Islington update

Hi Islingtonians and those nearby: Aelita, Simi and I met up for the first time on Wednesday with our little ones, which was lovely. We're hoping to arrange another date very soon and would love to meet some more local mumsnetters - especially those with youngish babies (ours are 5-8 months).

Let's try and find a date that's convenient for as many people as possible this time. Post your availabiity / non-availability here and let's see what we can work out.

Mid-afternoon (3ish) works best for me - Weds, Thurs and Fridays are all good.

I'm also in the de beauvoir / dalston area and have a 2.5 yo DS and 5 (nearly 6) yo DD.
I work part time but would love to come to a soft play centre meet up. Would probably bring along my nearly 1 yo nephew.

Thanks for the info frogs. Aelita, let's still give the Playhouse a try - and explore the others if we don't like it. We could arrange another meetup there. Kid, which days are you free?

Kid, see also this thread if you haven't already, re. our meetup on Fri 22 Oct.

kid · 11/10/2004 09:44

I'm free Weds and Thurs and alternative Fridays.
I have to collect DD from school at 3:30.

Zinger · 11/10/2004 10:16

They're good days for me too frogs. Is 22nd one of your free Fridays? Please join us if so.

Ah - on second thoughts our timing on the 22nd probaby doesn't fit in with your school run. I'm finding I can now usually get out of the house and into central Islington for about 10.30 most days, so if someone fancies arranging a morning meet-up I'd do my best to be there

OP posts:
kid · 11/10/2004 13:02

I'm working on the 22nd. Not to worry, I'll look out for future meet-ups.

Zinger · 11/10/2004 13:58

OK or feel free to suggest a date and time!

OP posts:
Simi · 11/10/2004 18:41

I am still up for the meet-up next week. Just read about the "Playhouse Idea", would be great if you could let me know when you are going as I would like to join you! Also, if anyone wants to meet up for a coffee before 22nd let me know!

Zinger · 11/10/2004 19:17

Looking forward to seeing you on the 22nd Simi. We'll definitely let you know about the Playhouse - we'll post a message here when we decide to go.

OP posts:
Posey · 11/10/2004 21:00

Does the Playhouse definitely still exist? I was under the impression it had moved to Green Lanes.
I'd be up for a soft play meet up, and anything else going on.

Zinger · 12/10/2004 09:01

Posey, don't suppose you can make it on the 22nd ? Seems like there are a few people who'd prefer mornings so it's just a question of someone setting a date - as I said below, I'd try to be there too

Zinger · 12/10/2004 09:24

Simi + anyone else interested: I'm going to the Central Library Under 3's Books for Babies session again this Friday at 10.30 if anyone fancies meeting there

OP posts:
aelita · 12/10/2004 13:36

I think Posey is right regarding the Playhouse. I just got a 'number not available' when I tried to call,

aelita · 12/10/2004 13:53

..so the Playhouse Frogs and Posey referred to must be the same one. I just did a streetmap search for Green Lanes but it threw up several options. Where exactly is it and how easy is it to get to on public transport, anyone?

frogs · 12/10/2004 14:00

Playhouse in Green Lanes v. v. easy to get to from me (she said, selfishly), via 141 bus which goes from door to door. But any of the buses that goes up Green Lanes would do it (341? 476? can't remember which ones...)

Green Lanes is a long road that starts at Newington Green and ends up at Wood Green Shopping Centre, tho' it may change names somewhere inbetween. The Castle Climbing centre is just the far side of Clissold Park -- you can see the big tower from the park.

Won't come to soft play just yet as dd2, just like my other two, is resolutely immobile at nearly 10 months -- no rolling over, no crawling, nothing. So it would be a bit of a waste of the entry fee.

How's your new incarnation as full-time mum, going, aelita? If I don't see you today at after-school music doing the childminder pickup, Hello!!!

Zinger · 12/10/2004 14:36

Green Lanes would be a bit of a trek for me (she also said selfishly ) - Zoomaround would be handier ...

OP posts:
bundle · 12/10/2004 14:38

frogs, i don't think you have to pay at the castle for immobile ones.

aelita · 12/10/2004 19:11

Hey Frogs..thanks for the detailed info. Full-time mum-dom is lovely, for now anyway! I'm having a couple of weeks off before I crack on with the home-working thing, but DS is still with the childminder 2 days. Not on Tuesdays though this week, so no music-class! We'll have to revive our Tchibo coffee-mornings,

Posey · 12/10/2004 21:15

Sorry, really can't do the 22nd (school picking up time), but really would like a softplay meet up, preferably somewhere/time I can get back to get dd at 3.15! One day I'll meet up with you lot!

frogs · 12/10/2004 21:26

Coffee at Tchibo sounds good, aelita! We could even go upmarket and meet at Tchibo in the N1 shopping centre. Or sell out from our E8 roots completely, and meet at Starbucks on Upper Street.

Any takers?

mumfromlondon · 12/10/2004 22:00

hello i am new here just wanted to say hello, i am trying to work out how everything works, do you have a chat room where you all meet ion here,. i am a mum of four children, i live near green lanes

aelita · 12/10/2004 22:49

Leave E8??
Actually, I was thinking of suggesting we try out the cafe at the Estorick Collection near Canonbury Square. It might be a good compromise between E8-ers and N1-ers if it's got the space.
Has anyone been?

Simi · 13/10/2004 09:42

Zinger, thanks for the invite to the Central Library, sounds good but ds has got a bad cold and I have to see how he feels, will let you know. Coffee at Tchibo, Starbucks or anywhere else sounds good too, have not been to the cafe near Canonbury Square, but happy to give it a go!

Zinger · 13/10/2004 18:26

Yes, I've been to the Estorick and it's really nice. Went with DD in the summer and we sat outside - it's not huge inside but has always been very quiet when I've been. Good choice I reckon. Directions etc. here
