Welcome everyone - pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of information, moral support, tea or sympathy. Newbies very welcome.

Can we start the thread with a recap of where we are all up to again, please?

Charlie - same here. Can't blv though you need to wait for GP to get the result. I got mine in the post and wasn't even expecting it as it has only been 3.5 wks since erpc!

Prof Quenby has written a lot about super fertility and non-selective womb. I am certainly not super fertile and already worried about how long it will take me to get pg this time.

charlieis30 · 10/09/2014 22:17

thanks both for your comments... i was stressed this afternoon but now actually having made the decision not to find out on my own i am ok with it. I've been through too much on my own recently and i want dh there! (he was also away for work when i had my scan when i found out the baby had died). It isn't going to change anything, nor necessarily give me any answers. I feel good about my decision to ttc straight away this time.

tannyLoo · 10/09/2014 22:23

Triple what a hard thing to go through. I've never been able to get any of mine tested, but I don't know how I'd cope with knowing the cause. I saw a genetic counsellor yesterday who said that all trisomes were totally random occurrences and having one wouldn't make another any more likely.

Charlie sorry you're about to find out too, but I hope it helps.

I am super fertile, but also think I have implantation issues, and I'm old so lots of duffers. If I had managed to get them all tested, I expect there would have been a range of issues.

Keeping going till one sticks is exhausting, and I think having an idea of how many is enough helps to stop it taking over your life entirely. Mine was decided after my last MC in Feb. I knew I had to throw everything at the last one, cos it would definitely be it, and I have had to stay strong with that.

Scan tomorrow with my consultant. I think things are OK, but still getting the fear.

bootles · 10/09/2014 22:30

Its tricky..getting results. triple my 3rd mc was a male T 22, at the time I was gutted, but after thinking about it, I concluded what others have said. T22 is most likely a random event, it's the most frequent cause of mc's that are due to chromosomal abnormalities. Recently I got the results of my 4th..male and chromosomes normal. It feels much worse to me, as it implies the issue is with me, not the embryo.

I am feeling quite exhausted with it all at the moment, so am popping in a little less. Hope everyone is as ok as they can be though.

bootles · 10/09/2014 23:10

Tanny thinking of you tomorrow
Charlie hope whatever the result is, it provides answers of some sort

Justonemoretime · 11/09/2014 06:22

Hi Ladies, I've been trying really hard to step away from ttc obsessions, and you'd dropped off my feed. Sorry for those who are finding getting results difficult. It's a mixed bag of emotions either way. I only had my third tested, but it was a girl with Turner Syndrome (Monosomy X). Again, this is considered totally random. Hope for next time, if it ever comes. I hope that you find that your results help you to move on and make peace with things, and come up with a plan. ((hugs))

bakingtins · 11/09/2014 07:18

tanny good luck!

Good luck Tanny - am sure everything will be all right :)

Tiny - how are you coping? When is the next scan?

Cloud - hope you are doing ok. Do pop in to say hello! Are you actively TTC now?

Bootles - mine was also male t-22. It's good to know that your mc 4 was completely normal so what they say about it being random is hopefully true. Did you see a heartbeat with your t-22 mc? I am thinking that given it didn't even make it to 6wks maybe there are other factors also at play.

Everyone is getting pg around me, family, friends and work colleagues. It is all getting unbearable and adding to the : I want to get pg ASAP but know I need to wait a bit.

Triplespin · 11/09/2014 07:58

Sorry I meant just and not cloud!!

TinyTear · 11/09/2014 08:05

Hi triple I am well, I am getting afternoon/evening nausea (no morning things for me, morning I am ravenous) and still hanging on. Have booking appointment tomorrow and next scan will be next thursday - having a private one + Harmony test and should be 10+2

Tanny what time is your scan? Good luck!

Justonemoretime · 11/09/2014 08:20

good luck Tanny! xx

Bristolian1 · 11/09/2014 08:37

Hi ladies, please can I join you?

I'm 32, DH 33, no babies yet - TTC number 1 since Dec 2013. MMC 1 at 11 weeks in April 2014, MMC 2 happening now - going in for an ERPC tomorrow as one of the sonographers had concerns about a molar pg, I'd be 8 weeks.

TinyTear · 11/09/2014 09:15

Welcome Bristol
Sad to see you here, but hope you will get good advice on the thread.

Can you ask your GP to send you for some tests, some can be a bit more lenient on the 3 in a row rule... if you had a chemical at some time, that would count for the investigations numbers...

Bristolian1 · 11/09/2014 09:28

Thanks tiny it's so nice to see a familiar face here - wishing you all the best with your bean xx

I will ask the GP - that's a good idea. I also have a dermoid cyst, which I've read can sometimes cause probs with pregnancy - I'd like to have it removed before we try again, so will talk to the gynaecologist tomorrow about it (that's the EPAU nurse's advice). Anyone else got any experience with these?

Triplespin · 11/09/2014 09:45

Hi Bristol - sorry you find yourself here. Can you ask for your products to be tested as you are having an erpc? Guess they will do this as they are worried about a molar pg? It is very imp to have answers. You are still young so do not despair. Sorry I can't help with your question - hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along.

Tiny - yay MS is always good - at least you know you are pg. Good luck with the harmony test - will you find out the sex as well?

TinyTear · 11/09/2014 09:55

yep, i will want to find out sex yes...

charlieis30 · 11/09/2014 10:16

Hi Bristol - sorry for your losses xx
Just adding in answer to triple - even if they don't want to test the embryo under the NHS (as it's your 2nd) you can request to pay for it privately - DH and I did that. It came to GBP295 which for us was worth it - that way if we have another we will already have some info (it was my 2nd). The results are with my GP already (my ERPC was a month ago) They told me that they use some of the products to test for molar as a matter of course, but the rest can be used for chromosome tests (sorry that sounds very matter of fact but I don't know how else to put it). You have to ask the EPU nurse for an extra form, fill it out and give it to the surgeon, and keep reminding them at each point (e.g. before you go in for surgery). The genetics company sent me an invoice which I paid over the phone and hey presto. There was some confusion as my results were sent to the hospital rather than the GP but my GP called the genetics company to request them separately.

EffinIneffable · 11/09/2014 10:21

Hi Bristolian, sorry you find yourself here and for what you're currently going through. I can't help with the cyst question, but wanted to say hi as I'm in a very similar boat to you - #ttc no 1 since Feb 2013, 2 anembryonic mc's in the last 6 months (6 weeks and 10 weeks). I'm also in Bristol - or are you from Bristol and elsewhere now? Although officially NHS doesn't test or treat for RMC until 3-in-a-row, it doesn't hurt to ask what might be possible. Also, if it's something you're interested in, they may be able to test after your ERPC privately if not available on NHS (someone else on this board did this - charlieis30 I think). Take care of yourself for now.

Bristolian1 · 11/09/2014 10:34

Thanks for the advice charlie and effin I will talk to DH about testing. I am in Bristol - a frequent flyer of the Southmead EPU unfortunately!

charlieis30 · 11/09/2014 10:47

effin every time I look at your username I smile - thanks for that!

tannyLoo · 11/09/2014 10:53

Welcome Bristolian. I'm also from Brizz but now live in Somerset. Sorry you're going through this, and I hope your erpc is OK. I've only had natural MCs, so have no knowledge of recovery after.

My scan with my consultant was fine, everything seems to be going well and he's happy to see me again when I get to 34 weeks. He started talking about birthing options, and I broke down in tears, never thinking I'd be able to think of that...

EffinIneffable · 11/09/2014 11:03

charlie Grin a silly joke, it makes me smile too faculty.washington.edu/smcohen/453/NamingCats.html

bristolian I've heard good things about southmead. i've been treated at St Michael's - some very good things, some not so good...
Also hoping it doesn't turn out to be molar, I guess they need to be very cautious about that.

charlieis30 · 11/09/2014 11:28

Bristolian is this your first ERPC or did you have one before as well? I just want to say that it wasn't nearly as scary as I feared beforehand xx

charlieis30 · 11/09/2014 11:30

effin that is awesome, I love TS Eliot!

Bristolian1 · 11/09/2014 11:37

I'm a bit nervous about the general anaesthetic, as I've never had one before, but I am actually quite keen on the idea of the ERPC as I had medical management last time and I bled for weeks afterwards and took nearly a month to go hCG negative. I guess at least this way I know all the tissue is gone.

The sonographers who scanned me yesterday do not think it's molar, but one of the scans I had along the way raised concerns about it so better safe than sorry I suppose - it's not something to be trifled with, according to Dr Google!

Congrats on your scan tanny and thanks for the welcome everyone Smile
