Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Hey all! How is everyone, I've had a little read back but can't go too far as in my phone. Just wanted to let you all know just had my 12 week scan and all is looking good! The little monster was fast asleep and even downing a pint of diet coke didn't wake him up! It made him sporadically sit up and then immediately fall asleep but that was it. Lovely heartbeat pumping away so we're over the moon - that silence before the sonographer speaks is horrendous isn't it!

Boozle80 · 20/12/2014 16:05

Longest that's great news - hopefully you can try and enjoy the next week now - you've probably put everything on hold up until now!

TinyTear · 20/12/2014 16:34

Great news boozle!

bakingtins · 20/12/2014 17:21

Fab news boozle

I hope I didn't come across as complaining earlier. I'm firmly resolved not to whinge about anything with F, I know just how lucky I am to have her keeping me awake.

Monten · 20/12/2014 17:32

Aargh! Just wrote a long post and lost it.

Congrats bootle and boozle - amazing news.

Fab longest that must be a huge relief.

Sorry af got you cloud she arrived here too. Very light again so I back to worrying about thin lining.

When is your consultant appointment ? I hope you get some clear direction and I hope it's positive too. I'm really sure it will be. How long has it been since last MC?

I have made a plan, altho it may change. New year = accupuncture and supplements to improve lining. Also GP appt to kick start NHS fertility investigations. Await results from repeat ms clinic. If still no bfp and no improvement in periods by march then I'll go for the (very expensive) private hysterocopy.

This plan may change but I feel better just having written it down Grin

Meanwhile Wine to everyone who is able to partake. Here's hoping for a flurry of bfps in Jan.

And Cake to those who can't partake, you are a daily reminder to me that it is possible and it hopefully will happen. Flowers

Marchgirl · 20/12/2014 18:17

Yay boozle! What a great way to go into Christmas.
Sorry af got you monten Sad. Fingers crossed for New year New start.

bootles · 20/12/2014 18:37

longest phew what a relied! Fantastic news and hope now you can relax and enjoy christmas. That sounds like the best present.

boozle great news!

monten that sounds like a plan, and agree tbat it definitely helps to have a course of action - which can of course be changed at any time. Best of luck.

girlie hope tonight goes well, it sounds like you found a good solution.

belle it is your turn. Enjoy your evening. And the crying thing is partly hormonal too I think. I suppressed a lot of tears over the last two and half years, and now find myself crying on the bus, at work, watching 'frozen' with DS.....

baking madam F must be getting big! I know she is over 6 months now, and when I first came on here you were still pregnant. Its definitely allowed to note the more difficult aspects of parenthood, we all know how grateful you feel to have her, and how much you went through to get her, bless her, and lack of sleep is tough!

longestlurkerever · 20/12/2014 23:11

Yeay boozle more good news! Hugs to monten though. Glad you have a plan.

Don't worry baking I don't want support for a mother going through sleepless nights to be another thing rmc robs you of. We don't need to be saints on top of everything else.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Feeling happy. Off to dm' s on Monday for Christmas. Can be quite hard work but have two lots of happy news to hang on to.

Thinking of Tanny and hoping she is ok. Losing my dad is still the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Xx

Marchgirl · 21/12/2014 07:08

monten, hopefully you won't get that far to need this, but I have heard of a clinic in Greece that does hysteroscopy for about 1500 quid I think. You'd definitely want to research it all beforehand but from what people were saying it seemed legit. It was one of the boards, I think possibly on baby centre, talking about Greek hidden infections (that bit sounded a bit quack med). Even with a flight out there it sounds cheaper than you've found here, but I would advise looking at people's experiences first. Anyone here have experience with the Greek clinic?

Monten · 21/12/2014 07:41

Thanks march. The reason it's so expensive is its with a specialist consultant - one of only two who Asherman's specialists in the uk (apparently). The cost includes hysterocopy and removal of any adhesions. The thing is - I don't know if I have adhesions and the only way to tell is with a hysterocopy. Apparently a non specialist can do more harm than good if they try to remove them. So do you pay for the ashermans specialist, hoping they'll find nothing, or pay less for a diagnostic only hysterocopy with a non specialist, and if they do find something have to go to the specialist anyway. It's all very confusing. Not helped by the NHS basically not believing ashermans exists, despite much evidence from women to the contrary. Not rare, just rarely diagnosed is a phrase I have heard.

Flowers to you longest and tanny. I lost my dad four years ago, also to cancer. Just been with my mum who has now started seeing someone else. She's happy and so I'm happy but it's so so hard. X

Justonemoretime · 21/12/2014 08:34

Monten, sorry, I can't remember all you history details, but if you were able to get a referral to St Mary's, they'd do a hysteroscopy and any corrections in the NHS. I had one for suspected ashermans and it turned out to be a septum which prof Regan removed. I also had v short AFs, hence the concern that it might be ashermans. Failing that, an hsg might be a cheaper way to at least show up any adhesions and then you can decide whether to invest in the invasive option? All I'm saying is that your symptoms seem quite similar to mine, and I'm sure there's a way to investigate without spending ££££. There are also some top gynaecologists at uclh who could investigate if you could get a referral there? And then there's Coventry for £360. They will scan you but it will be a by someone who really knows what they're doing (Prof Quenby or Brosens) if they're concerned, they'll advise an hsg on the NHS to at least know what's what. Good luck. x

Monten · 21/12/2014 10:17

Thank you just that's incredibly good advice. My rmc is at Kings. I'm going to make an appointment with my GP and push hard for a referral to either st Mary's or a gynae at Kings. Failing that Coventry. What would I do without MN?! This site has been a godsend since this whole journey began. Hope you're well and bump is looking forward to Christmas Xmas Smile

girliesaints · 21/12/2014 11:48

Boozle- fab news and another milestone checked off

Baking- think you've earnt every right to have the odd baby moan

Moulton- glad you got a plan and getting some really good advice on here

Girly night went ok and I even managed to see a photo of my friends baby and not break down.

Hope everyone if having a fab day either starting festivities, finishing shopping or just chilling. We have an open house this afternoon for our close friends and kids. Going to be hectic and then need to start present wrapping tonight!

Marchgirl · 21/12/2014 12:48

Glad your night out went ok girlie. Well done for not hiding away, which is certainly what I have felt like doing until very recently. Your turn will come soon x

Me2Me2 · 21/12/2014 21:36

Hi again. I've been popping into this thread - it moves very fast tho! Can't quite keep up but hurray for all the recent good scans.

monten what makes you think you have thin lining and does your doc/consultant have a view on this? I'm wondering about it in my own case - first period after erpc was v light.

bakingtins · 22/12/2014 08:06

me2 I wouldn't worry about it on a WTF cycle, most of the lining will have been removed during ERPC and the hormones are not normal that first cycle. Only be concerned if it's the case over several cycles.

Monten · 22/12/2014 09:06

As baking says me2 I wouldn't worry about it on the first cycle.

Mine was extremely light for first AF ( really barely there at all) and has continued to be light. I've never had heavy periods tho so not sure how much to worry. This last one has been better (TMI alert!) it's gone on for three days now and filling about half a medium flow tampax every 12 hours. I don't know if that's classed as light but its better for me.

Morning all Xmas Smile Back to work for 2.5 more days then Christmas.

Me2Me2 · 22/12/2014 09:22

If only I could not worry! I got pregnant after my first period after my erpc and miscarried again. I've convinced myself the second mc was due to thin lining following the op, as my period was v light as was the miscarriage. So now I don't know I I should try again or wait.
I'm even thinking of going for a lining scan. I am obsessed

Hope your next few days of work are short and easy

Monten · 22/12/2014 13:41

I know it's so hard not to worry. When I had my rmc appointment they measured my lining and I overheard them referring to it as 'thin' but when I asked if it was a cause for concern the answer was an unequivocal no. I wish I had quizzed her more about that. I think anything you can do, within reason, to reassure you is a good thing. Sometimes you don't get the reassuring answer you were hoping for however, as with me, and you end up worrying about something that (according to them) is nothing to be concerned about. Sorry, I'm not being much help. I would say if you're worried - see someone. If only to ask questions.

Me2Me2 · 22/12/2014 13:58

Thanks. As I understand it the lining is thin after your period so if your appt was early in the month, could it be that? My consultant scanned me after this last mc and noted thin endometrium and said its what he would expect at that point. But I'm in a spin about light AF equating with thin lining. He is willing to run all tests but says wait for my period - but I can't take the worry so might go after I've ov'ed anyway (my body seems about to). I'm so desperate to put my mind at rest, tho as you say, there are no guarantees

Justonemoretime · 22/12/2014 14:08

I found a letter this morning in which my 2.2 mm lining on day 21 was described as 'abnormally thin' by St Mary's. If yours is more than that, you're probably ok. I had acupuncture to help. No idea if it did, but I'm pg now so there's hope for you ladies yet. I appreciate it is hard not to worry, though.

OP posts:
Justonemoretime · 22/12/2014 14:13

FYI, that letter was Oct 2013. By the time I was scanned in Coventry at about the same point in my cycle in March 2014 my lining was about 6mm. This was still considered on the thin side, but was OK. I had had a month of hrt after the septum was removed in late Oct 2013, but other than that, it was just acupuncture, so that's what I think made the difference. I had a session a week for a year, so an investment, but I do think it helped.

OP posts:
Monten · 22/12/2014 20:27

Thanks just that's super helpful. Mine was 6mm on cd21 so not too bad it seems. This af has now lasted four days too which is an improvement. Perhaps it has taken this long to get back to 'normal'. Here's hoping.

I'm definitely doing acupuncture again. I went last year and conceived the week I started! I think that was a coincidence tho Hmm

bythesea82 · 22/12/2014 21:57

Just as I was beating the Christmas blues I found out a 3rd one of my friends is expecting within a few days of when the last bean would have been due. Just feeling totally sideswiped-you all know the feeling. Really had enough of trying to have Christmas cheer Sad
Hope you're all having a better evenings.
Oh, bootles great news, sorry meant to message before Flowers

Marchgirl · 22/12/2014 22:12

Sorry you've had an unexpected baby bomb bythesea. It's so hard when it catches you off guard Sad
I managed to baby bomb myself last week. Noticed a colleague was drinking v slowly at our Christmas do (ie not drinking) so after a few drinks I asked her and she is 12 weeks. She wasn't due her scan until the week after so isn't telling work til after Christmas. She then asked me if I'd Sit next to her and drink her drinks so nobody noticed, so had a whole afternoon of it. Arghhhhhh Hmm
My own fault , I know.
