Hello all - I have been a busy bee - done all my christmas cards today - just need to find someone to post them! Had my veins on my other leg done yesterday, so laid up in bed - kids all out - so is great! DH is supposed to be looking after me, but has gone to get his hair cut and will be going to the school play later - not sure when he will be making my lunch for me - perhaps he thinks I dont need to eat! Have snook down and pinched a packet of crisps to keep me going - was nil by mouth yesterday, so didnt eat from 9pm sun night until 5pm Monday - fat too long!!!

Hope you are all well and the babies are thriving!

stoppinattwo · 11/12/2008 06:46

BL thanks the house is going great, just need to give DP a slap or two to get him painting!!!!!....he is still contemplating

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 11/12/2008 19:06

SA2 - I'm still trying to encourage DH to get a move on our hall, stairs and landing which has needed doing since our extension in summer 2006!! Hoe you get some painting done soon.

Andy - make full use of being laid up. Take it easy.

How's everyone else getting on with the CHristmas planning?

I need recommendations for Santa's Grottos, PLEASE!

Found out today that they're not doing the lovely storytime Sants at Rivendell this year. Has anyone has some nice experiences yet, this year? Or any really bad experiences so we know where to avoid.

Really hate that queuing in line for 2 hours to dump DDs on some strange man's knee. Very sad that Rivendell have stopped their lovely grotto! Plus only got this weekend because at stupid wedding next weekend.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/12/2008 19:36

Jaamy we have just got back from town. Went to lewis' after picking adam up did the grotto [£5 per child] and then we went to see the reindeer, experience the 'snow' and went to the christmas market for hot dogs and pancakes. Was really nice and the trio loved it. Think it is especially nice being in town at night so they can see all the lights etc.

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 11/12/2008 20:12

Nemo - just before my last post I had muttered an expletive to DH about going into town. Every year I say that we will go in to see the reindeer and every year I forget until about 5pm on said Thursday! [jaamy puts on dunces hat and goes to sit in the corner].

Was Lewis' grotto any good?

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 11/12/2008 20:30

it wasnt too bad had like a run down of all things that happened in 2008 so couple of lamabanas involved etc. Otherwise it was similair to every year but the kids enjoy it.Price for pics not too bad either, 3 little ones for a tenner so good for grandparents either side and one for yourself.

andyrobo237 · 12/12/2008 10:05

We like the 'Winter Wonderland' at the garden centre by us - it always wins awards. It is at Sefton Meadows in Maghull - directions here

It is next to the tip in Maghull, and Santa came by Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car a few weeks ago!! You walk through a series of wintery / christmasy scenes (indoors), before you get to the Main Man. Photo is an option, and you get a pressie - we havent been this year, but it is well known for being great. It does get busy, but never had to wait more than half an hour!

SA2 - will be around until New yesrs Eve - we are going to Derbyshire for three days, you are welcome to bring your gang up here for a catch-up!!

I am hoping to go into town next week ON MY OWN!!! for a few hours of retail therapy!! I have not had a proper look in John Lewis or Debenhams! I reckon Thursday would be a good day - drop the kids off, go to the gym for half an hour, and then head into town! I may even treat myself to lunch as well!!! Well it is all part of my recovery programme!!!!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 12/12/2008 19:35

AR enjoy your shopping trip and lunch alone sounds luxurious...

Things are chaotic here with conservatory finished today lots of cleaning and stuff to get it in tip top condition.

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 15/12/2008 19:26

Has everyone voted for Nemo in the name change comp????
DH currently threatening to register just so that he can vote...am running out of ways to put him off !

Browny - hope all well with you?! Can you please let me know which number you live at. Never take note when am visiting.

MD - what number do you live at, too...in fact can I please have the number house of everyone. I know where you are and can even remember the road names, just not the number. Is usually, "the one with the brown door", or "I'll know it when I see their car parked outside" (Nemo!), etc. Ta very much! I have all these stamps form the royal mail survey that I can't use up in itme before another batch arrives!!!!

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 15/12/2008 19:29

Oooh, BTW, have tracked down the lovely Santa. He's at St George's Hall. If you get chance, PLEASE go. He's fab and brings a very sweet Mother Christmas with him. Costs £10 per child but lasts half an hour (story, songs, little individual chat and even pokes fun at the grown ups), decent pressie and is really worth it.

Thanks AR for advice about SM grotto. I often pass there on way to Formby and wonder whether is any good.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 15/12/2008 21:06

thanks for the vote jaamy..

DingDongMerrilyOnEI · 15/12/2008 21:57

hi ladies
glad to see you are all doing well
i took DD to sefton meadows last weekend and TBH i was a bit disappointed the queue was enormous, santa was less than convincing and DDs gift was not very age appropriate (lip gloss for a 3 year old?) last year was amazing as they had a better system like splitting the grotto visits into groups on half hour increments etc it was basically pile as many in at a time and we queued up for over half an hour before we got to the front and then we were ushered straight through and with a gift shoved in our hands out of the door at the other end definitely not worth £5 imo
sounds heavenly to go shopping alone AR i am off into town tomorrow but with DD in tow at least i will be able to hang the bags on the handles as i wont risk the messing about of her in town
nemo hows the conservatory going?
jaamy hope things are good with you
are the new mummies looking forward to christmas? are the big sisters and brothers settling in well with the babies
nothing happening here
xx ei xx

DingDongMerrilyOnEI · 15/12/2008 21:57

oh and i voted for nemo aswell
xx ei xx

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 15/12/2008 23:15

Hello Ei! Enjoy the shopping. Have found it quite quiet out and about so may not be too bad with DD in tow. Wasn;t SM recently taken over, perhaps gone down hill sinec then. The Santa that is currently appearing at St Georges is definitely THE best! Tip for next year, if he comes back!

Nemo - didn't mean that I was putting off DH from voting, just from registering...might stumble across all sorts of horrors and ban me from MN!

andyrobo237 · 16/12/2008 12:33

Done my vote for Nemo - lets hope she wins, but then she always wins something!!!!

Been and bought that quality tat to put in DD stocking so busy wrapping at the moment.

That was after I had been to the gym!!! Got a referral through the GP so get reduced cost at the local gym Total Fitness, and can take the kids at a cost of £10 each per year to use the pool - so will be fab! I havent been for about 3 years (used to be a regular gym bunny) and I can see it will take a few weeks for me to get back into it! At least I can go in the day while I am off sick - part of my rehabilitation process!!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 16/12/2008 19:51

thanks all for the votes although still a few down on the current leaders..lol

Biglipsdrankallthexmasbaileys · 16/12/2008 21:54

i voted for you nemo too from the other day!

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2008 09:54

Flippin' 'eck I won't even be here to find out the results! Will have to break into my cousins computer tomorrow, make up some excuse about catching up with work...

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 17/12/2008 09:55

That's it i'm moving down sarrfff!

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2008 11:17

Ledodgy - did you get a new keyboard?

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 17/12/2008 11:18

No look on the 'What about this dress for Christmas thread' I made a dodgy 'c' faux pa on that.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 17/12/2008 11:19

here

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 17/12/2008 12:16

jaamy..ermm shouldnt you be packing

DingDongMerrilyOnEI · 17/12/2008 19:56

ledodgy that was indeed a faux pas especially as you followed with a very funny!!
jaamy have a nice time down south
its now been decided that the father christmas fun has finished for DD this year as she has shown herself to be absolutely terrified of the man himself i suppose a big fat stranger in a red suit and false beard is a scary thought but i thought she like him really we were on the childrens floor in debenhams yesterday and she saw FC sat by the lifts in his chair and started acting really oddly (she did not FC) she grabbed my hand and tried to drag me down the escalator she then put my hand over her face and started shaking her little head and was trembling all over we eventually got into the lift and she started crying poor little love so i have put a stop to all father christmas visits until next year when she can decide if she wants to see him herself
i hope everyone is having a nice wednesday night
xx ei xx

isawjaamykissingsantaclaus · 17/12/2008 22:59

All packed...car won't start in the morning now, just you see!

Ei - I wish it was down south. We're going to Ireland, way oop north! Twill be nice when we get there, I know but just too close to Christmas!
DD2 not enamoured with FC, either. SHe was nearly crying before we went into the grotto but loved it in the end. Thin kit's excitement more than anything. Hope DD's aversion doesn't last.

MD - just to let you knnw, I now have two of the little buggers clap and glo bears! Had to send out a search in Northern Ireland in the end!

Will check back in with you all when I get back on Monday. Nemo - text me to let me know if you won!
