OP posts:
tannyLoo · 11/11/2014 08:45

I was given it from good scan, which was about 5 weeks I think, but it wasn't seen as a problem starting it later. Might be looking at some of the Profs Quenby and Brosens research, which talks about using heparin from first scan, I'm sure...

Flen · 11/11/2014 10:26

I'm back in the EPU, brilliant. After the NHS debacle yesterday, they said to do a pregnancy test, which I did and it's still positive. Awaiting a scan. Woo!

Belleende · 11/11/2014 10:51

Sorry flen I am really confused or just slow. Is it residual hcg or might you be pregnant?

Flen · 11/11/2014 11:38

Belle It is me being panicky I think, and not explaining well!

Residual tissue, it turns out. They think that that is what is accounting for the positive test result, and that it should work its way out. No chance I could be pregnant anew yet, we haven't even bd since the D&C, mainly because the bleeding has continued - and now I know why.

I am relieved that is all it is, was having visions of infections and scar tissue and infertility...

The only annoying thing is that it has a knock on effect on when I can be tested for stuff, because that has to be 6 weeks from a negative pregnancy test. So now I have to do a pregnancy test weekly, and if it is still positive in three weeks, I have to go back. Good job we are not TTC at this time, otherwise it would get very confusing.

cloudjumper · 11/11/2014 13:28

flen So sorry that you are still on that rollercoaster Sad Hope that it resolves itself all soon, so that you can move on. Will they not give you another ERPC for the retained tissues? How long do they say it takes to 'work its way out'?
Do look after yourself, what a drag!

Longest thinking of you, with everything crossed!

I'll read the whole thread later, just wanted to quickly check the latest news. I'm back from Germany, had a nice weekend seeing my sister.
Aaaannnd it turns out that I might not be out of the running this month after all. My body seems to be alternating now between short and normal-ish cycles, so I had a unexpected and really strong +ve OPK on Sunday, then a peak on the CBFM yesterday morning! Dtd last night (in spite of getting home really late from the airport, poor DH) and will do again tonight for good measure (still peak on the CBFM). So I might be in the 2ww this month after all...

TinyTear · 11/11/2014 13:48

cloud I've been on one coffee a day... no harm there...

Did you survive well travelling with DS on your own?

girliesaints · 11/11/2014 14:06

flen- January is a consultant appointment. I've had lots of bloods already taken by my GP so not sure if I will need more or not. Would be good to have someone going through around a similar time.

girliesaints · 11/11/2014 14:09

Can I ask if anyone else has suffered heavier periods following a MC? With each MC I'm finding my periods have got much heavier and this time I'm having to change pads every hour few hours (sorry if tmi) and in constant pain. Not sure if a coincidence or not?

Boozle80 · 11/11/2014 15:52

Mine got slightly lighter if anything following my ERPC's. That said I've heard of lots of people getting heavier ones afterwards

Boozle80 · 11/11/2014 15:53

How are you Longest?

Marchgirl · 11/11/2014 15:58

Oh flen. So sorry to hear that. That's exactly what happened to me the week before last, had to go in for another scan and blood test as I was still passing clots 3 weeks after mc. The scan was fine but hcg was still at 100 so must have retained tissue. Mine is now negative on boots test, 1wk 4 days after the test at 100, so fx crossed yours will pass v soon too.

I've not had much change in periods girlie, but I know this can happen. Sure I've read on one of the boards about people having treatment for this but can't remember where. sorry!

Flen · 11/11/2014 16:27

March I had an inkling that was what you went through too. So frustrating! Will do another test in a week and see how we go. They said they didn't think it was worth doing hcg in bloods at this point. I don't know how you felt, but I just feel like I want it to be done now please! When is your next appt?

Thank you cloud. They said it should just, I don't know, come out?! It was only small, so not worth ERPC or medical management, and that if a pregnancy test is still positive in three weeks, then I need to go back to look again.

I also had a cyst on my ovary, which made the scan blimmin' painful, and which they said was most likely because I had just ovulated. Bodies are so weird! Retained pregnancy tissue, positive pregnancy test AND ovulation?! Mental.

girlie glad to know there will be a January pal. My periods have always been the same after m/c. It sounds like you are going through it. Look after yourself.

cloudjumper · 11/11/2014 16:33

girlie I think that this is very common, but if you are worried, speak with your GP and/or consultant. There is no 'normal' after an mc, I would tend to generalise...
For me, it is usually only the first period after a mc that is really bad, but then I'm back to what they were before. I now get one day very heavy (having to change tampons/pads every 1.5-2 hours) and then it ebbs of very quickly - if anything, my periods are shorter now, and not painful anymore at all (used to be on painkillers for the first 2 days before). Sorry, this is not helpful at all!
This is probably not applicable to you (and again not helpful), given that you are most likely a spring chicken Wink, but my SIL went to her GP with really heavy periods (she's also had mcs) and was diagnosed with early menopause... So it is not necessarily always connected with the mcs!

tiny This trip was without DS, thankfully Grin

Any news, longest?!

girliesaints · 11/11/2014 16:55

Thanks for the comments. Not really worried, more frustration as having to pop to the toilet a lot at the moment which isn't very convenient ?? Hopefully it will settle down over the next few months but will speak to the consultant at my appointment in January if it doesn't. Blooming bodies!

Boozle80 · 11/11/2014 17:54

Argh, I've started spotting again. Really hope the sonographer just dislodged something yesterday and has caused a bit of a bleed...

Marchgirl · 11/11/2014 18:07

Yes flen, I found it very frustrating and quite upsetting at the time, as it felt like i was back to square 1. In the end i decided it was my body's way of saying it wasn't ready to try again yet. The body is quite clever, even if it's a bit weird!
Btw, Yours could literally be my story! My scan also showed a large corpus luteum cyst on my ovary, which still remains from my last pregnancy. I would suspect that's what you have too if it was big enough to cause you pain, rather than a new cyst. I'm not sure when it's supposed to go down but hopefully it's started now my hcg is back down to 0.

My Blood is taken next week so just hope it's not too soon after hcg dropped to get correct results.

Marchgirl · 11/11/2014 18:10

Cross post boozle. I'm sure you're probably right that is just dislodged some old blood. the scan was all good yesterday so best to concentrate on that x

Justonemoretime · 11/11/2014 18:31

Boozel, I'm sure that's it. It's very unsettling though, isn't it. Hope it settles soon. x

Belleende · 11/11/2014 18:43

Still no word from longest? Hope all is ok and she just dropped her phone down the bog.
boozle sounds like spotting is a fairly common if worryING side effect from some of your treatments. That on top of the poking and prodding - you are a ways off having cause for a full scale freak out.
flen enforced waiting is a massive frustration, but may be just what your body needs. Also means you could enjoy the odd Christmas tIpple. Every cloud and all that.
I am working off zero sleep this week. Feeling very shitty, hoping that is due to being nicely preggers not just knackered. Tomorrow will tell.

Boozle80 · 11/11/2014 18:50

I was thinking that - really hope she's out somewhere celebrating good news or her phone has run out of charge. Thanks for telling me to chill my boots - it's been how all the MMC start so makes me shit myself!

tannyLoo · 11/11/2014 18:51

Boozle I'm sure you must be worried, but really good that you are keeping things in perspective! So many people seem to have early pg spotting...

Longest hope things are OK chuck.

TinyTear · 11/11/2014 19:02

Just sent longest a text. Hope she is OK

Justonemoretime · 11/11/2014 19:06

I've just told a friend who has had two mcs that I'm pg again because we're seeing here and her DH on Saturday and she would have asked how we were. She knows my story and we have often talked about it. I know how horrible it is to hear this news and I feel awful for intruding into her home and her evening, but I felt it was better than waiting for the party on Saturday night. At least this way, I hope she can get her head around it before the weekend. I feel awful, tho. I hoped I was doing the right thing, now i'm not so sure. :(

Hope to hear from Longest soon.

longestlurkerever · 11/11/2014 19:17

Sorry everyone for worrying you! Have been totally rushed off my feet all day. Everything is fine. Was late to scan due to dreadful bus and they refto see me. I cried and pulled an rmc privilege and they relented. Baby is measuring 11w +3 and nuchal fluid is less than average. Have to wait for blood test results byt hopefully no more than a few days. The whittington are participating in a trial where you get harmony for free if your normal results come back as more than 1 in 1000. sorry for me me me. Will read thread now. Just wanted to update!

Belleende · 11/11/2014 19:18

Keep us posted tiny.
just I think the early warning was exactly the right thing to do. I think it was mentioned up thread, but I jump for joy when I hear women I know that have been struggling are pregnant. The week of my last mc I found out a friend who had been told she was infertile, had been through 4 rounds of ivf without even producing eggs, was pregnant naturally. Despite being utterly miserable I punched the air a bit for her. Your friend knows how tough this is and I'm sure will share in your joy, even through her own sadness.
