SW London - book swap and meet up?

Don't know if anyone would be interested in this.

I have a load of books that I need to get rid of (mainly low brow fiction!). Normally I take them to the charity shop.

It occured to me that there might be lots of other MNetters who do the same. Why don't we meet up and do a big swap? Any books left over could go to the charity shop as usual.

Would anyone be interested?

Is this a book swap or a booz up?

BecauseImWorthIt · 03/07/2008 12:53

Are they mutually exclusive?!

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 03/07/2008 12:55

I'm allergic to books.

wheelybug · 04/07/2008 08:38

I'm a south west Londoner (about 5 mins from Kingston Gate) with a book habit so would have loved to have joined you but..... am in Yorkshire for a wedding that weekend. Another time ?

TheBlonde · 04/07/2008 08:50

I am SW but don't have any books to swap

BecauseImWorthIt · 04/07/2008 08:56

Come along for the meet up anyway, TB?

WB - if I can get enough people interested in the book swap will definitely do it again. But so far I'm struggling with this!

As various people can't make August, I think it might be better to move this to September. What think you all?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 04/07/2008 13:16

September's fine as well but we may have to meet in a cafe.

GloriaMumble · 04/07/2008 18:59

can I come too? Can bring books (mainly trashy thrillers) can do august, after 14th

AtheneNoctua · 04/07/2008 19:37

We could still meet up (without books) in August.

BecauseImWorthIt · 05/07/2008 10:40

As we're having a meet up next Friday (assume it's still on?) can I suggest that we move the book swap thing to September, when those who do want to do the book thing are free?

We could always have another alcohol-only meet in August!

I shall put a stake in the ground, and suggest Friday September 12 as a book swap meet up.

Whose up for that? Put your name on the list

bump

OP posts:
cthea · 18/08/2008 22:54

Still OK for me.

BecauseImWorthIt · 18/08/2008 23:05

Fooled me with your abbreviated name!

Any suggestions as to where we should go? The original idea of a picnic is probably not feasible given the date/current weather!

OP posts:
cthea · 18/08/2008 23:09

I suppose it depends who'll be there, then we can decide whether to stick to Wimbledon or go further out, to Kingston or Teddington (as in the original plan).

Is it still on for book swap and or meet up in SW london? If so can I join. Am based in Wimbledon and have loads of books.

BecauseImWorthIt · 22/08/2008 16:37

Definitely still on, as long as everyone agrees to it!

I'm in Merton Park, so not too far away - we could do something in Wimbledon?

So sign up if you're coming - date is Friday 12 September:
