Longest that would explain the mood! Whispering congratulations and understand entirely how you are feeling. FX it's going to stick around. x

longestlurkerever · 17/09/2014 13:38

Thanks, I think! It's a superdrug one, triple. Did a digital on Sun that came up as BFN. Not sure I know how to post a pic, or I it would show up, but will do another one tomorrow. In the meantime I guess I need to contact st Mary's, though I won't be around for th early scan, unless this gives me an excuse to stay at home!

cloudjumper · 17/09/2014 13:38

longest Woohoo! I second the frer recommendation, or even a digital test... Crossing everything for you xx

Bristol and girlie Hope you'll feel better soon - be kind to yourselves. These things take time...

aoife How are you doing?

Sorry to hear that so many are also struggling with bad mood, but I'm glad I'm not the only one! It is such a rollercoaster, even without any hormones thrown in extra.

I'm now on CD8, starting to get anxious about the next round of ttc and dreading having to dtd again soon - I just can't motivate myself. Still haven't spoken to DH who seems to have withdrawn into his own world even more. It is so frustrating.

I've never heard of a link between low GI and fertility. But as an avid believer in the benefits of low-GI-eating, it wouldn't surprise me... I do believe that a good diet helps with general well-being, so why not with hormone levels - it could be possible.
I switched to low-GI eating years ago, and it has made such a difference. And my progesterone levels are fine (but no idea if they would be different if I wasn't doing low GI).

MrsChocolateCupcake · 17/09/2014 13:40

Longest congrats, fingers are tightly crossed for you! Lots of hand holding in here :)

Bristolian1 · 17/09/2014 13:46

bootles · 17/09/2014 14:25

Gosh longest ! What CD are you on? But you are often v irregular is that right? Deep breaths, one hour at a time. Will post more later, just didn't want to read that and run!

longestlurkerever · 17/09/2014 14:40

Bootles I am on CD43. I am normally pretty regular but long, long cycles - so AF was due yesterday.

bakingtins · 17/09/2014 15:01

Woo hoo longest crossing everything for this one sticking! I can totally relate to your trepidation but we will do the being pleased thing on your behalf at the moment.

Dottydadoo · 17/09/2014 21:19

Hi everyone, can I join? My stats:
Me 38, DH 38. 2 x DCs. Started TTC no 3 Oct 2013. MC1 Dec13 at 9w (measured 6w); MC2 May14 at 8w (measured 6w).
Have had blood tests and came back with nothing.

We've been deliberating over trying again and think we're going to give it one more try but I'm so scared. I've made the mistake of reading all the stats - it is depressing reading.

Sorry to hear about all your losses.

bakingtins · 17/09/2014 21:36

Hi dotty and welcome to the thread. Don't get too depressed - I don't know the stats for trying after 2 consecutive MC but after 3 with no cause found it's about 70% success next time. Whay we'd all like is a crystal ball to see which side of the stats we fall on, but they are in short supply. ave you been offered any support or meds next time?

OP posts:
Dottydadoo · 17/09/2014 21:54

thanks Baking - I remember your advice when I posted going through the first miscarriage - I didn't have clue what was going on!

They've just offered me regular early scans when/ if I get pregnant. The consultant said I could take aspirin if it put my mind at rest - my tests came back borderline for clotting but nothing to instigate any additional interventions.

Reading this thread has been really interesting about the types of tests out there! I can empathise with people needing to know the reason for it happening, I was so disappointed when the tests didn't come back with anything. I keep reading stuff thinking it could be down to this and that. Think I'm going to have to step away from google for a bit.

girliesaints · 18/09/2014 07:04

Hi Dotty, welcome. There's a few of us newbies with two mc on here. Staying away from Google is a good step and something that the nurse at epu strongly advised, as she put it "we would never get out of bed if we knew the stats of being run over, let alone getting pregnant!" X

bootles · 18/09/2014 07:29

tiny, chocolate, Bristol, thanks..I guess OH is who he is. Maybe one day he will have more to say. I am feeling better today - letting it all go over my head.

Oh dear to the work men, toilet training (*longest it must be so frustrating if the nursery are being difficult!) delayed flights and other annoyances.

chocolate your last loss is very recent, I can entirely understand your yearning to be pregnant again ASAP, and DTD even when you know you're not 'supposed' to be trying. We can't control everything, we can't plan everything, sometimes a bit of spontaneity is a good thing.

bootles · 18/09/2014 07:45

Bristol and girlie the early stages post mc can be so hard...hormones and bleeding and feeling physically crap just exacerbate the mental pain. Bleeding for quite a while (couple of weeks usually for me) seems to be normal - or longer even. Try to look after yourselves and take some time to heal x

longest a 43 day cycle must be soooo frustrating. How are you doing today? How are things with OH, and when do you go to Oz? (Sorry if too many questions)

Welcome dotty sorry to hear of your losses. It seems consultants differ a little about giving aspirin 'just in case'. At St.Mary's they would only prescribe it if you definitely have a clotting issue - but I don't know if you are found to be borderline.

girlie I like what the EPAU nurse said about stats...so easy to get obsessed with numbers.

Right, by the end of this week I MUST book an appointment in Coventry. No more head in sand.

cloudjumper · 18/09/2014 11:01

Welcome dotty sorry to hear about your losses. It's so hard, trying to pick oneself up to start ttc again, isn't it! And so frustrating if they can't find anything that is causing the mcs... I agree, don't pay too much attention to the statistics, they can be read in so many different ways and are a generalisation at best.

I'm feeling really down today - a friend of mine emailed last night to announce that she is pg. I haven't had any new pg news for a while, so have been living in the clouds a bit I think, and this has hit me hard Sad. My EDD from my last mc is coming up in a few weeks, and there is very little chance that I will be pg by then (not that it makes it any easier anyway). I would be starting mat leave about now... I am starting to think it won't happen for me, and that thought makes me so so sad.

Bristolian1 · 18/09/2014 12:53

Sorry you're feeling down cloud. Sending hugs/chocolate cake/wine.

girliesaints · 18/09/2014 13:42

Sending big hugs to Cloud x

Cake really does help, or at least baking as I've made a banana cake and chocolate cake in the last two days and found it quite therapeutic. Shame I'll be the size of a house soon! X

cloudjumper · 18/09/2014 13:45

Thank you. And yes, baking is very therapeutic (but bad when you're trying to lose weight!). I've been doing the technical challenge from the GBBO programme each week, and the princess cake was epic Grin

I am going out for dinner with some girlfriends tonight, which should be nice, looking forward to a good chat.

Bristolian1 · 18/09/2014 14:57

Wow the technical challenges look really hard! I wouldn't know where to start!

TinyTear · 18/09/2014 15:08

I'd start by eating them Grin
When can we visit cloud?

Anyway my jelly baby measures 10+4
Still can't believe it!

longestlurkerever · 18/09/2014 15:50

Yeay Tiny!! So delighted. When is your 12 week scan? Tiny and Tanny thread babies here we come.

So sorry you're feeling low, cloud. I am very impressed with your cake baking. I like cooking but somehow make a hash of baking every single time. Please don't lose hope. Hugs.

Feeling a lot better today thanks Bootles, though line is no darker really. I suppose if it's exponential it may stay faint and then suddenly start getting darker, but is obviously nerve-wracking. My boobs do feel a bit weird though and I am feeling really thirsty - although that may just be withdrawal symptoms as I'm normally a caffeine addict. 42 days cycles are the pits when you are ttc and impatient, I can tell you, but at least they're regular, I suppose. No reason found for my last mcs though I suspect hormone problems causing a lack of implantation. Was about to get that checked out but given there's not much treatment available anyway I think my best bet is just to keep trying and keep my fingers crossed. Is very scary though.

ifitsnotanarse · 18/09/2014 16:15

Hi, may I join too?

3rd miscarriage last weekend at 10wks. A scan last week showed no heartbeat and measured a week behind. It took 30 BFNs to get a BFP this time, so am understandably gutted/annoyed/enraged/teary at moment.

DC1 2005
MC1 2008
MC2 2009
DC2 2010

Am 41 and have an underactive thyroid which has been mismanaged for the past year. GP finally upped my dosage after I had a BFP, but this was only to what it should have been. I saw the endocrinologist Tuesday of last week (too late), who stated that my last TSH level was fine, though above NICE guidelines of below 2. It would appear that age and thyroid are against me, and I am grateful to have my 2 DCs. However, I really, really wanted this baby.

Aoifebelle You should push ask your GP for a referral to see an endocrinologist. A good website for thyroid information is Health Unlocked [https://healthunlocked.com/thryoiduk].
