Islington update

Hi Islingtonians and those nearby: Aelita, Simi and I met up for the first time on Wednesday with our little ones, which was lovely. We're hoping to arrange another date very soon and would love to meet some more local mumsnetters - especially those with youngish babies (ours are 5-8 months).

Let's try and find a date that's convenient for as many people as possible this time. Post your availabiity / non-availability here and let's see what we can work out.

Mid-afternoon (3ish) works best for me - Weds, Thurs and Fridays are all good.

Let's try for something mid-Oct - maybe the week commending 11th? Posey, I just re-read your message in the other thread about needing to meet earlier - I'm sure we can sort something out that suits everyone.

Hi
I would love to meet up but am away from 3rd until 17th October. Am always around Wed, Thurs, Fri, and any time of day suits me. My little boy is nearly nine months.

Posey · 21/09/2004 20:34

Thanks for thinking of me.
I don't know how sensible it is for me to try and meet you lot in a cafe. I have a very active toddler who will sit for a while but really would prefer to be running around!! Keep me informed though of any meetups and even if we only make it for a short while...

Anyone out there in the Islington/Highbury area with toddlers who fancy meeting up in a park or soft play place?!

Zinger · 25/09/2004 12:22

Getting a bit chilly for parks now but I'd definitely be up for meeting in a soft play area - can anyone recommend anywhere? Is Highbury Fields 2 O'Clock Club any good?? My DD is only 8 months but is still much happier with a bit of freedom to roam!

OP posts:
Zinger · 25/09/2004 12:26

Myrtle, do you want to try meeting up this week, say Fri (1st)? Anyone else?

OP posts:
myrtle · 26/09/2004 18:59

Hi Zinger
Yes, could do Friday 1st. Where would be a good place to meet? Anyone else like to join us?

Zinger · 27/09/2004 12:40

I've been meaning to try Highbury Fields 2 o'clock club for ages - we could meet there? There's a cafe nearby which I think would be open, although it looks a bit basic. If you'd prefer something more mummy-centred, we could go for Starbucks?

OP posts:
Zinger · 27/09/2004 12:56

Posey, is the 2 o'clock club too late for you? If another venue (and time, obviously) would mean that you could come, please suggest one!

Hi,
I'm also an Isligton mum and have been going to the 2o'clock club on a regular basis for quite a while. Inside is pretty small which is ok so long as they are not too busy. The Cafe in the park is really basic, and could be soo much better, but it's not a bad location to just meet. Have you tried Clissold Park? The cafe there is much better, it's inside and they have lots of highchairs. There is also a 1 o'clock club there although I've heard that's not great. I would be interested in meeting up and have 1year old

Hi all - I'm finally back here to organize an October meetup, as I said I would.

I'd love to do a toddler-meetup (though obviously little ones are welcome, too!) at a place where the little ones can run around. Afternoons about 3 pm work best for me.

How does Monday October 4 or Friday, October 8 sound - around 3 pm? Has anyone tried the soft Safari play area at the Sobell Centre on Hornsey Road?

Best,
Jennifer

Posey · 27/09/2004 20:56

We've been to the Sobell Safari a lot of times, also Zoomeround in Stoke Newington. If you go somewhere like that, I could always come along once I collected dd from school (she loves those places and could always drag a friend along)

The 2 o'clock club at Highbury Fields would be pushing it a bit for me, I'd only be there about 40 mins before having to get back for school. But don't hold off any arrangements for me, I'll just fit in if I can.

cityjen · 27/09/2004 22:14

I'd personally rather not do the Highbury 2'o'clock club as I find it really cramped if the weather is not great.

Jennifer

Zinger · 27/09/2004 22:43

OK, we've now got 2 meet-ups on the go: Fri 1 Oct for babies (2 x 8 months so far), with toddlers & children welcome, and 4/8 Oct for toddlers, with babies welcome.

I'll leave the latter to Cityjen -- and will maybe join you, depending on what you arrange and when.

Should we split into 2 threads to keep things simple do you think?

Any more babies joining us on 1 Oct? Further thoughts about venues? Walking distance from Highbury Corner is best for me.

cityjen · 28/09/2004 19:41

I was simply posting to see if there was any interest.

Jennifer

Zinger · 28/09/2004 22:24

Fine by me

OP posts:
Zinger · 28/09/2004 22:36

Why don't we try and get as many of us together as possible on Friday, then take it from there? I'm free next week too, just wanted to give Myrtle a chance before she goes away on the 3rd. I'm sure we'll all manage to meet up eventually. So who'd like to join us on Fri?

OP posts:
cityjen · 29/09/2004 10:18

I can't do Friday as my daughter is at nursery. Her new schedule starts next week.

Jennifer

cityjen · 29/09/2004 10:26

I started a new thread for Mums with toddlers who might be interested in meeting up on a Monday or a Friday (those are the only days I can do as other days my daughter is at nursery) ;)

Here's the thread

Jennifer

Zinger · 29/09/2004 10:29

OK, good idea. I may still gatecrash the toddlers meetup with my 8-month-old if that's OK!

So, is it just me and Myrtle this Fri, or is anyone else coming along? Myrtle, let me know your thoughts about venue (see below)

OP posts:
Zinger · 30/09/2004 09:18

Well, all the Islingtonians seem to have strangely disappeared ...

Myrtle, if I don't hear from you by this afternoon I'll assume tomorrow's not happening. If you (or anyone else) ARE still up for it, please email me via 'contact another talker' above.

OP posts:
Zinger · 30/09/2004 09:45

BTW, I'm planning to go to the London Christmas party , and I see there are a couple of other Islington mums on the list - so if we don't meet before December, we'll hopefully catch up there.

OP posts:
myrtle · 30/09/2004 17:30

Hi Zinger
I hope it's not too late, but I've been out all day. I can still do tomorrow, if you are still free, but don't worry if you've arranged to do something else. What about Starbucks at Highbury Corner? Let me know.
Myrtle

Zinger · 30/09/2004 19:52

Hi Myrtle, just got your email. OK, should be able to do Starbucks at about 3. I'm emailing you my mobile no. in case there are any problems - could you do the same?

OP posts:
Zinger · 30/09/2004 20:00

Needless to say, anyone else is welcome to join us - drop me an email if you fancy it

Zinger · 01/10/2004 23:56

Myrtle and I had a lovely little meet-up today. Would be great to meet any other local mums soon - I'll keep my eye out on the board for any more meetings and will post details of anything I arrange with the mums I've met so far.
