this is happening for you!

Monten · 15/01/2015 21:55

Amazing charlie! Brilliant news.

This lining thing bugs me. My lining was 6 mm when they scanned me at rmc and they described it as thin but when I questionned if it was an issue they insisted it was fine. I hate feeling fobbed off!

barkingtreefrog · 15/01/2015 22:53

I'm another one paranoid about a thin lining. A short luteal phase and then short, light periods, plus the thrombophilia (which may have nothing to do with it but I have no idea) can't add up to a nice thick lining for the embryo to bed into, can it?
I'll definitely be asking at my scan next week.

MamaLazarou · 16/01/2015 07:54

Hello. Sorry to barge in. I was referred here by some lovely people in the pregnancy folder.

I am 6.5 wks with my 3rd pregnancy. I have one healthy, wonderful son, born 2010. My second pregnancy ended in MC last September (had gone for an early scan following spotting).

The bleeding started yesterday and has continued through the night. I'm not even going to bother going to the early pregnancy unit this time (until it is over). Fortunately, I had a day off work today, too, and so does DH.

I am heartbroken.

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2015 07:54

I'm sorry, I've probably asked this before but I can't remember what my consultant said and the nurse at my scan confused me. If I was going to take aspirin, when should I start? I can't remember whether the consultant said after the insemination or after a bfp, but the nurse thought it was from the beginning of the cycle. If you took aspirin, when did you start taking it?

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2015 07:56

So sorry mama, Thanks. You'll find plenty of support on here.
Glad you're at home, look after yourself today Thanks.

Justonemoretime · 16/01/2015 08:09

Barking, avoid, avoid, avoid aspirin prior to bfp, and many people (latest research) says avoid altogether. Check with your consultant before taking it.
Mama, sorry you find yourself here. I hope the mc is physically as pain free as it can be. Hope you get a referral soon. If you can, save it when you mc and get genetic testing. Sorry, I know its grim. The results will be a great benefit in helping you find the probable cause and treatment. After 3 MCs you're entitled to this testing, so push for it if you can bear to. Good luck. x

Just I've been diagnosed with blood clotting issues, so I do have a reason to take it that I believe on balance is worth any potential risk.
Thanks, I'll stick to post bfp if I get that far. The consultant did say he advised taking it but it was up to me. The other consultant at the rmc said she wouldn't, as there was a small risk. I think for me the potential benefit outweighs the small risk.

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2015 08:29

Ha! I said that twice, think I might still be trying to convince myself!!!

Boozle80 · 16/01/2015 08:46

Mama so sorry you find yourself here but everyone is brilliant - it's the best shit place to ever find yourself. Definitely if you can bare it, get tested - to have to go through this is horrendous without support and having a focus helped me

When I asked my consultant about Asprin she said heparin would be better from BFP instead of the asprin and before that not to use either. She gave me a scan at about five and a half weeks I think - I'll have to check - so I could have the heparin as soon as poss. It's so hard to know what to do!

Marchgirl · 16/01/2015 09:02

Welcome and Sorry you find yourself here mama, but there is plenty of support and masses of collective knowledge from the ladies here. They have been a lifeline to many of us. Take care of yourself and consider taking at least some more time off, as long as you need.

Belleende · 16/01/2015 09:07

I keep typing mega updates but keep losing them just as I am about to hit post and ending up on mn local. Here goes again.
charlie fab news. Welcome to your second trimester.
tanny sounds like you have had a traumatic few days. Now the funeral is over hopefully you can get back to focusing on yourself, bump and your family. All else is noise.
purple sounds like some tact and diplomacy training is desperately needed in your workplace. Astounding behaviour.
mamma welcome, sorry you find yourself here, but you will find hope and support in equal measures.
cloud boo to af. By my reckoning your next window is round valentines. If feasible maybe try and get away for a few days. Take the pressure off and have some fun?

I have been playing with my new Doppler all week. I can see why midwives don't like them. Took me a few minutes to find heartbeat first time round and I did feel the anxiety rising, but have always been able to find it. Donut is definitely making its presence felt more. Does not like tight waist bands.

cloudjumper · 16/01/2015 09:08

barking Just to make things more confusing about aspirin - I have been advised by the obstetric haematologist consultant to take baby aspirin from BFP (as well as heparin), and this is due to a past history of DVT. So that might be an argument for taking it, if you do have clotting issues.
But I agree that you should really speak to your consultant about this, and/or the consultant should talk to the haematologist. My GP has phoned the haematologist in the past, to get clarification about this as well, so you could try asking yours?
Things like this always make me realise how shoddy the health service in this country can be sometimes - you (the patient) always has to take the initiative and end up running from pillar to post, it's exhausting!

Mama So sorry to hear about your worries. However, if you are bleeding strongly, I think you should see a HCP, to make sure that nothing is missed... And I would say, do not lose all hope just yet! Flowers

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2015 09:14

Boozle I'll be on dalteparin from bfp (low dose heparin) due to the thrombophilia. The aspirin would be on top of that.

barkingtreefrog · 16/01/2015 09:16

Sorry, xpost cloud - I have spoken to the consultant, I just couldn't remember when he said it should start!!!

longestlurkerever · 16/01/2015 09:25

Mama I am glad you came to find us. I am so sorry for your loss.

Have I misunderstood or is this actually your second mc, with your first pregnancy being your ds? If so, the NHS may not offer testing, although some on this thread have managed to persuade their GP either to do some basic tests or refer them if there were other issues eg age or infertility. Many of us have found mc2 the most upsetting of all, as it leaves you in a certain limbo with no referral but without being able to fully believe in the "just bad luck" line any more. Some of us have pursued private testing which we can tell you more about if it interests you, but I agree testing on the embryo can give the best answers if you are able to get a result, though I tried following a natural mc and it came back with no result, which was gutting.

The good news is that your odds of a healthy pregnancy remain very good. There are lots of good news stories on here even after 5 or more losses. In the meantime, concentrate on looking after yourself. Don't rush back to work. Big hugs.

tannyLoo · 16/01/2015 09:42

Had a call from the local vets this morning. My cat was killed by a car.

twilightstruggle · 16/01/2015 09:45

Oh Tanny. I'm so sorry. What horrible news and so not what you need on top of everything else. Hugs to you.

Glad you've found your way over here Mama and sorry again for your loss. Best shittest place to be.

cloudjumper · 16/01/2015 10:00
