hello everyone and to all the newbies. Pevie.

James was born in April last year. Looking back it doesn't seem very long ago that when trixy was giving us tips about what to pack while we were busy packing our hospital bag.

It's been over 4 months now since he left us, not a day goes by without missing him and yes, it doesn't seem fair sometimes.

I think the darkest period of my life was after James was born, they noticed somethings wrong but couldn't really tell us, we were worried but tried to hope for the best..then it later became very clear that he's not going to get better, they kind of told us to prepare for the worse, still, when we were told that he will not live for very long, we were devastated.

Life can sometimes be hard when I think of Jim Jim but then someone told me that you carry your son in your heart instead on your shoulders, very well said i think. It's a privilege to be his mother and shared his life with him. Every now and then I will have a good cry and then I will look up to the sky thinking of Jim Jim, he is now safe and well and I like to think I will see him again one day.

He's the most beautiful boy in my eyes!! if you have yet seen a pic of him, you can go to his memorial site.james-terrence-lynch.gonetoosoon.co.uk/my_index.php

meep · 17/01/2008 15:02

Oh vio - I wasn't on MN when Jim Jim was here - he is utterly adorable with the most gorgeous big eyes and it is lovely that you feel that it is a privilege to be his mum. You are incredibly brave. I don't know how you cope. It must have been the hardest thing to go through.
I know I don't really know you but just wanted to send you a big hug.

clu · 18/01/2008 19:26

Vio, I joined just when jim jim died, so had not read the full story, my heart goes out to you and hope you can cherish the memories hugs

are we any further forward with the meet up?

Luna How did the jags go? do you have a red and green buggy, I saw someone with twins today around Lily's age in a red and green pram and an older couple in anniesland and you did say your inlaws were coming. Would be a major coincidence but well you never know.!

They have decided a loss adjuster has to come to the flat now so have to wait for that before they can decide on a builder, which means it is going to take even longer. I am using the bedroom now as I was going to murder my DF (keep forgetting we got engaged on christmas day - oops) and could not stand the 3 of us living out of one room. I just can not wait to move out of this flat!

HOpe you are all well

lunachick9 · 18/01/2008 21:44

Just a quickie as I have to go prepare my pilates class ( i.e shave my legs!) and tidy the house for the visitors we are getting tomorrow.

The girls jags went a lot better than expected. They cried for about 30 seconds and then got distracted by the lights. They don't seem to have reacted to it apart from being a little sleepier than usual. Only another 4 weeks till the next set!

Clu - congratulations on the engagement. Sorry that the work on the flat is going to take so long. That was us today - I don't always look that much of a mess! We decided to take the girls out as they were really sleepy but wouldn't settle in the house.
I will email you with my email address the next time I get a chance to come online.

Vio - I had read some of your posts when I joined and I just want to say your son is beautiful and I am in awe of the way you have coped with everything.

Take care. x

clu · 18/01/2008 22:44

lol, what a small world, luna I only saw the back of your head, (I was sitting in traffic lights)and tbh never really thought it would be you but there you go!

bikedo · 19/01/2008 20:46

Hi there

Geordiemacminx invited me over, hope you don't mind me gatecrashing! I currently live in South Lanarkshire with my 20 month old DS and his Dad, who I'm going through a very amicable separation at the moment. I work in Glasgow (which is a fair old commute) but am due to be starting a new job 15 minutes away in March. However, I really want to move back to Glasgow once we've sold this house and am currently having a bit of a nightmare with all the practicalities and trying to sort out childcare etc.

Anyways, hey! Nice to meet you all and hopefully will get to know you all soon!

Bikedo x

hi bikedo - welcome . All sounds a bit complicated, but hope you're working things out.

Poor old ds2 - 1st birthday tomorrow, mothercare bleedin online haven't delivered his birthday present and he's got a stinking cold. Plus ds1 (who refuses to do anything at the moment, including things he really wants to do, on account of being twoandabit) has told us that he doesn't want to sing Happy Birthday to Jacob. I imagine he will have forgotten this by tomorrow.

Clu - am feeling your pain - after our ghastly dry rot traumas we now have the world's slooooowest decorator painting the kitchen and bathroom so the flat is upside-down again, only this time we're trying to live in it as well. Will your insurance cover accommodation elsewhere while the work is done? We got ours paid for and shipped out while the builders were here.

clu · 19/01/2008 21:05

hi! bikedo, sorry to hear about your seperation but well done for being amicable.

Im Claire ,live in anniesland with DF and DD 12 weeks so currently on maternity.

Has anyone flown to Ireland with a baby, on the ferry I did not need a passport but am taking Lily on the plane next month and not sure if I need a passport.?? Would like not to have to spend the money if not need to!

I am going alone to MIL for a week without DF. I can't believe it really we had a happily mutual hatred of each other until I was three months pregnant. Now we actually get on really well though I do always wait for the sting in the tail, I can not express how intense the mutual hatred was. I am a bit nervous as have not been there alone without DF but she has been a great support and adores Lily, not to mention the copious amounts of money she has spent on her. See im babbling I am nervous!

geordiemacminx · 19/01/2008 21:07

If it is classed an an internal flight then you dont need a passport, just take her birth certificate? If its not internal then you will need one?

Hi all, just catching up. Back all better now - those deep heat thingies work wonders!

Still on the look out for a house lp77 - GMM has converted us to Uddingston at the mo, so keeping eyes peeled there for something good, but still considering other places too. Suppose it just depends on what is out there when we finally get the flat up for sale.

Not me with the pink scary tarantula - was it real Meep?!

Hi liath, luna, pevie and bikedo.

Vio, I have looked at Jim Jim's web site. What a truly beautiful boy! You can tell a lot by a person's eyes I think and his are very brave and clear in his picture. A beautiful soul.

Congrats clu and happy birthday to ME's DS2.

Things not so great here. DD's cold has now turned into a terrible cold, high temperature, conjunctivitus and an ear infection (I think), so looks like we are going to have to call a doc in the morning. Managed to get temperature down a bit and have given her mediced, but I am presuming she'll need antibiotics for the eyes and the ears - am I right?

Probably means no swimming (again!) WO.

How was baby sensory GMM - did you go?

By the way thinking of changing my MN name as I notice there is someone that has almost exactly the same name as me. How do I go about doing that? Need ideas too...

monday - am ME ,CLU, pm WO,CLU, EB
tuesday - am ME ,CLU- pm - WO, CLU, EB
wednesday - am WO,CLU, EB pm WO ME,CLU, EB

Sorry for long rambling post.

weeonion · 20/01/2008 00:18

oh no missus - poor you and AA. did she stay the day at her grans??

ellesbelles · 20/01/2008 16:24

Yeah she was at her gran's WO, but the minute she came back in the door I could tell things were not right. Her temperature was so high and she was very lethargic and her eyes were bright red and had lovely green stuff coming out of them. Not blaming the in-laws, but don't know if maybe the excitement and the heat in their house maybe made things a bit worse.

meep · 20/01/2008 16:24

Hi everyone! Not been on for a while - have been savouring every minute with minimeep because I go back to work TOMORROW!!! Ugh!
She has settled into nursery really well - seems to be so excited that she hardly sleeps! At least she is smiley and I haven't seen any tears. My folks are looking after her one day a week and I get Wednesday with her (I can't wait) so it will be bearable. I think my DH is fed up at me going on about how much i'll miss her and don't want to go back
Anyway - enough of my woes - hello to Bikedo - I'm quite new too
Hugs to your dd EB
Minuimeep has just woken - I'm off for more cuddles

AngelKG77 · 21/01/2008 00:00

Hi to all! new to mumsnet, new to glasgow, new to being a mum... happy to have found you, hope you don't mind an addition... sorry for caps/typos - typing one handed whilst bf... DH is from here - i'm american by birth, we just moved oner here at the end of September...i was following the january antenatal club in nov and dec, and then isabella surprised us all and was born 3 weeks early on january 2 at 5:32 am...had a rough go at the start, but we're home now and feeling much better...so here i am wondering what to do/where to go/would love to meet some other mums/generally just get out of the house...am very mobile and off work until next summer...

geordiemacminx · 21/01/2008 06:53

Angel - lovely to "see" you. - You have the littlest baby on here - I bet she is all scrummy and gorgeous and tiny (not get broody or anything )

There are quite a few of us on here that arent actually from Scotland so you're in good company.

We have regular meet-ups for coffee and cake and such like... although I know I am trying to shift baby weight...ds is nearly 9 months so there is no excuse!!

Whereabouts in Glagow are you?

midnightexpress · 21/01/2008 08:33

hi angel - good to meet you. We're making a rather rubbish attempt at arranging a meet-up at the moment so do come along if we ever get it sorted out.

Weds afternoon looking favourite so far - does that suit everyone who hasn't replied yet? If so, let's go for it. I think tallulah's back this week too, isn't she?

weeonion · 21/01/2008 12:32

hi angel - nice to see you. where in glasgow are you?
lets just go for a date - how about either wed 30th or 6th feb?? i am not so hot on venues - and there may be quite a grouping of us so we need somewhere quietish with space? does city centre suit? the cca has quite a nice cafe - but not may the most baby friendly. i would put a vote in for either mono or 13th note. both veggie, chilled and not too busy.

suggestions??

midnightexpress · 21/01/2008 13:12

How about the Winter garden at the People's Palace? It's reasonably central - certainly walking distance from Argyle St and fairly contained for roaming toddlers...

6th better for me as I have my mum up from down south next week.

geordiemacminx · 21/01/2008 13:14

I suggest a steak house

weeonion · 21/01/2008 13:23

steak house - . i will have to bring a fresh bit of flesh for you GMM.

the winter palace is great. plenty of high chairs.
