Hello all - I will be at Wavy Davey's on Friday at the 10am session so hope to see some of you there.

Enjoy the book club.

bebby · 14/09/2004 19:48

Hiya gang, glad to hear you enjoyed the night out, eyelash getting a good sleep at your stage of pregnancy is a miracle .

Bron42, thanks for speaking to Ann at the book club, I will get the book and be ready for the 29th, really looking forward to it, since leaving uni (8 years ago, graduate in english lit) I have really missed discussing books. I am toying with the idea of taking up a Masters but funding is a problem , so the book club will hopefully fill the gap, hurrah!

I hope to meet you all a bit more often when I am working job share, I am going to sign off now and try and set up my hotmail address, as I can't rely on e-mail at work forever! Mrs Waddle, I will contact you once the e-mail is set up and arrange a lift to the book club if you need it, mummy2steven, if you would like me to pick you up also please let me know. Take care, and have fun at Wavy Davies .

mummytosteven · 14/09/2004 19:55

Hi everyone. I must confess that I have forgotten where Wavy Davy's is!!!The book club is just round the corner from me, so no need for a lift, but thanks very much for the offer.

eyelash · 15/09/2004 12:26

Gymtots/Wavy Davy's is at the Park Road Leisure Centre on Park Road. So maybe see you there.

mummytosteven · 15/09/2004 12:28

hi eyelash, will aim to see you there - think 10.00 a.m. is a bit optimistic for me does it carry on till 12?

alliwannado · 15/09/2004 20:58

gym tots i think is a one hour session, they have 10 til 11 on Friday and i think 11-12 too, but otherwise its one hour on monday and Wednesdays.......... Beth enjoyed it but i do feel its best suited for at least 18mths+ (or even 2)......because of the equipment.
im trying 'frontline' in wavertree, mother and tots on friday 10 til 12am, Ill let you know what its like.

OP posts:
mummytosteven · 15/09/2004 21:01

eyelash - think alliw is probably right - that steven is a bit too little for gymtots atm - he's only just starting to get mobile - wriggling/rolling, not crawling yet. Would you/anyone else going along like to meet for a coffee afterwards, maybe? Do they have a cafe there?

eyelash · 16/09/2004 06:23

Unfortunately I cannot make tomorrow in any case as dh needs car. But am up for a meet-up in the park or elsewhere if anybody is free next week - mondat or wednesday are best at the moment.

Hope you all have a nice weekend.

bron42 · 16/09/2004 14:22

Am also car-less in the morning so will have to give Wavy-Davy's a miss.
Eyelash - not free Mon/Wed due to work. Will try to make Park Rd next Friday for 10am. Anyone else free then to go?
Alli- let me know how frontline is now that DD has started school, feel that DS (20mths) needs to meet more children. Any other groups on a Tues/Thurs/Fri that people would recommend? The only one I currently go to is Mother/toddler Thurs 1.30-3.00pm at Dovedale Baptist(or methodist!1) church. Anyone, fancy that at some point in the future?
Will be starting Anne Tyler tonight as finished "The Amber spyglass" last night. Amazing book!
Will look forward to meeting Mrs Waddle at the book club for the first time and seeing Bebby/MummytoSteven again.Eyelash, how are you feeling?

mrswaddle · 16/09/2004 15:57

Hey I read the Philiip Pullman series as well recently and thought it was fantastic. I was completely hooked and whizzed through all three books in no time at all. Anyone looking for a fantastic read that keeps you up all night dying to see what happens next - those books are just the ticket!!!

I guess I'm gonna have to get used to being up all night for a different reason eh???

Looking forward to meeting you all at the book club too

alliwannado · 17/09/2004 22:57

'frontline' sticky fingers was excellent, fully recommend it, give it a try if you can. great place, you can only go one day a week, think its a busy place and sometimes they have a waiting list. £1 for 2hrs, drink and toast, play/songs and crafts! Thursdays or fridays 10am til 12pm, let me know if anyone fancies joining me next Friday.

bron42 · 21/09/2004 16:45

Alliwannado - have my mum up here for the week so will enjoy the help at home. But am up for visiting frontline Friday 1st OCt. Do you have to book a place or can we just turn up?
Mrs Waddle - glad you too found the P.Pullman so enthralling. I was blown away by Northern lights, but then was slightly disappointed with The Subtle knife but The Amber Spyglass was totally amazing. Cannot imagine how you go about writing such imaginative yet plausable books?
See you next Wednesday at the BOok club. Am not hooked yet with the book.!

alliwannado · 23/09/2004 11:53

Hi Bron, don't have to book but if it gets really busy they start a waiting list, ok for now I think. Im going tomorrow, look forward to meeting you on the 1st.

OP posts:
MTS · 23/09/2004 11:56

getting jealous alliw - still in a few months time maybe steven will be ready for the sticky fingers side of things

bron42 - funny you say that about the Northern Lights Trilogy. The Subtle Knife was far and away my favourite of the three. I read the Anne Tyler book on holiday - sort of quite appealing really, but not entirely my thing.

mrswaddle · 27/09/2004 15:35

Hey

Have to say I'm not too enamoured with the Anne Tyler book. It's OK but not really page turning stuff eh?

alliwannado · 28/09/2004 16:24

MTS not long til S will be crawling around. you could still go for the adult company, but its still a lovely environment for S to be in because of sing time/story time etc.
I really look forward to it, keeps B happy and i get to have tea and toast and relax, whereas at home I feel stuck and go round the bend looking at the four walls.......... maybe its just me, sometimes wonder whether Im cut out to be a sahm, its not as I imagined. If i get out just for a few hours a day Im fine and cope well but if I don't go out my little one drives me mad

OP posts:
MTS · 28/09/2004 16:27

oh i always like to go out and get some fresh air too - i don't think the stay at home built needs to be taken too literally. if you liked to go out a lot before kids then it's not really going to change after kids. i will have to see if I can find any library sessions for wednesday or thursday!

bebby · 28/09/2004 17:11

Hiya gang,

Looking forward to the book club, mrs waddle do you still need a lift? If so can you contact me via contact another talker or leave me some details for getting in touch with you?

alliw - don't give yourself a hard time being a sahm is something you work at a bit like a job, except the pay is rubbish .

I start my job share next week if you are free Friday afternoons let me know. I hope to see you all again soon, I think we said at the night out that Tuesday was a good day to meet, alliw, I know you are working that day, any other good days?

Bye for now!

MTS · 29/09/2004 18:02

erm what time is the book club tonight????

mrswaddle · 30/09/2004 10:45

Hi All,

Good to meet you at the book club last night.
It's my last day at work today and them I'm a free woman for 2 months until the baby comes...... so I'll be free for any meet up's you might be having. Bebby has my phone number just in case I can't access as easily.
