SW London - book swap and meet up?

Don't know if anyone would be interested in this.

I have a load of books that I need to get rid of (mainly low brow fiction!). Normally I take them to the charity shop.

It occured to me that there might be lots of other MNetters who do the same. Why don't we meet up and do a big swap? Any books left over could go to the charity shop as usual.

Would anyone be interested?

Yes. I've noticed that if AtheneNoctua isn't on one of these posts that it takes a lot longer to get people whipped into shape organised.

sept 12th in wimbeldon or ken? i'll come if you guys don't mind. i have tons of books. but i'll be 39weeks pregnant if thats ok?

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/08/2008 20:21

Absolutely fine! As long as you're OK with at that stage - I'd had both of my DC by then!

Wimbledon, or somewhere close by I think.

OP posts:
eandz · 23/08/2008 20:24

i'll keep an eye out.

do you want me to bring/make name tags?

madcol · 23/08/2008 20:24

Any thoughts on what kind of location?

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/08/2008 20:26

Where are you based madcol?

Nametags not necessary, I think, as enough of us have met before - and you will easily work out who all the MNetters are!!

oh, i doubt this kid will ever show up. i'm destined to stay pregnant forever.

who will take the left over books to the charity shop? or will we all be responsible for taking our leftovers to the charity shop?

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/08/2008 20:34

I think the best thing to do is to be responsible for our own. But if you go into labour on the evening, I'll take yours!

I am in wimbledon but never met anyone before.

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/08/2008 20:41

I've only met Jura and CtheA (who are both lovely, but don't tell them I said that) - so don't worry about it!

Whereabouts in Wimbledon are you, roughly?

OP posts:
madcol · 23/08/2008 20:41

Battles area.

BecauseImWorthIt · 23/08/2008 20:45

So anywhere you would like to go? I was thinking somewhere either close to the mainline station (although restaurant choices are pretty limited there) or somewhere close to South Wimbledon - again, pretty limited!

Have you been to THe Hideaway? It's by the tram stop at Merton Park. An independent restaurant, which is unusual in Wimbledon, and a nice environment. It's very close to my house, so we could always do the book swap bit here (and I'll provide drinks) and then go on to dinner?

madcol · 23/08/2008 20:59

I've been there before. Easy for me to walk.

eandz · 23/08/2008 21:00

as long as cabs are easily caught? i only go anywhere by taxi these days cuz i'm really big and slow.

i'll bring a bin liner and a towel just in case.

Yes - on the Kingston Road, left hand side as you're walking towards South Wimbledon tube. It's probably about 250m from the tram station, and two stops on the tram from Wimbledon.

You an walk from Wimbledon mainline or South Wim Northern line station also.

eandz · 24/08/2008 12:27

should i make a list of books i'm bringing so no one brings the same book twice? or is that just wasting space?
