Would anyone be interested in a Northern Ireland meet up?

We had a lovely goss and I got to nurse babies Grin

Feel all nostalgic and broody now lol

dingdong3 · 10/09/2010 15:03

Best bit of the meet up for me was botty having to come up to me in the middle of the cafe and say 'hi, I'm bottyburp' Definitely broke the ice! Grin

Lovely morning - great to meet you botty and WKMS too (again). We got asked if it was a twins meet-up as there were three sets of twins in the place altogether!

It's a good location for a meet-up tho a bit daunting at first as the place is full of mums with kids so as I was first there, I went up to 5 different women asking them if they were mumsnetters....and got 5 no's! Blush

Why not, I felt like asking??!!

Need to think of a date for the next one now!

TakeLovingChances · 10/09/2010 15:26

dingdong lol, I can just picture you asking random women that.

I did something similar at the last meeting in the museum (you weren't there that day).

Yes, think of another date. I really want to take DS there, but today my cold was just not good and I didn't want you all to get angry at me if you/your kids got ill!

DS is almost 7 months old. Is there things there that would interest a child that age, or do you think he's a bit young yet? Just wondering cuz I've never been before.

Tee2072 · 10/09/2010 15:54

See what happens when I'm not there with my plaid blanket?!?!!!!

Is the plan to go there again? Because I so want to go!

What about 1st Oct?

bottyburpthebarbarian · 10/09/2010 17:19

Oh I had such a lovely time - the babies r gorgeous

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 21:30

erm, Blush hello. i forgot. Blush sorry.

how embarrassing, i realised abou 2 hours ago that i was meant to be somewhere today. little sis said "so how'd the meet go?" ME: "what mee... oh shit!! the MNmeet"

really sorry ladies. glad you had a great time. who was teh third set of twins? i know dingdong's girls and WKMS' boys. is the playcentre a good place for a meet?

bottyburpthebarbarian · 10/09/2010 21:37

Oh BOO!!!!!

The MN twins were just the two sets, the other set were non-MN ones.

The playcentre was lovely, and it was easy to get to, easy to park at, and the lady running it seemed lovely.

WhenKevinMetSadie · 10/09/2010 21:46

Yes, it was lovely!

botty, great to meet you! T loved his cuddle with you!

dingdong, lovely to see you & your gorgeous girls again.

And thanks to both of you for keeping an eye on the DTs while I sorted out DD. I had 3 sleeping babies when I got home; managed to transfer DD into her bed & DT2 into his cot without waking them; 2 out of 3 ain't bad. So had some QT with DT1 before lunch!

Tee, yes, we missed your plaid blanket! I think you should've come, & brought DS (& the snot-baby too!)

TLC hope you feel better soon. Think your DS would have fun; my two liked the ballpool.

booy hope all is OK? Know you were planning to come today; hope you didn't get lost!

1st October good for me & my squad. Does Playtime suit again or do people want to try somewhere different?

WhenKevinMetSadie · 10/09/2010 21:47

Oh, X-post booy, you eejit Grin

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 21:49

i am actually kicking myself. i had meant all week to arrange for friend to collect ds1 so i could hang about with you all for a bit longer the it went completely ot of my head. AND i have even been on MN, you would think hat would be enough of a reminder!! doh!. so jealous, aren't the twins just gorgeous? all of them. Grrrr. cannot believe i did that. i actually went and checked teh calender when sis reminded me as i could believe i had forgotten.

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 21:51

WKMS, it would be less embarrassing if i had got lost!!

bottyburpthebarbarian · 10/09/2010 21:51

Playtime was gr8 I thought

And WKMS - I loved my wee nurse of T too - you lot made me feel broody as all get out

booyhoo · 10/09/2010 21:53

i don't know what's wrong with me this week, i truned up at ds1 new school on tues for a curriculum meeting only to be told it is next tuesday!! seriously, another braincell would be lonely.

bottyburpthebarbarian · 10/09/2010 22:00

Boo - I once kept the DD's off school for a day because I had written it in the wrong week in the diary.

Very red face the next day I can tell you!!

MamaMary · 12/09/2010 20:07

Glad you all got on so well. Hope to make the next one :)

me too, me too! hope to make it to the next one :)

Tee2072 · 14/09/2010 21:03

Just marking my place so I don't lose you all cuz this is one hectic week!!!!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/09/2010 10:56

Dara's only 16 days old and im somewhat sleep deprived but i can already tell that im going to need to find a couple of mums and babies groups to start going along to in a few weeks time so i don't go completely stir crazy!!

just wondering if any of you had been to any of these belfast groups in the past and if you have, what they're like? (anything taking place in a church hall is usually a bit of a no no for me lol)

  • McCracken Memorial Church Hall, wed mornings
  • Playgrounds at city church, university ave, thursday mornings
  • NCT group, cooke centenary church, ormeau rd, fri mornings

any advice on where to meet some nice, non-alpha mums v much appreciated :) hope everyone's well!

Tee2072 · 15/09/2010 10:59

LMSS I think the one at McCracken is run by our very own dingdong!

I haven't been to any of them, sorry.

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/09/2010 11:05

oh cool!! maybe that'd be a good one to check out then :) i'm going to strike some sort of deal with DH and get the car one day a week so mccracken is prob only a 10 minute drive for me...

i thought 3 years of PhD would have been good preparation for being in the house all day but i think i'm so used to working at home that i'll literally be finding housework for myself to do in a few weeks time to fill my time if i don't get out and do some other stuff. no thanks!!!

dingdong3 · 15/09/2010 12:55

Hi LMSS! I'm just back in from McCracken! Our first day back today. It's a lovely group (tho I am biased!) and there were a few new mums there today with tiny ones so you won't be alone.

One of the ladies in the church makes scones for us and the coffee is good too. I have made some great friends there and it was nice today to see so many new faces.

You can get the 8 bus to just outside the door or if you're driving, come good and early as the carpark gets busy. We start at 10. Would be lovely to meet little Dara....that would make me the first MNer to meet him

Have never gone to the other groups you asked about but the Thursday one does sound nice. I go to Lowe Memorial Church on a Tuesday morning. I have heard great things about Windsor Baptist on a Thursday and have gone to Windsor Presby on a Friday once ages ago and it was a nice group too but I save Fridays MN meet ups!

LittleMissSnowShine · 15/09/2010 18:14

brilliant - i am def going along to that! prob not next week but def week after woo hoo - can't wait to meet some other people with babies who are also interested in such exciting topics as nappy rash, cluster feeds and getting some sleep lol

And yes, dingdong, then you will be the first one to meet King Dara!!
