Good luck purple. And tanny though for different reasons. Good on you for giving it a go.

cornflakes30 · 19/09/2014 17:25

Hi everyone I hope you don't mind if I join this thread. Iam in need of support and advice.
I'm 44 next week and have TTC for 5 years and have had 10 miscarriages.. I have an under active thyroid, blood clotting when pregnant, v high NK cells and now high TNF alpha.
All my miscarriages have been within the first 10 weeks.
I am at the end of my tether and don't know what to do I'm not getting any younger I have tried treatment of Steriods, fragmin, hydrocloxocloroquine, aspirin, I had intreplids on one pregnancy as well and now I have just don't two Humera injections only to get the results back as they are gone up and not down. My endocrinologist is concern about humera and the thyroid causing Hughes disease in the future..
I just don't know what to do. My husband says I should stop and not take the next two humera injections but to name that means giving up..
Has anyone got any experiences similar.
Thankyou

bakingtins · 19/09/2014 17:37

Hi cornflake so sorry to hear what a lot you've been through. I don't think any of us here have experience of the immune modulating treatments other than the low dose pred prescribed in Coventry, but there is a thread on the conception board called "TTC or pregnant on pred" where there are lots of patients of Dr Shehata and Gorgy who have more knowledge about the treatments you mention.

cornflakes30 · 19/09/2014 17:48

Ok Thankyou I will have a look on there. Xx

bootles · 19/09/2014 19:41

purple hoping the pink cm is nothing and you are ok

just sorry about the bfn...it is SO frustrating TTC. It will happen though, and everything crossed the next one is the one.

bootles · 19/09/2014 19:44

Triple thanks. Coventry does seem to be very popular. You ended up being seen in London though? Facial hair and weight gain I can deal with - needs must..

bootles · 19/09/2014 19:48

Tiny remember to feel free to share your freakouts on here...so far so good...x

bootles · 19/09/2014 19:54

Bristolian sounds good that you have a GP appointment coming back, and please try not to rush back to work if at all possible.

Tanny bet your business will boom at a later date..

cornflakes so sorry for all your losses. What a gruelling time you have had. As baking says, the other thread is full of ladies with experience in the meds you mentioned. We can offer a listening ear and support here though

Justonemoretime · 19/09/2014 20:00

Hi, Thanks for your messages. I don't think its hormonal, as that's never been an issue before; my temp goes up, my cycle is regular, all of the other signs etc. The Coventry team found that everything was in order. I know things can change over time but if they had, it would be a new problem. I'll mention it when I email prof B next week (I email on Tuesdays as he is at his desk for the phone sessions and tends to answer back quite quickly!) 7 months is the tip of the iceberg, we started to try for #1 three years ago, but since we got the all clear from st Mary's its been 10 months. Hmmm.
Good luck for hearing about the job Tanny. Did you 'fess up, or is it obvious now :)
Good luck for your scan on Monday, Purple, FX for good news!
Waves to everyone. xx

WigglyBraddins · 19/09/2014 20:28

Hello ladies

So sorry for your losses. Please may I join you?

My stats:
Me 35, DH 37. 2 yr old DS. Started TTC Apr 14. MC1 Aug 14 at 5w; MC2 Sept 14 at 5w.

Phoned GP today (she's married to a gynecologist) and asked at what point this will stop being bad luck and become something that needs investigating. She said that time is now and I have an appointment with her in a week.

V silly question, but when you refer to Coventry, do you actually mean the place?

Delivery of DS was lengthy and ended in forceps and a trashed pelvic floor. Do any of you know if this can lead to an increased chance of mc?

I'm still in the zone of thinking this is just bad luck and that the next pregnancy will be alright and so will get back on the horse next week and TTC again.

TinyTear · 19/09/2014 20:33

Hi and welcome.

We mean the implantation clinic run by Prof. Quenby and Prof. Brosens in Coventry hospital. It's a self funded NHS clinic and costs £360 for the scan, uterine biopsy and phone consultation after.

WigglyBraddins · 19/09/2014 20:35

Thank you Tiny

girliesaints · 19/09/2014 22:00

Hi Wiggly- getting referred after 2 mc is very positive as generally the nhs doesn't investigate until 3. Hopefully if you've got support early doors will mean that you'll either get some answers early or some reassurance

Bristolian- hope your gp/ work are supportive. I did phased return last time and definitely helped. I'm already on annual leave next week, which would be my second week so for once I don't have to worry. Saying that I have told my boss I will pop in for a few hours on Monday to make sure everything is ok, although my boss doesn't want me to go in- I must be mad!

Although i felt better this morning my energy has been zapped by 4 year old birthday party from hell. Does make me question why I am putting myself through this again, but deep down I know why.

Hope everyone has fab weekends planned x

Dottydadoo · 20/09/2014 07:36

Hi Wiggly
Thanks for asking the Coventry question!

We are also about to TTC after 2 MC. I also had tests (NHS) done after my 2nd MC which i think was because of my age (38). I think after 35, you can push for tests after 2MC.

The tests came back with nothing which was disappointing as i wanted something for them to fix.

Re pelvic floor - I don't think this makes a difference but someone else will be able to advise.

Good luck x

Justonemoretime · 20/09/2014 08:14

I wouldn't have thought pelvic floor issues would relate to early mc (although I'd ask to me monitored later on in case the cervix was weakened). It would be worth asking for a scan anyway in a non-pregnant state to check for any problems, and at least then you'd know what you're dealing with. Good luck!

Tranquilitybaby · 20/09/2014 08:30

Hi can I join please. I suffered an ectopic in April at 6 weeks and last Tuesday a very early miscarriage the same day I got a bfp. Sad

We are lucky, we have two children already but in guessing now I'm 10 years older, things aren't going to be so easy.

I did start taking baby aspirin in July but since I've just mc again, I've decided to stop that and just stick to 5mg of folic acid instead.

Is it ok to start TTC straight away? X

Justonemoretime · 20/09/2014 08:53

Hi tranquillity, I think I remember you from the other thread when you had your ectopic? Sorry to hear you've had an early mc again. Physically, if everything has 'passed' (sorry), ttc straight away should be fine. However, your gp (if they are sympathetic) might be able to order a few blood tests to check clotting, thyroid etc., and they need to be done when you're not pg, so I might be worth seeing whether you can get those before you go for it again. They don't normally start the full investigations until you've had 3 mcs in a row. Good luck.

Also, maybe the bleed you've had doesn't necessarily mean mc? Could it be break through bleeding? Some women who experience very heavy bleeding haven't mc'd.

bakingtins · 20/09/2014 08:54

Welcome wiggly and tranquility

wiggly I agree with the others that any pelvic floor damage is unlikely to be relevant to early losses.

tranquility make sure your recent loss is on your GP record as a CP should 'count' towards 3mc that qualifies you for testing. It's worth asking if you qualify now, as you'll see from the thread some GPs will test after 2mc, particularly if you are older (not wanting to make assumptions about what age you had your children) If not, then after a CP I'd just TTC straight away, it's unlikely to mess with your cycle/lining too much. The experts are saying no to aspirin unless you have a diagnosed clotting problem, it can interfere with implantation.

purple hope there is no further pink - good luck for Monday.

Bristolian1 · 20/09/2014 09:16

Hi tranquility, sorry you find yourself here. I second what the others have said, speak to your GP about what can be done in. Your situation.

Welcome wiggly too and sorry for your losses. I'm also on mc2 so don't have many answers. The collective wealth of experience (and kindness) on this forum is amazing though.

Girlie thanks for your thoughts, I hope you're not too worn out today. My GP was really supportive, although she has signed me off for longer than I thought/would have liked her to (I was a hormonal weepy mess after 40mins waiting to see her in a room full of excited pg women swapping maternity wear advice). Work was predictably not supportive but hey ho.

girliesaints · 20/09/2014 10:12

Bristolian- I was the same after visiting the doctors as the baby clinic was on. GP did suggest making a telephone appointment in the future if I felt going to the surgery was too hard. Might be something to consider. I'm absolutely knackered today and really grumpy with three year old. For once OH took over once he came home from work and sent me for a bath. A reminder that it will take a bit longer to recover x

twilightstruggle · 20/09/2014 11:15

Yay Longest - fab news and glad the line is getting darker. Hope Oz is fabulous.

Welcome to Dotty, Ifitsnot, cornflakes Wiggle and Tranqility. Sorry for your losses and that you find yourself here, but hopefully you'll find us supportive and informative.

Purple - hope the pink has vanished; wishing you all the best for Monday.

Just - sorry for your BFN. Don't know enough to be helpful but extending support and [tea]. Have you shaken off the cold yet?

Tanny and Tiny - glad things are still going well, and good luck for Monday Tanny.

I'm having what I hope to be my last wasted ovulation; I'm hating this enforced break while I get investigated/treated and pretty much desperate to start TTC again can you tell its been 5 months since last mc Completely had enough with being childless and will NOT be putting up with it much longer.

longestlurkerever · 20/09/2014 17:57

Hello everyone. Welcome newbies. This thread has been a lifesaver for me. Bristolian sorry you're having a tough time. Girlie sending you a solidarity hug. My 3 year old is being a bit challenging too and preschool being a pain. Got really grumpy yesterday but hoping it's a good sign hormone-wise.

Better today. Went wedding dress shopping for a friend which was fun. Have cooked a mean curry ready for later. Dd occupied watching frozen.

Twilight I get you.

longestlurkerever · 20/09/2014 17:59

Sorry, posted too soon. I am not keen on the enforced breaks either. Doesn't stop me stressing really. Gah, spoke too soon. Have cut dd's chips into the wrong shape apparently. Hopefully nothing piles of ketchup cant sort.

Justonemoretime · 21/09/2014 11:00

Morning All,
So, I think AF has started today; I have had a bit of spotting. This is fine, but given when I thought OV was on CD17 (ish) giving me a 32 day cycle and this is CD28. So dead on time on one scale and 3 days early if adjusting for late OV. This is the second month in a row where Ov has been around day 17 (before that it was day 13/14 regular as clockwork, with a 27/28 day cycle). My last cycle was 32 days, so took in to account regular/normal OV. This time it looks like I've had a 10/11 day LP. Could it be getting shorter? Is that a sign of something scary? resists temptation to Google 'perimenopause'!!

My reflexologist did say cycle might go weird but could it be this weird and still be helpful in ttc?. Baffled. I'm going to email Prof Brosens and see what he says... Any ideas from you lovely ladies would be great :)

Bristolian1 · 21/09/2014 15:32

just sorry things seem so confusing. No words of wisdom here just hope you are ok. BrewCake
