Eleusis · 24/05/2007 15:13

Congrats MrsR. We must celebrate. One interview and you got the job. That is great!

Speaking of work, I should be doing some...

foxcub · 24/05/2007 15:47

Nanou, that's fine. I'm easy either way, as the actress said to the bishop.

Nanou1 · 24/05/2007 16:15

foxie is off again
lol lol
is it the weather?

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 16:43

I really need some reassurance now that I'm not a terrible mother . Just been to storytime at the library and we usually stay afterwards to have a play & a chat with other mums. Anyway, ds got away in the second I didn't keep my eye on him and was out of the door & into the car park . Fortunately, one of the librarians was outside and had picked him up while I was rushing out.

I just can't believe that I didn't see him run out as usually we all keep a v close eye on the dcs as they normally run for the door, and gk what would've happened to him if the librarian hadn't have been outside.

MrsRecycle · 24/05/2007 16:44

Thanks ele - I'll bring some champers tomorrow night. Now my childminder has told me that she has to have an operation the week after I start so I have to sort out childcare for ds for a week. But I've got plenty of people queuing up for him so should be no problem.

Eleusis · 24/05/2007 16:46

These things happen to all of us. Last night I brought some groceries in fron the car. Let both kids come out to help. DD went in with her bag, I picked up the other tooand said "come on DS" and walked to the door. Was he behind me when I got to the door? No, he was 5 feet from the street. So I ran back to get him thinking what a stupid woman I am for thinking the 2 year was going to follow me.

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 16:55

thanks ele. Came home and was in tears at the thought of what could've happened.

Nanou1 · 24/05/2007 17:01

pud... last night we did not put india in her car seat. parked the car at home, she managed to get to the front and managed to open the door to get out ; falling of course!!!! it happens so quickly to any of us. big hugs pud got to go pick up my princess

MrsRecycle · 24/05/2007 17:02

We were in a pub on NY eve and my df's ds went AWOL - the pub was on a main road and we had the whole area searching for him. It was a good 10 minutes before we discovered him, sitting upstairs in the landlady's lounge watching a DVD. dh said next time, he has to work out where the landlady keeps her takings lol.

foxcub · 24/05/2007 18:51

Puds - don't worry - that's normal [big hugs] - we try and prevent these things happening, but somehow they occassionally do! No harm done eh?

had crappo day, what with three school runs (two walking in the heat - sweaty fox), Monti yowling all day and not being able to sleep 'cos of the heat and three glasses of rose plus two bars of green and blacks consumed within the past 20 minutes

foxcub · 24/05/2007 18:53

MrsR - congratulations on the new job!!

How many hours a week, what doing and where is it? Spill the beans!!!!

Do you know the weather forecast 4 next week?

gotta go, feeding time....

pudding77 · 24/05/2007 19:08

thanks for the reassurance, just have to try to stop dwelling on it now!

Congratulations MrsR, can't wait to hear about it tomorrow!

quokka · 24/05/2007 19:14

wow job mrsr how exciting!

Puds ds2 crawled out the back yard and then into the garage where the door was open to the rear lane and I grabbed him just was he was going onto the road with a car coming straight for him . Thank god I was making a cup of tea and was looking out the window .

quokka · 24/05/2007 19:18

just reread that and it sounds terrible!

foxcub · 24/05/2007 19:19

[fox picks up the phone to social services]

MrsRecycle · 24/05/2007 19:40

Foxie - just tried to check out the weather for Weds/Thurs next week but it doesn't go that far. Please let there be sunshine. If not, we can have a few drinks whilst the LOs get entertained by the Kids team there.

Thanks for all your congrats - I've just had an email from my new boss saying I was very impressive in the interview.

I'll tell you all about my new role tomorrow!

mellow2 · 24/05/2007 19:51

Congrats on the job MrsR!

Puds,
I've had a few incidents at home where dd got injured because I wasn't paying enough attention to her.
Don't dwell on it.

So is everyone bringing something to drink tomorrow?

Kewcumber,
Do you need us to bring anything else?

OP posts:
mellow2 · 24/05/2007 20:06

MrsR,

uk.weather.com does a 10-day forecast that is fairly accurate. You might try them.

OP posts:
MrsRecycle · 24/05/2007 20:31

Thanks mellow - I hope they're not accurate - it says showers all next week

Kewcumber · 24/05/2007 22:21

think I'm going to shoot for Hounslow Urban farm on Saturday morning. Anyone else interested?

Caraloony · 24/05/2007 22:51

Hello lasses,
I'm a non-working Aussie mum who's been here for a year and haven't managed to meet a soul yet... so I can't believe my babybrain (which first hit four years ago, BTW) is so bad I didn't google your kind of group earlier.
Anyway, I've got two littlies aged 1 and 3 but nearly 2 and 4, who love adventures and beer gardens and Spaghetti Vongole at Carluccio's. Our normal adventures seem to revolve either around Kew or Syon House but there are only so many duckponds you can do without feeling jaded, and I'm hankering for some good grownup company. We're in Chiswick, and would love to catch up with anyone, anywhere, anytime. My two are in nursery on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so they tend to be my chore days - but I'm also a brilliant procrastinator so that doesn't exlcude those days from a bit of fun too
Cheerio...

mellow2 · 24/05/2007 22:55

Hello Caraloony. Welcome to the thread.

OP posts:
Eleusis · 25/05/2007 07:52

Hi Caralooney. Mine are 2 (just last weekend) and 4 (in March). So, very similar ages. But I work full time so can never make the day time meets. Maybe if a weekend meet is organised sometime in the future I might come out with them.

Are you coming to the margarita party / Qoukka leaving ( sniff sniff]) do tonight?

Kew, you don't mind if I invite strangers from the internet, do you???

Caraloony · 25/05/2007 09:01

Lol thanks Ele for the invite and believe me, I can't think of a better way to launch myself into MN. My old group in Australia was glued together by monthly girls' nights outs where the men had to struggle with the kids (their tales of woe often being a great source of hilarity in subsequent nights out). Unfortunately DH is having a work crisis this week though and coincidentally went to the doctor where she discovered his blood pressure is 190/110 - minding the kids probably goes on the list of bans for him along with alcohol, coffee and salt. So thank you, have a few for me, and hopefully we'll catch up another time soon.
