Gah. Stupid emoticons.

HollyBerrie · 19/12/2007 12:29

I can spell literary...

Darcy for me me me!...Or else I'll have Lee Lee Lee!

Zebedeedoodah · 19/12/2007 12:34

We could take it in turns

HollyBerrie · 19/12/2007 12:54

Yes and Lee could learn from Darcy to be the silent type

Zebedeedoodah · 19/12/2007 13:08

That would be a great help. I've always preferred the strong, silent, moody type (I blame all those blinkin' classic novels I read at a young and impressionable age )

HollyBerrie · 19/12/2007 14:40

...this is what I had children for...Ds has just said that I am prettier than the lady on the front of the magazine...Vanessa Paradis.

Zebedeedoodah · 19/12/2007 15:05

I like your DS. He sounds like a very nice chap! Either that or he's buttering you up for Christmas.

We're in wind-down mode here. one of the team has just been reading The Night Before Christmas to us all. Ahhhhh.

MarsyChristmas · 19/12/2007 18:32

I loved Joseph! Have seen it a couple of times and taken the children. Great fun!

I shall leave you to it but don't forget to bellow when you're planning another one!

LyraSilvertinsel · 19/12/2007 18:41

Will do Mars.

MarsyChristmas · 19/12/2007 18:43
HollyBerrie · 19/12/2007 19:52

Would like to think we'll do it again Marsey supposing the rest of them don't turn out to ne nutters!

binklebells · 19/12/2007 20:55

Is it just mine or are all dh's complete duffers??!

As I have wrapped all the presents for family/friends (around 50 or so) I insisted that he wrapped up a couple of presents for dd then put them back in the wardrobe and not put under the tree for obvious reasons. The task was obviously beyond him as he has put them under the tree in full view - tagged up and everything because - get this - his legs are too tired to carry them back upstairs!!

The lazy swine would rather trash our dd's belief and excitement in Father Christmas than be arsed to carry the presents back upstairs out of the way until Christmas day!!

FUME!!!

I am in bed because my ears are still bad and he is getting shirty now insisting I have to come down and help him move them!! (we are talking 4 medium parcels at most)

That's how cross I am! Have posted twice!!

What a shame Marsy didnt come on a bit earlier or she could have joined us

LyraSilvertinsel · 19/12/2007 21:22

That's really a bit crap. I understand why you're so angry. It's very selfish of him. Did DD see them?

binklebells · 19/12/2007 21:25

No she's in bed. He was shouting up the stairs for me to come and help him (gggrr!!) move them back upstairs and I just said to leave them and I would sort it out in the morning before she sees them. What is so hard about wrapping them up in situ upstairs and why do men begrudge helping with the whole Christmas effort even in the most minimal way (or is it just mine?)

LyraSilvertinsel · 19/12/2007 21:28

I know. DP expects me to buy and wrap everything. He is paying though
He's just announced that he needs me to buy, wrap and post last-minute emergency presents for his niece and nephew in South Africa and he can't even remember how old they are.

binklebells · 19/12/2007 21:46

typical!

And yes, dh is paying but that doesn't require any actual effort in my opinion as such. It has just rankled me and I am feeling most resentful now!

Anyway, on to more cheery things, how are you Lyra? I have been off to the docs again today - I have a squirty thing to go up my nose to help sort out all the gunk and messy stuff in my left (perforated) ear and have been told to put olive oil in my right ear for five nights - not a particularly pleasant sensation but I must SIMPLY MUST have tiptop hearing re-installed for January

LyraSilvertinsel · 19/12/2007 22:04

Oh dear, that doesn't sound like much fun.
I'm fine, been extremely busy the last week. I had six nights out in a row and although it was fun it was very knackering and I was hung over most days. Which explains why I haven't been on MN much. Last night was my first night in in ages and it was soooo nice. I don't usually go out that much, it was just all the Christmas dos coming at once.

binklebells · 19/12/2007 22:08

I know, it always seems like a great idea to be going to lots of stuff, being very sociable etc but by about the third outing I am definately flagging and yearning for my couch, my jarmies and cup of tea and some non-energy sapping MNing!

HollyBerrie · 20/12/2007 07:20

Mmmm interesting. I don't think of it as his money. My work is far harder than his! I suppose since we've been together 20 years I've had a lot of time to come to think of it as our money.

Door 20

Zebedeedoodah · 20/12/2007 08:56

Men are just lazy arses, pure & simple!

LyraSilvertinsel · 20/12/2007 11:07

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the shopping I've still got to do. Not only do i have the overseas rellies to buy for (unexpectedly) another parcel arrived this morning with presents for the boys from friends i wasn't expecting to buy for. They have four children so I've got to buy for all of them, wrap and post by this afternoon to have any hope of it getting there by Christmas.
And I thought my shopping was nearly done.

HollyBerrie · 20/12/2007 15:24

I'm the same Lyra... and it needs to be done in time for swapping gifts this weekend...
Bah Humbug!

LyraSilvertinsel · 20/12/2007 18:04

Blimmin 'eck, now I remember why I was permanently stressed before DS1 started school. I took them shopping this afternoon (huge list of things to get) and we had six wee wee emergencies (drop everything and run for the nearest loo/shady alleyway), one poo poo emergency, numerous demands for food and drink, DS2 wandering off wherever he felt like it so I kept having to shout after him, DS1 clowning around in packed shops and knocking things off shelves/tripping people up. Now I'm knackered and in need of a fag even though I gave up ages ago.
I did get it all done though and the presents are all wrapped and packaged ready to go to the post office in the morning.
Phew.
