It's just me & my DD right now but I'm hopeful that other Plymouth mums will find us. I'm 32 yrs old, my girl is six months & we're ready to be sociable. Who else is? Looking forward to finding out

I shall forgive you, one all eh?

How about next week? Maybe Devendra and other can come too.

What day would be good?

Again, tuesday afternoons or friday any time is best for me, or weekends, but I suspect weekends will be chaos.

19fran76 · 07/08/2009 10:25

I can do any weekday except Thursday, so let's find out if Devendras' free & take it from there.

Hiya.. this week not good for me.. working Mon and Tues, off camping on Weds for the night then off to wales for my brothers wedding on Fri.. not back till following Weds.. but then am off till Sept 4th so free to meet up any day/time!

FourArms · 09/08/2009 19:36

Oooh, I'll come to a meet-up if there is one in Plymouth. We're in Plymstock - DS1 is 5 and DS2 is 3. Will watch this thread... we're free most days until back to school.

I met one of my closest friends at a Devon and Cornwall meet-up [wistful sigh emoticon]. Our DS's have now been best friends for over 4 years!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 09/08/2009 21:39

devendra you are such a social butterfly! Swanning off here and there! Where are you going camping?

FourArms ! I have a 3yo DD, and another on the way. I am central. We (as I had suggested!) the Fun Fort at Stamford for the kids to run around in while we drink coffee, although Fran has an adorable girl who is a bit young for running atm! But, I am sure she is, as I am, open to suggestions if this is not good. Will your 5 year old be bored there?

So, either tuesday PM or Friday any time? at the Fun Fort or somewhere else?

Oh we might make 3 people again

Devendra · 09/08/2009 21:53

Hi Pav.. off to Widdecombe on the moor to a lovely little field with a river.. I bought a big van earlier this year and its such a pleasure going camping now I have the facility to bung it all in!
I am indeed having a very social summer and enjoying it very much though I think I peaked too early on the festival front and may have to cram one more in
Will be good to meet up with you two and of course any others again so will keep a watchful eye on this thread.

FourArms · 09/08/2009 22:27

Either Tuesday or Friday should be fine by me. We're meeting friends in Padstow tomorrow but that may change to Tuesday depending on the weather. The fun fort is fine for both of my two (it's about a mile from us so we go there fairly often). The aquarium soft play is also nice if you have a membership there?

The fun fort is unpredictable in it's busyness usually - a kids party of 12, and it feels packed. However, my two are quite hardy, and good at getting in there anyway. I'd imagine it's too much for an under-one though. You could ring ahead to ask if they've any parties booked.

The aquarium doesn't tend to get too busy at 10am on a sunny day, but is horribly busy on a rainy day. You can book tickets online which saves q-ing, but it is £9.35 (although under-5's are free). We have a family membership - bargain IMO at £40 for a year - we go most weekends in the winter - soft play for an hour, craft room for an hour and a rainy morning is sorted (and sometimes we even look at the fish!!)!

V.jealous of camping trip - we haven't managed any time away yet this year as DH's work has been manic.

19fran76 · 10/08/2009 09:55

Hi Pav & FourArms. Glad you've been lured in by our talk of soft play .

Devendra, enjoy your continuing adventures & see you when you get back .

Shall we aim for Friday again?

OP posts:
FourArms · 10/08/2009 10:13

Friday is good for me. Padstow has been cancelled for today due to the horrible weather!

What time are we going for?

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/08/2009 18:03

Friday at 10am? last few times I went to the fun fort it was quiet until about midday when everyone came in for lunch! I will give them a quick call make sure no parties as suggested by FourArms. DD is a very robust 3 year old, she gives as good as she gets from the older ones.

I like the sound of the Aquarium, I keep meaning to join as DD loves it there, but I keep forgetting all about it. They have a craft room? Excellent! I will do it soon, be nice to show the baby some bright colours too, and nice for DD to run around while me and new baby saunter along at our leisure!

FourArms · 10/08/2009 18:34

Right, diaried in for Friday! Fab - now have something for every day of the week. I will be the one with two manic boys! I have blondish hair, which will be up in a ponytail and I wear glasses!

The craft room is next to the shark tank. They are open 11-3 weekends and holidays. They usually have sticking, painting, colouring and something else (jigsaws, tracing, objects to copy). I love it as it absolves me of any requirement to invent an arty activity for the rest of the day!!!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 10/08/2009 18:45

I will be the one with the manic 3 year old blonde longish haired girl who will no doubt be filthy already (cannot seem to keep her clean!). I have short dark hair with highlights (but its not so short now, needs a cut!!!) and wear light/clear rimmed glasses, sporting a neat little pregnant bump! Will probably be wearing a black maternity dress as this is mostly all I have that fits me atm .

Although if I am there before you all (doubt that very much LOL) I will be childless as she will be shreeking and running in the ball pool!

19fran76 · 11/08/2009 09:24

Aw, a bump at last!

I have short (I've had it cut Pav, by a proper hairdresser n' everything) dark brown hair & will have DD in a backpack. I will be talking to Pav as she will have given me a lift (cheeky )

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/08/2009 18:22

You are welcome to a lift fran, we need to arrange where. I am happy to come get you from home, you will need to CAT me your addy though. Hope you have not had too much chopped off, I loved your hair!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 11/08/2009 18:22

Oh and I put on 5lbs in the last 4 weeks on account of my sickness reducing to once or twice every few days! Cool eh?

19fran76 · 11/08/2009 21:07

Very cool, your catness .

I will try this CAT business now & send you my mobile too. I lost yours. I am scatty.

OP posts:
PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 13/08/2009 22:11

i am having to cancel tomorrow I am v v v sorry.

As you will see, from the last post by me at least. I am having a nightmare of a time with my loft conversion and I have had to camp at my friends who live on the Moors, with hardly any stuff. I will not be able to get back to Plymouth in time, or looking half decent, or after sleeping well, or with DD looking like a girl not an urchin, or not stressed.

fran i will text/email as well so you definitely get the message. I hope you will be able to get there to meet fourarms anyway. I promise I will get my shit together to do it properly.

FourArms · 14/08/2009 09:28

Don't worry Pavlov. Hope you get your house sorted out soon!

Fran - if you still want to go down, then pop a post on here, we're only 5 minutes away from FS anyway. Otherwise, I can do next Friday.

19fran76 · 14/08/2009 12:05

FourArms, my internet was misbehaving so I missed your kind offer. Next Friday it is.

Pav, I've just read your thread & e-mail. How horrendously stressful for you . Oooh, that 'hormonal' remark would've left me despising the man for life I hope the situation is resolved sooner not later & to your satisfaction. As others have commented, you & your DH seem to add up to a switched on team. Hang in there, take solace in friends & country living if you can.

OP posts:
FourArms · 14/08/2009 17:20

No worries fran. I went anyway (managed to persuade my sister to come with me!)

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 14/08/2009 20:31

well my home is still standing. And my builder was happy and I was happy. And then we got the structural engineer/architect out just to reassure me properly, and now our builder thinks I don't trust him, or think his workmanship is good enough as I needed a second opinion so he is pissed off, does not get that spending a lot of money makes me weary, especially when mistakes have happened and this is what we paid our architect for!

So I think it is 2 steps forward 1.5 steps back. Thats not bad I think.

19fran76 · 14/08/2009 23:09

Things are looking up

OP posts:
FourArms · 15/08/2009 08:27

It's babysteps like the flylady programme!

PavlovtheForgetfulCat · 15/08/2009 08:30

FourArms. baby steps indeed! I have realised that builders have a reputation for being moody, for a reason. Because its true!!! I have said to DH his job is not to be professional in his manner, but in his work. So as long as he gets this done, I should not expect him to stop sulking when he does not get his own way
