I'm not being treated as high risk during this pregnancy (so far)--age was just one factor to be taken into account. They were more interested in my asthma, my previous C-section and my m/c. Am 20wks on Weds.

goldenoldie · 12/03/2006 14:13

Agree - age on its own not considered a high risk factor.

After having the DTs 4 months ago I asked midwife, jokingly, if I was the oldest woman on the maternity ward at that time.

I expected her to laugh and walk off. Instead, she fixed me in her gaze and said she thought there was ONE other, slighly older than me, and walked off.......................

At which point I felt 52 rather than 42.

Hi, I've just hit 40 and really don't feel it at all! In my mind, I'm still 18! (Think my hubbie would like me to be - lol!). In body though, I'm 60! Have one DS who is 21 months old, a non-sleeper and "very lively". Met my hubbie five years ago and after several attempts - we finally had our son - no more planned!!!!! Grin

Glad I'm an older mum though. Smile

Would love to join this thread if it's still going. I'm 40 and expecting our first child in July. I think I'm in for some surprises!

how lovely to know there are other mums of my age group

whiffy · 08/05/2006 14:35

40 and pregnant, with very lively DS aged 2. Having another at this age may suit me career-wise but sure as hell doesn't suit my body. Falling apart at the seams.... heaven knows how that 63 yr old is coping... can't bear to think about fact I'll probably be celebrating my retirement whilst my kids are still in full-time education.

suejonez · 08/05/2006 15:00

vintage 1965

becoming first time mum later this year

still have my troll (its one of the only childhood things whch survived a move across the world when I was 7)

still devastated that David Cassidy didn't marry me.

suejonez · 08/05/2006 15:02

oh yes and just employed an accountant who is young enough to be my son and doesn't know who Doris Day is Shock

2shoes · 08/05/2006 15:32

omg i remeber trolls:o and forget david cassidy donny was the best

suejonez · 08/05/2006 15:47

Nah you can keep Donny - TBH I would always have prefered David Essex but I always knew he was a bit out of my league... been attracted to bad boys ever since.

2shoes · 08/05/2006 17:21

oh yeas david essex loved him as well "rock on"

KiwiKat · 08/05/2006 17:44

Sorry, David Cassidy wins hands down - he was just so PRETTY! I have a lovingly preserved copy of Cherish in vinyl ... Although I must admit to a lingering fancy to David Essex in Stardust as well. Happy birthday for tomorrow, Ms 2shoes!

2shoes · 08/05/2006 19:03

KiwiKat thanks I will be hiding in a cupbard pretending to be 35:o
were you a baycity roller fan

KiwiKat · 09/05/2006 14:04

Not so much a Bay City Roller girl - my mother didn't approve of pop music so we had to be a bit sneaky about listening to it. (Well, you can see what she means, can't you?! I mean, what could exposure to all that tartan do to a wee girl?) I thought Abba was wonderful, and for some reason she agreed that they were fairly harmless, so let me sing along into my hairbrush to my heart's desire.

But my BIG love when I was 15 was ... wait for it ... Midge Ure. I was smitten. Oh, Vienna!

2shoes · 09/05/2006 14:23

aww vienna they just don't make music like that anymore:o
just been given dirty dancing cd for my birthday have it on vinal but getting ready for new car with cd player.. so i am now going back to the 80's

KiwiKat · 09/05/2006 14:29

Think some of us never left! Got something fun planned for tonight? Big cake? Will Midge Ure be jumping out of it???
