Had to create a new thread as we've already filled the old one!

2cute, I would love to meet up with you and your ds but I have my NCT coffee this afternoon and once ds has woken up from his nap, I have to go sort out my MIL's bday present.

Are you free next week at all?

OP posts:
quokka · 09/03/2007 11:28

2cute have a friend who does it for me. As mrsr found out last night dh didn't rub ds1's belly with the oil and he woke up screaming at 12:30. I think it helps but you have to rub it in correctly or use it in the bath. Both boys love their belly being rubbed before bed its part of the routine now - i'd be lost without it!

Paddlechav · 09/03/2007 11:35

hi 2cute, thanks for the tip. i've had a look and you can get Vicks Steam Inhalers which do the whole sinus clearing thing.

but they seem more for older children and adults etc.

i've got the olbas oil and karvol plug which release vapours into the room which i think will have to do on that score.

the humidifier is to help her with the dry coughing caused by breathing thru her mouth.

have instructed dh he will have to cough ('scuse the pun!) up for it.

sorry to hear about ds's nightmares, a dreamcatcher deffo worked for my sds. you could tell him it magics the bad dreams away. similar to hula hoops LOL.

jumbo cup of coffee and i am feeling a tad more awake!

Eleusis · 09/03/2007 12:25

It turns out that DS DID get the chicken pox. What a spotty boy I found this morning. So, if anyone wants the pox, you are welcome to get yourselves over to my house in the next day or so.

nopudstilleaster · 09/03/2007 13:58

Been to Richmond & found out that Hugo's has closed. If anyone is interested in running a soft play place (quokka?!) then they're looking.

sfxmum · 09/03/2007 14:19

maybe that is why lollipop is so busy, i think they were quite expensive and hard to find, not that lollipop is very cheap.

dd looking quite poorly today refusing to walk and just wants cuddles, and smearing windows with buttered bread and cheese...apparently

nopudstilleaster · 09/03/2007 14:32

I did find Hugo's expensive but it was a handy place to go to when I was shopping as it was a break for ds as well. Though I did completely ignore their 'you can't eat your own food here' policy!

hope all the little ones who are ill get better soon!

trying2bgood · 09/03/2007 14:35

How was last night?

Cov - no couldn't do last night, as am out tonight so felt bad asking dh to babysit two nights in a row! Despite of course him going off for six weeks this summer leaving me with the kiddies! I am such a pushover!

ComeOVeneer · 09/03/2007 14:37

Blimey if the opportunity arouse for me you wouldn't see me for dust . Getting even one night out atm is proving tricky.

foxcub · 09/03/2007 16:45

MrsR - whats a babymoon?

Feel a lot better today due to pumping excess milk off, rather than trying to feed on my sore nips (sorry if TMI, just be grateful I don't discuss my stitches!)

Even did the school run with DH, so we got to show Monti off - my friend's baby who is now 13 weeks looked so massive next to Monti

Sounds like I missed a good night last night.

Paddlechav - will text you tomorrow

suejonez · 09/03/2007 19:24

Good lord - had another interview offer from someone at Take it Easy magazine. Never heard of it! On that basis will probably say no!

Had a nice time yesterday but can I simperingly request a cheap and cheerful dinner next time (assuming I can attend) I'm stony broke after 3 months with no pay! Burger King would be nice (we can bring our own napkins and cutlery)

Paddlechav · 09/03/2007 19:27

foxie, a babymoon is like a honeymoon only you take the baby to bed not your dh! and you snooze and feed (both of you!) and cuddle and rest and bond and have a lovely time whilst dh waits upon you hand and foot!

dd is really poorly again tonight, am very anxious about her tbh. will keep a close eye tonight - might sleep in her room too.

her nose is so stuffed up and she didn't eat her tea at all. don't think the teeth are helping. her eyes are streaming too altho she seems better in the day she goes downhill by teatime.

i bought the humidifier but it's quite complicated and i don't have the mental capacity to understand how to work it right now!

anyways, i have a few bits n bobs for the fox den which i'll drop onto the doorstep tomorrow. don't want to come in with dd so clearly not well.

sue, not so sure you want to expose ds to this altho it just appears to be a heavy cold so your call on the rugby......

feeling rather vulnerable tonight as grandma's gone home to celebrate their wedding anniversary. i bought them something nice from Paul to have for pud so hope they enjoy that.

Paddlechav · 09/03/2007 19:29

sue, mags like that will often pay a couple of hundred for those sorts of features.

a good friend works on Chat mag if you'd like to flog your story to them i can make a few calls.

get me eh, mover n shaker LOL!

suejonez · 09/03/2007 19:32

Lets decide on the rugby tomorrow Paddle, DS already has a cold with a dry cough but not too snotty (obviously may deteriorate). He was so whingey for the last hour before bed, I could have throttled him! my poor sick boy, such a dreadful mother.

suejonez · 09/03/2007 19:32

how many articles would I have to do a week to give up work, hmmm?

Paddlechav · 09/03/2007 19:34

you could earn a nice living altho you might have to fabricate a few "my fella's dark secret...... he was a zebra and I never noticed" type sensations!

Paddlechav · 09/03/2007 19:35

and change your name to chavjonez of course!

suejonez · 09/03/2007 19:37

listen sweetie - I bought some makeup in Harvey Nicks once no chav for me.. (first and only time I've been in there - I got uncontrollable giggles at the pretentious shop girls and think I have probably been banned for life)

nopudstilleaster · 09/03/2007 20:08

my brother took my mum to lunch at Harvey Nicks once, he offered to pay & practically fainted when he got the bill

foxcub · 09/03/2007 21:19

I was in Harvey Nicks once and an group of Arab women came in - they spent £2,000 on perfume (this was about 15 years ago)

Paddlechav · 10/03/2007 08:14

morning all

well, dd had a pretty good night. she was moaning a bit about 10ish but after that she settled till about 6:30 and seems a great deal brighter today. being in her own bed/room really is her favourite place i think.

phew! thank goodness!

sue, think she's fine for visitors this arvo if you can stand the river of snot!

foxie, am going to drop something on your doorstep a bit later this morning.

suejonez · 10/03/2007 08:29

Ds also has a cold Paddle but I think he's fine for visiting too (what we mean is we cannot stand to be cooped up with sickly children on a Saturday afternoon! )

Will text you later - going to try a quick visit to Tesco and out before 10am - wish me luck...

Paddlechav · 10/03/2007 08:33

lol, exactly!

are you on the same schedule as me then?

just checking what time tesco open as we're off there shortly too.

just paint-proofed the kitchen table - maybe you could bring your "bolt-on" seat for ds? don't know how portable it is....

see you later.

nopudstilleaster · 10/03/2007 08:54

morning all

Paddle - glad dd had a better night and is a bit brighter today! Tbh, can't imagine her as anything but smiling!

Have a free day today as dh is going to his mother's with ds. What to do, what to do...

quokka · 10/03/2007 08:55

I had lunch at HN and openly bf - which threw the waiter and other diners a bit.

SJ I'm sure you will make loads of money with the book that you just have to write! This just proves my point that people are amazed by your story.

ComeOVeneer · 10/03/2007 09:06

Morning all, why is it whenever dh is away the children decide they don't need sleep. I was up twice with ds and they decided it was time for breakfast at 6.15. Yesterday we starteda 5.00am and Thursday was 6.00am. So I am now a tired and cranky mum. Have to go shopping, with kids in tow as we have people over for lunch tomorrow, trip to the garden centre, park etc. I got an email from DH to say he didn't manage to get any of the things on my list from the shops out there, and is too busy today to try again.

Glad your getting (a bit more) back to normal Foxie. I don't think I got ready to get out the house at that time of the morning with a newborn for weeks.
