Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Thanks all. My BP does tend to be low. It was the loss of hearing that really freaked me out. Docs at 11.20. I love my surgery.

tannyLoo · 08/01/2015 10:26

Belle I've had a rushing sound in my ears occasionally when my blood pressure is low all the time when I'm not pg, but I definitely agree that getting it checked out is the best thing.

tannyLoo · 08/01/2015 10:29

And Just perfectly normal. At 16 weeks I got very occasional flutters, but quite a lot of braxton hicks, which is pretty early. They were sporadic movements and would go days in between.

longestlurkerever · 08/01/2015 11:11

My movements are still sporadic at nearly 20 weeks, just.

Belle, that sounds like a more extreme version of the funny turns I had a few times this pregnancy. I think low blood sugar might play a role too as I tended to feel better after some juice or similar.

girliesaints · 08/01/2015 11:54

Apologise ranting coming up.

So had long awaited referral after last MC this morning. Saw a registrar who agreed investigations were needed (hurrah!) which consist of the standard bloods and scan of uterus. Did discuss potential taking aspirin (really) and that he didn't believe in nk cells. (No surprise there) Off he then went to see the consultant who apparently then disagreed with the aspirin (!) Then had to wait 30 mins whilst they worked out how to order the blood tests. Then off to book follow up appointment which they've given me as the 26th March, which is 6 months after the last MC! Not happy lady. Got the consultant's secretary name so will give her a call to see if I can get an earlier appointment. There is also no cancellation list.

Bellende- hope everything is ok with you x

girliesaints · 08/01/2015 11:56

Forgot to add currently sat in the blood test queue, which is approx 1 hour long. Only the third set of tests done since the last MC. Apparently the others were the wrong ones!

cloudjumper · 08/01/2015 12:09

girlie The consultant I saw for the post-mortem of my last mc also didn't believe in NK cells (he used the word 'snake oil', amongst other expressions Grin). I didn't want to start a discussion about the research of Quenby/Brosen at the time.

belle Hope you are feeling better. Sounds pretty 'normal' to me, things like that do happen when pg, but do get checked for your peace of mind.

just Totally normal at 16 weeks! Esp if you have decent abs/stomach muscles, which I think you mentioned you do. I didn't feel anything before 20 weeks with DS.

Got my consultant appt this evening... no idea what to expect, but starting to feel apprehensive. And annoyed with DH who has clearly no idea why we are going there. Or wants to bother finding out about it and what questions to ask - all down to me, as usual Angry

girliesaints · 08/01/2015 12:14

Cloud- my dh was the same and almost didn't make the appointment as he was busy at work (!) funny enough snake oil was mentioned by the registrar....

Belleende · 08/01/2015 12:18

Back from docs. Officially a funny turn, or is medical terms a vaso-vagal episode.
heard bambinos heart beat, so all seems good there. Have had iron checked. Feeling reassured but knackered. Duvet and judge Judy for me this pm.
Sorry your appointment was frustrating girlie. Really frustrating that two experts in the same hospital can't even agree on something as simple as aspirin. At least things are moving. Maybe you can get your blood results and then go private?

Belleende · 08/01/2015 12:25

cloud I hope you get some answers today that will help you move forward. Sorry your DH isn't so involved, maybe he is chalking this up to "women's stuff". My OH struggles as well. I think he expects me to take the lead (which I do) so he sits back a bit.

Does Coventry have any data on success rates? Might answer a few sceptics.

FFS - appointment just got cancelled, they had double-booked the consultant! AngryAngry
DH is doing a lot of late evening meetings and travelling over the next few weeks, so it'll be a real struggle to rearrange soon-ish, grrrr...

Sunandrainbow · 08/01/2015 13:11

Oh cloud - just AngryAngryAngry.

Have they specifically said your dh should attend the appointment too? At mine they didn't do any testing on him although of course I wanted him there for support etc. in the interest of getting rebooked more quickly, would you feel up to going to it on your own. Then if they did want to do any testing on him, he could go in at another point?

Big hugs.

Sunandrainbow · 08/01/2015 13:25

sasha - big hugs to you too. I have implemented a facebook ban as an so sick of seeing pregnancy announcements, bump and baby photos (although I know it is lovely for my friends and I feel very mean, but just can't face it at the moment). X

bakingtins · 08/01/2015 13:30

Cloud that's so crap, I am Angry on your behalf - you've been waiting so long for this.

girlie hope you have got to the front of the queue for bloods and that you can expedite a follow up appointment. I got the snake oil line from my local RMC registrar as well but since they could offer no explanation at all why my perfectly normal embryo had died for the 4th time they didn't really have a leg to stand on. I hope that by having success on the Coventry treatment they will be more open to it in future and mention it as an option to anyone else who has got no answers from the standard tests. I did discuss it a lot with the consultant during my pregnancy.

belle hope you are feeling ok. I keeled over a lot in all my pregnancies - combination of low blood pressure and low blood sugar seemed to do it for me. Take it as a signal to take things easy!

just sporadic movements are absolutely normal to start with, just enjoy the flutters when they happen and don't be anxious when they don't, until you are 20+ weeks (think it's from 24 you are supposed to feel regular movement every day?)

sasha sending you ((HUGS)) it is bloody hard to see others get so easily what you long for. I found MC2 the hardest of all, I think. Though I was devastated by MC1 it was easy enough to accept that the baby had some chromosome problem and there couldn't have been any other outcome, and that it was common and that lots of women have a miscarriage and go on to have a healthy pregnancy blah blah blah - all true enough. Then just when you think you've had your bad luck MC2 kicks you up the bum and it's so hard to take. In a way, should you suffer subsequent MC it's a bit easier (though still obviously shit) because you've accepted that you have some sort of medical problem and because the establishment condescends to help you, at least a little.

bakingtins · 08/01/2015 13:36

andcounting liking your plan! 1) Yes you can request a print out of any results you've had done so far, and I would try to take them to 4) local RMC so any omissions can be addressed. If that's difficult no reason the GP can't do the taking and sending off of blood, mine did on the advice of my private gynae consultant. 2) Yay and that means 3) no TTC until you've had your biopsy. Hopefully that will give you a plan and a healthy pregnancy so 5) becomes unnecessary!

bakingtins · 08/01/2015 13:43

Thanks everyone who commented about telling DS, I really love tiny's idea about the tree picture too. Maybe there's a sideline for your friend taking commissions. I think at the moment if it comes up again I'll tell him that there was a problem with me that made it difficult to grow a baby (he knows I visited hospital a lot when pregnant with Faith) but gloss over that it was 4 babies at the moment. I have an adult friend whose mum had a miscarriage between her and her sister (when she would have been too young to remember it) but she definitely still thought about it in terms of that being a potential sibling. I certainly think of each of them in terms of being an individual baby, but I don't want to heap sadness on him. You are probably right that he's a good age to be matter of fact about it.

bythesea82 · 08/01/2015 14:18

Hi all,
Just a quick check in before the next meeting...
Bootles I hope you are ok and looking after yourself.
Brummie sorry you've had bleeding and horrible headaches.
Sasha some days are just out to get you and test your resolve to be a good friend!
cloud so frustrating, hope you get it rebooked soon.
Cake and Brew for everyone else. Smile

Marchgirl · 08/01/2015 14:36

Angry cloud. How utterly frustrating! Hope you can get it rearranged soon.

sasha hugs. It just isn't fair.

Thanks to everyone who had replied about the agnus castus and the acupuncture. I have checked and it seems they have the cheap acupuncture sessions here too (thanks for the tip tanny). So I Think I Might try it as it's more affordable at half price. If that doesn't help (and I don't catch soon) them I'll think about the a.c. ,slightly nervous about something that's not wholly recommended by everyone

Cloud, bloody bollocking bollocks. Really hope you get an early cancellation.

barkingtreefrog · 08/01/2015 16:20

girlie you gave me a much needed laugh earlier, referring to when you were pg with DH Grin
I'm not surprised about the differing opinions on aspirin, we had exactly the same. Hope you weren't waiting too long for the bloods.

sasha nail on head there with the knowing it will hurt but looking anyway. I was due in Feb and have a mate who lives close by due the same time, her bump makes me cry every time, and DH's best mate has a baby born within a couple of weeks of our first due date. Constant reminder that we might have had a 7 month old right now.

Argh, cloud that's so frustrating Angry

Justonemoretime · 08/01/2015 17:34

Cloud, how annoying. Hope you get a re-schedule soon. Grrr on your behalf.
Belle, glad you're OK! How scary! Take it easy, that's an order!
Thanks for the sanity check on movement, everyone!

longestlurkerever · 08/01/2015 18:23

Exactly what tanny said! And same for girlie too. I really hate getting messed around like that.

How horrible this terror stuff in Paris is. I want the world to be perfect for our babies!

bootles · 08/01/2015 18:28

girlie thanks for feedback re headaches. I'm still getting them, and feel drained, but no time to rest really. Headaches seem really common as per Dr Google, but surely hormones should have left my system 10 days post erpc. Annoying.

justwith DS I felt nothing until 18 wks then nothing for another few days I think. At 16 weeks your baby is just too little for you to feel regular movements.

belle hope you are ok now. Again with DS I had similar - lots of near fainting episodes, and went deaf in one ear for weeks. Pregnancy does weird things to your body.

barking grrrr to the 'finished grieving' comment. I haven't even begun to deal with my losses properly!

cloud dammit. I know you were really hanging on for this appointment. By the way My OH would be exactly the same. He still seems to know worrying little about mc. I am the driving force for everything.
