Hello!

Ok so the plan is a child free yummy dinner. Small babies who can't be left are of course allowed.

Dates? Am assuming Fri/Sat nights are going to be best so

4th, 5th, 11th, 12th 18th or 19th December. Start telling us what you can't do and we can narrow it down!

Venues? I'd suggest the Gourmet Spot (because I love it) but dh might kill me as we are planning a visit to celebrate a sleeping dd (whenever that happens ) Where is good? Doesn't have to be an overtly Christmassy meal does it? Just something nice, fun as a crowd and a break from "family friendly" aka pizza and pasta.

And of course a sign up list!

Indith

Please point eveyone you see over here, lets try to gather the troups!

BouncingTurtle · 22/11/2009 20:00

Chocolate hobnobs!!

I haven't as yet decided what to where... I might have to go all out and where one of my 2 posh frocks because I'll never get a chance to wear them other wise lol

Perhaps we should wear some silly Christmas tat - earrings/headbands that sort of thing?

Indith · 23/11/2009 11:30

Dark or milk?

Dark hobnobs rule.

OP posts:
stickylittlefingers · 23/11/2009 14:19

I didn't even know you could get dark hob nobs... Get thee behind me...

Indith - I have been earnestly discussing car parking possibilities in Newcastle with you, but possibly without your knowledge, on the thread on local for the person who was looking to move up here? Anyway, my grand plan was the Sage car park - it's obviously particularly good if you're on the Quayside like me, but it is quick up into town if you go straight up by Pandon st, over the central motorway flyover and to the Laing Art Gallery that way. It is also cheap! Also saves the last crawl into Newcastle over the bridge.

Anyway - what I'm wearing? Something beer and curry friendly!!

Indith · 23/11/2009 17:04

Ok I am making a decision, we shall carry biscuits Mainly because nobody else will! I think BT that given the amount of work Christmas events there will be the chances of other people wearing Christmas stuff is pretty high!

slf thanks for discussing car parks with me That thread had fallen off my list. I looked up the charges though and it is £1.50 an hour which does not work out cheap for a whole day! Dh tends to be in the office from around 8 til 5.

stickylittlefingers · 23/11/2009 21:32

that's the general public rate - there is a prepay card where it does work out about 97p a day. It may be that the card is only offered to employees of certain firms, because it does seem to be completely invisible on the web! I shall enquire if it's still a live issue for you?

BouncingTurtle · 24/11/2009 07:35

Milk ones for me - don't like dark chocolate.

Indith · 24/11/2009 10:19

Yes please slf that would be fantastic, the best we have found so far is 50p an hour or buying a space on a monthly basis in a secure car park.

BT you fool!

Maryland Cookies!

Parking in Newcastle - what about parking at Heworth and getting the metro in?

juneybean · 26/11/2009 09:19

capitalindian.co.uk

Indith do you know if there's a special xmas menu or are we just to look at normal menu?

juneybean · 26/11/2009 09:31

What's the congestion charge about? Is that just a day time thing?

Indith · 26/11/2009 10:51

I hadn't even thought about special menu!

Don't worry about the congestion charge, it is daytime only I think and in any case is only for going to the market place and Palace Green area and I doubt you'll be going that way.

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 26/11/2009 14:11

If you park in Prince Bishops you won't pay the congestion charge, and it is only a short walk from there to the market tavern.

juneybean · 26/11/2009 17:43

Oh yes I will park there lol. I'm a good driver (somewhat) but I do panic when it comes to finding parking and suchlike, I look at maps like I'm planning a military attack [freak emoticon]

BouncingTurtle · 27/11/2009 17:43

That menu looks fab!

Teamonster are you still coming?

Can you CAT me? Then I can give you my address.

juneybean · 30/11/2009 11:38

Spiggy, although Lissy isn't coming, would you still like to meet in concord or the galleries whichever is easier for you.

spiggy · 01/12/2009 13:55

juney that would be fab if it is still ok with you? I'll do some checking and see which place is easier to get a bus to. you can email me at a.mcquillin at sky dot com (my email not working so that is DP's!)

juneybean · 02/12/2009 23:00

Did we decide how to flag each other down?

Indith · 03/12/2009 12:48

Any changes to the line up I might not know about?

Juney

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 03/12/2009 16:59

I have a packet of Fox's creams I will be brandishing them.

Anyone seen Teamonster around? I haven't heard from her, wanted to know if she still wanted a lift!

Indith · 03/12/2009 17:04

I have dark chocolate digestives because there were no dark chocolate hobnobs in the shop

Not seen teamonster. We are now down to 7 because my friend can't make it due to general dh numptiness and foxy isn't coming.

OP posts:
BouncingTurtle · 03/12/2009 17:16

Grrr for your friend.

for Foxy, was looking forward to catching up with her - and asking what she was doing in the ABM magazine again :D

BettySwollux · 03/12/2009 20:59

DH is dropping me off, where is the Market Tavern, please?
Can he drop me outside or is it all pedestrian? .

No idea what biscuits I will be bringing, as DH may have eaten the weeks supply by then , is it ok if I bring a pocketful of crumbs and throw it like confetti when I see a MNish type woman?

BouncingTurtle · 04/12/2009 08:42

The Market Tavern is in the marketplace, where the congestion barrier, and by St Nic's church.
Follow the signs for Prince Bishops Car Park, but instead of turning into Prince Bishops, go across the mini roundabout next to the entrance to the multi story and head up the hill.
I think the barrier remains open after 7pm, so you should be able to turn left through the barrier without paying the charge. There is a little parking area where your DH can drop you off on the right.
I don't know if I will be there for dead on 7.30, probably a little later.
