Hi All - Tried out Sticky fingers today - quieter than last Friday! Was rather disturbed by the end of the morning. Noticed a couple of children, one about 10mths in baby walker and boy about 18 mths left in pushchair. Both unattended for over 10 mins. My DS noticed as well as he kept telling me about the little girl in the babywalker He kept saying "Out, Out" she was obviously distressed. He kept looking over at the boy crying and even went up to him and touched his hand! God love him.Woman making craft stuff kept looking over and eventually came and pushed the walker over to her - Did not like the look of her. Another mum came over to me and asked me if I was a regular as she was getting very upset about the little boy. She said he had been crying for over 10 minutes and that what seemed like a childminder was in charge of about 3 kids but not looking after them. It made me want to get up and leave. Spoke to one of the helpers and she suggested I talk to the organiser. She immediately went over to the scary looking woman. Don't know what was said but noticed the other childminder (again, not 100% sure but we both agreed they didn't "act" like these kids mothers plus the age difference, features, etc!!) finally came over to the little boy and took him out of the pram and checked his bottom! Am getting upset again now just typing this. Has anyone else experienced this? Felt so sorry for these little ones as last week everyone looked so happy! Keep thinking what if they were my children and this was how the childminder was looking after them.
Anyway, sorry to offload but it's something that's been bothering me all day.
Have a good session tomorrow. Will try and stick to the Fridays I think from now on!
A mum told me about Picton Library on a Tues am - story time, etc 10-11.30 I think, run through sure start. Free session with snack/drink and a craft activity. Will find out about it and let you know. Unless somebody has already tried it.?

Hi all, have a great weekend. Alliwannadoo, yes I did get your reply and am so so sorry for not replying. I have had a mad week, my Mum is on holiday (she usually helps me) and its co-incided with a visit from my MIL and doctors app for baby, consultant for George's eyes etc. I have hardly logged on to be honest. I am very much looking forward to meeting up next week. I thought I'd go to Grandmas on Thursday (George asked me yesterday if I could take him and I couldn't and wouldn't mind trying out sticky fingers on friday but I think its probably too young for Charlie (nearly 4 months).

I have to say though I'm a bit put off. Bron that was a horrendous thing to see. I would have been really upset to see that myself. I can't bear people ignoring children (apart from when they are having horrible tantrums that is!!) and you were so right to query it.

MummytoSteven, sorry I couldn't make this Thursday to see wimbledon but with my mum being away I had George too. I might be able to make the next one though, hope so. Maybe see you too next Thursday.

Well girls thats it, better go, have more frantic cleaning to do in lieu of MIL's inspection ......

Much Love to all and have good weekend x

leglebegle · 15/10/2004 15:05

nearly forgot, bebby, i would like to meet for coffee and will check which day (19th or 23rd) and will post back x

bebby · 15/10/2004 17:14

Hi all,

Let me know if anyone is up for a Tues 19 Oct meet. Alliw can't you blag a day off it would be good to catch up again? Liverpooldoula - we must talk! I logged onto the doula site and made enquiries about a taster session in London just after I stopped working full time, to be honest it was too soon and i really couldn't think about doing the training until next year, anyway I wrote down the details for a Liverpool Doula who lives in South Liverpool with the intention of calling this person up to discuss what the training entails, surely it must be you! Please contact me via [email protected], I would really like to talk about the Doula training. Anyway welcome to Mumsnet! I will check the site Monday to see if anyone is up for a Tuesday meet, have a great weekend everyone .

MummyToSteven · 15/10/2004 17:33

Hello all!
Legalbegle - are you around on Monday mornings to try the babies bit of the Frontline Centre- I can promise you that is a lot less busy, and all mums/no childminders there. Such a shame that happened at the one on Friday, Bron. Turned out that they changed the film on Thursday - ended up being Hero instead - not quite the same genre really as Wimbledon!

Bron - where is Picton Library? Is it anywhere near the Picton Sports Centre/SureStart Centre?

Bebby - Tuesday would be fine for coffee

mishi9123 · 15/10/2004 18:23

HI ALL
BRON that is bad..was that at thursdays group? Today seemed to be good as usual no major incidents with little ones, infact little crying in general until around 11.30 when a lot were ready to go home...lol
Would love to meet up...cant make thursday as I have to take A for his MMR at 11.30 But most other days are great apart from wednesday as I go to two groups and tend to meet myself coming backwards...lol
Take care

mishi9123 · 15/10/2004 19:27

hi all
just been thinking...hard task i know
but wondered how you would all feel about having a xmas lunch out. Only somewhere like ceasers place or a whacky warehouse so the little ones can run mad....just to go for lunch around 12th ish of december...dont even know what day that is...lol
but if you are all interested then we should sort something out we could even do a mini secret santa type thing where we buy one pressie for a fiver for each little one...let me know..i dont mind trying to organise it...hope im not stepping on anybodies toes just seeing everyone else going on about xmas meet ups and wondered if we should have one....gone on enough
take care

leglebegle · 15/10/2004 19:48

Mishi - fab idea. But what about a Xmas meet up without children ??? Maybe one evening somewhere. Might be fun. I don't mind having one with children and one without if you fancy it x

pupuce · 16/10/2004 11:42

Bebby - if for any reason Liverpool doula doesn't reply, feel free to contact me. I have been a mumsnetter for a long time and have been a doula for quite a while too, I have offered advice on training to potential/wanabe doulas.
I am here

alliwannado · 16/10/2004 21:23

Great Idea Mishi, look forward to that......and I would also like a night without the kids, a few drinks down Allerton Road
Sorry Bebby Tuesday is not good for me, its the Harvest festival at sons school so got to go and watch the performance or he'd be very upset, hope to make the next meet though.
Bron what a bad thing to witness and I know I'd have had to say something, that sounds awful.... glad nothing like that has happened on friday.... does sound like childminder because surely a mother couldn't do that.
I will be at sticky fingers again Friday.
enjoy the rest of the weekend

Thanks for the feedback re. sticky fingers. Glad Friday was a good session. Please don't let anyone be put off by what I witnessed. The session is superbly organised with lots of lovely people. Will be going this Friday so anyone going I will post later in the week and maybe suggest an area where I will sit with a copy of something in my hand!to identify myself.
MTS - Picton Library is on Wavertree High Street - not sure where the sure start centre is but was told the session is run by sure start so could be the same place?
Bebby - you are talking about a meetup on the 19th. Do you fancy trying the Picton library session - 10.00-11.30am (will double check this)
Anyone else up for this session?
Mishi - like the idea of a meet up - would also put a child-free session first on my list but another one with children would be OK. Have you thought about the Greenbank Centre in Sefton Park? They have a cafe-bar there with good homemade food, children's toys and quite a big area for them to perhaps run around. I think you're right about booking early as everywhere will be busy that time. Personally, think Cesar's Palace would be too busy for a big group of kids/parents at that time of year. Yes, it was the Thursday session of Sticky fingers I was talking about.
Hope you've all had a good week-end - weather was great. We had a lovely run around in Calderstones with the kids picking up the usual acorns, conkers, leaves. Love Autumn and the colours around us. Think we are very lucky to have such varied seasons.

MummyToSteven · 17/10/2004 20:55

Hi everyone. love the idea of a xmas meet up - maybe one with and one without kids!

Bron42 - do you mean Wavertree Library on Picton Road????

leglebegle - how did it go with MIL's visit?

mishi9123 · 17/10/2004 22:37

fastasleep · 18/10/2004 18:39

Hey, does anyone here live near Norris Green? I live in the bit near to the East Lancs... I was thinking of going to the Ellergreen leisure centre thingy (Carr Lane) to fill some of my time sigh do any of you know it?

MummyToSteven · 18/10/2004 18:55

hi everyone!

leglebegle - didn't go to Frontline Centre today as think Steven is starting a cold - getting very hoarse, poor love

fastasleep - i live in central liverpool - are there any buggy friendly buses out to that leisure centre place and is there a cafe or anything - they won't let you park a buggy by gym machines while you go on them, unfortunately!!!! or do you feel like dragging yourself into town for a coffee??

reallyshy · 18/10/2004 20:17

hello everyone. fastasleep I live near Ellergreen centre. It is on a friday morning....believe it gets rather busy there....never been myself. Let me know if it is any good.

MummyToSteven · 18/10/2004 20:45

hello reallyshy. what exactly goes on on a Friday morning at that centre (sorry to be ignorant here!!!) do you mean a M & T group?

reallyshy · 18/10/2004 21:33

yes...it's a m + T group. I haven't been yet as I heard it gets very busy so have never plucked up the courage to go.

MummyToSteven · 18/10/2004 21:36

oh well, can't go to that M & T for the next few weeks as I do baby massage in Everton on Friday mornings. If you can get to Smithdown Road there is a quite a nice m & t group at the frontline centre.

how old is/are your little one(s) really shy?

fastasleep · 18/10/2004 21:39

Coffee sounds good, an excuse to go into the city centre sounds even better teehee.. although I have no money at all and I'd be depressed...

(I'd be the one standing outside Dolce and Gabbanna/Faith in my yucky tracky staring whistfully inside with my nose pressed against the glass...)

I have no idea what happens at the leisure centre! I was just going for a swim tomorrow evening to check it out... never been. I'll get a leaflet and have a look for cafes etc, but round here is pretty cheap and skanky! Reallyshy if you ever fancy going for a swim or something (dunno when mum & baby times are yet) then feel free to email me [email protected]

reallyshy · 18/10/2004 21:49

my dd is 2 and ds is 10 months. My little girl is great.....but little boy troble with a beautiful smile!! He is into everything....he can crawl now, so keeps making a bid for freedom to the front door. Also, he has a funny little habit of shaking his head saying no. Looks very funny...and cute, bless!!!! I'm 27 and married...and thats my life.

I wish I could push myself to go to mums groups as I have no friends and am lonely, but I am not confident enough.

fastasleep · 18/10/2004 22:01

Aww reallyshy, I felt like that too, right up until a few days ago when I decided that I was going to go insane if I stayed in the house with just almost 8 month old Theo for company....

mishi9123 · 19/10/2004 00:26

hi all
welcome to fastasleep and really shy
my names mishi and i am 26 from huyton. have ds adam who was one last week.
I can understand ur worry about meeting etc really shy as i suffer from depression and anxiety...think i end up jabbering away to try and over compensate for it tbh. I also tend to hide behind my son as i dont feel stupid when i talk about things to do with him....the idea of going out alone without him petrifies me so I tend to stick to mums n tots groups as the other bonus is your little one always provides you with a great excuse to leave..lol
Anyway i look forward to getting to know u both
take care

fastasleep · 19/10/2004 07:20

We should have a shy mums club! It might be a bit boring with me and reallyshy sitting with our mouths clamped shut in the corner....we'd need mishi to liven it up with the jabbering
