Hi,

Got this started 'cos I think the other thread is going to run out before the end of tomorrow.

OP posts:
foxcub · 20/03/2007 14:06

Yeah online, but we had to fill in seperate forms and give them all back to the school...

suejonez · 20/03/2007 14:09

OK so will not be going to lollipop club now as its too late - just heading over to motehrcare cafe instead. Anything to avoid housework!

Eleusis · 20/03/2007 14:29

Sign into your account online and click to review the application. It will tell you what schooll she is in.

Eleusis · 20/03/2007 14:33

And, Foxie, look here

trying2bgood · 20/03/2007 14:47

I did it online but it was so long ago, I have completely forgotten my password etc. Hmm will just wait I think!

heypickme · 20/03/2007 15:13

hi everyone,

I think with schools now a days they send a letter out from the borough, i know this time last year i was waiting to hear if dd got into sons school and the letter came from the borough and yes she got in.

hi to those that i havent already said hello too, sorry i cant keep up with all the new names and people, but it is nice to see how friendly everyone is.

Ele, well done on getting the school of your choice

susie40 · 20/03/2007 15:31

2cute, I started going to the Murray Park group in late '95 and went on and off for most of last year. I found DS got bored if we went every week, so every 2-3 weeks. DS is at Milkshake and loves it.

suejonez · 20/03/2007 16:01

2cute yes Friday is fine for me - I'm around all day if anyone else wans to meet up. Not sure what the weather is going to be like though.

susie40 · 20/03/2007 16:57

Duh, I meant late '05.

foxcub · 20/03/2007 16:58

t2bg - I've forgotten my password to and can't use my old e-mail address either......

foxcub · 20/03/2007 17:01

Oooh just found the letter - DD picked up the post this morning as I was too sick, and she neatly put it away.

She is in!

foxcub · 20/03/2007 17:02

Bunyan - yes please, I'd be interested to know which buggies your mate is flogging!!

bunyanvillas · 20/03/2007 17:13

OK, will find out and get back to you. Congratulations to all on the good school news! Must be a great relief. Am already fretting about it all at this end - and DD is only 2!

bunyanvillas · 20/03/2007 18:06

Foxie - sorry, it turns out there is only the one - a Maclaren double buggy which apparently is rather heavy. It was purchased at an NCT nearly new sale so not sure what condition it is in. Can find out more if you are interested! Are you all feelng a bit better today?

Eleusis · 20/03/2007 20:00

Foxie, I recommend the Maclaren (twin traveller I think it is called). We had one, but have since flogged it. Check that it's a new one because the older ones are a pain to open and close. The Maclaren is the narrowest one (hence goets through most doorways).

However... I must ask.... Do you really ant a twin pram? Wouldn't it be easier to get DD to walk. Or is the other seat for you?

bunyanvillas · 20/03/2007 20:03

Are buggy boards any good?

2Cute · 20/03/2007 21:43

Congrats to Foxi aswell! Did you get my text earlier today?

Susie - I used to take DS to Murray Park early last year.

Ele - Is Thursday a day out for your DD's birthday? If yes, I was going to suggest if you wanted to do something up town like the London Aquarium or Science museum.

2Cute · 20/03/2007 21:46

Bunyan - I think buggy boards are definately good if DC is 2yrs+, beats trying to squeeze double buggies through narrow shopping isles! DS stopped using his push chair at around 2/2.5, I just ended up using it for shopping bags all the time!

xoxo · 21/03/2007 08:27

HI guys - I need some help.
DS got his primary school results yesterday - he does not have a school place! On speaking to admissions I was told that there are 200 extra children to accomodate this year, and told there is a place in a school in Ham/ North Kingston ( 2bus journeys, AWFUL Ofstead report) or Hampton (ditto).
So - we are going to appeal and cause a massive stink.
Has anyone had experience of this? And won?

We cannot betold where we are on a waiting list for the two local schools until after 23 April. I'm going to contact our councillor and MP today.

Does anyone know of a good local private school as a fall back for this year? and how much do they cost?

I spent all day yesterday weeping so today it's going to ba all action! Our DD will be in teh exact position next year so we really need to get DS into a good school as the knock on effect will be disasterous.

Help!!!

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 08:53

hey oxo

sorry to hear about the school problem. i can't offer any advice but when I was veiwing local nurseries they said that they were quite pro-active in helping kids get into the good schools.

have you got anyone like that who can help? isn't ds already in nursery somehere?

sorry, not being much help. hope you get something sorted asap.

hello everyone else. been very busy at work so not much time for MN !

hope everyone's well and staying warm - don't let that sunshine fool ya kids!

btw, Hounslow - not to be put on the list for the next night out eh Quokka LOL!

xoxo · 21/03/2007 09:20

hi paddle. ds is at the nursery to the local school that he did not get in to!!!

Paddlechick666 · 21/03/2007 09:30

bugger!

Eleusis · 21/03/2007 09:52

Oh no, OXO. That is my worst nightmare! If it's an consolation, I think kids on the waiting list often end up getting a week or so into the year.

If I were you, I would not accept the place in Ham or Hampton. Can you tell us what the schools are?

Let's see private schools... There's the Mall School. And I think a St. James is it? Oh, I'm not up on the private schools.

I'm so so sorry. This is so horrible. What a disgrace the system is. How on earth can sending you to a school in Ham support the current green policies of the Lib Dem government in Richmond Borough?

I don't suppose you could hire a nanny who would be qualified to home school while you get on a waiting list?

sfxmum · 21/03/2007 09:54

morning all

congrats to ele & fox and respective dd's well done

sorry oxo about your situations, no experience or advice but i hope it all gets sorted out soon.

we had a nice anniversary yesterday but ended up with no eve childcare for dinner because my sisters cat seems to have gone bonkers and attacked my niece earlier in the day. quite nasty poor kid.

can highly recommend the science museum to entertain children of all ages, lots to keep everyone busy.

trying2bgood · 21/03/2007 09:54

buggy boards are great and it does encourage the older one to walk sooner rather than later! Only prob is that it ain't so great on your back esp if you are short like me!

xoxo - where do you live again? There are quite a few private schools in ealing which are about 2000 a term. Am likely to be in the same position as you as best school in my area is catholic where we stand zero chance! In-laws have offered to pay dd's fees which should certainly make my life more interesting...........
