Did my email arrive?

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 14:38

They send you an e-mail which you then opens into a window that you print off and voila! your tickets are there - ok so I'll bring them with me (burden of responsibility - eek!!) on the day

Not checked my e-mail yet Lyra, will do in a min and confirm

binkleandflip · 31/10/2007 14:46

Lyra, got your e-mail now thanks - have e-mailed back too.

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 17:13

Is anyone else taking their DC trick or treating? Mine are going to a party first then out in local streets with some of the neighbours' children (and mums of course). I'll post pics of DSs later in their witch and wizard outfits.

LyraSilvertongue · 31/10/2007 23:03

For those who haven't seen the Heat spread yet, it's here

Berrie · 01/11/2007 07:18

Where are the pics Lyra?

Zebedeedoodah · 01/11/2007 08:55

Nope. No trick or treating in Zeb towers last night. We're the ones that live down a potentially scary 2/3 mile lane with no lights and hooting owls and wandering badgers. Any kid attempting that on Hallowe'en would have to have been VERY brave.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 08:56

I'll do them later. We got in very late (after 8) from the Hallowen party so i couldn't be bothered last night.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 08:57

The boys had a lovely time though and they now each have a pumpkin-shaped bucketful of sweeties

Berrie · 01/11/2007 08:59

Lordy just seen my dreeeeaaaam job at a school I did teaching practise at....oh oh oh not keen to put dd in Nursery though...It's 0.3 of the week, what would that be? (Berrie hopes you've forgoton she's doing maths tuition)

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 09:00

How did it go yesterday? Who looks after DC when you're working?

Berrie · 01/11/2007 09:16

It was fine, all the nerves were quite misplaced. This is going to be eeeasy money! Not sure about the supply this afternoon though...I've got to teach French.

My Mum did the looking after. Apparantly dd cried for 1/2 hour when she got her up Having my Mum is like having a supply teacher in your class who does not mark the work she's set...my Mum does not clear up as they go along so I come home to playdough, paper bits from sticking and glueing, all the toys out, trains out, books out...sigh. It was only for an hour until DH came home

Zebedeedoodah · 01/11/2007 09:29

Yikes Berrie! Can you ask your mother to clear up after herself? How old is DC? The worst day of my life was the first time I left DS with the childminder...

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 09:37

Oh dear, maybe have a word with your mum. Mine leave the house far tidier than I would when she babysits. maybe she didn't have time if you were only gone a hour or so? How old is DD again? I think past a certain age (2ish) children benefit from going to nursery even for just a few hours a week. DS2 certainly did (he went two full days a week earlier this year) but he was always really pleased to see me at the end of the day.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 09:38

How old was DS when you went back to work Zeb?

Berrie · 01/11/2007 09:38

Oh she already makes me feel like she's doing me a massive favour I wouldn't dare. DS is 4 next month and DD is just 2. I too remember leaving DS with the childminder...very grim.

Zebedeedoodah · 01/11/2007 11:40

DS was 18 months (January this year). The first few weeks were dreadful, but he's now absolutely thriving and loves both the childminder and the nursery.

Berrie - it sounds a bit of a pain, but I guess that's the price of using your mother. Maybe it will get better?

Berrie · 01/11/2007 11:54

Yeah probably...right logging off, going to get my teacher rags on...see you later!

binkleandflip · 01/11/2007 14:00

Berrie and Zeb - thank you - got my post from you this morn, I was quite excited - felt a bit like my birthday

I only ever get catalogues from kids retailers these days sent to me en masse (dont know why I never ever order from them due to a bad experience with Great Little Trading - ggrrr!!) but still they come!

Glad it went well Berrie

LyraSilvertongue · 01/11/2007 14:09

Sorry Binkle, I still haven't put the cheque in the post. Will get on to it right now...

binkleandflip · 01/11/2007 14:25

No rush Lyra

dd went to a 'non dress-up, no trick' Halloween party at the Church Hall Rainbows Group They werent allowed to dress up because of Pagan overtones although couldnt really imagine a group of five and six year old pre-Brownies evoking anything too otherworldly if they dressed up but there you go!

I did the house and drive up a bit with lights, chains round the gatepost etc to show willing before I went to college and apparently we were well visited and cleaned out of treats by about 7! I tried white-ing up the dog's face a bit with talc and put some strawberry jam round her chops so we could get her to greet the visitors were-wolf style but she kept licking it off so we abandoned that one..

binkleandflip · 01/11/2007 14:26

Lyra, did you post the pics of dc dressed up?

LyraSilverSparklers · 01/11/2007 14:33

No pics yet. We've had friends round for lunch (they've only just gone) so i spent the morning catching up on the houseowrk I've been neglecting all week.
Now I've got to take DS2 to the park before the sun goes in.

Zebedeedoodah · 01/11/2007 15:23

'Pagan overtones?' FGS!

Berrie · 01/11/2007 16:09

I'm back! I LOVED it!
I told Ma I thought the Head ought to ask me to do the French every Thursday but she said she wouldn't want to commit to every week...It felt odd being paid to have 3 hours away from the kids...I'd do it for free!
