Hiya

I'm a Bristol mummy too! DS is 9mth old. He's just got his first tooth so have been cooing over that and sad about his gummy little grins going. Am such a soppy mare!

bobalinga · 18/02/2007 09:49

I'm a Bristol mum too.

DD1 is 4, DD2 is 3

I work school hours, any chance of a meet up on the weekend/late afternoon at some point?

bobalinga · 18/02/2007 21:11

wheresthevalium · 25/02/2007 15:43

That sounds great B, how about Porto Lounge, nice coffee/food and games for the kids to play with?

bobalinga · 26/02/2007 16:17

OK Valium. Thats the cafe on the corner near the new health shop?
When do you fancy? I can wheel DD down there and bus back.
After school one day?

OP posts:
wheresthevalium · 27/02/2007 10:35

Yes, that's the one

Any day except Wednesdays would be great around 3.45-4?

Nikki76 · 27/02/2007 22:36

Can I tentatively join in, although totally nervous about meeting in RL!!

wheresthevalium · 28/02/2007 10:09

Fine with me Nikki

Are you local too?

bobalinga · 28/02/2007 12:01

Just looking in me diary....I could do after school (bout 3.45) tomorrow (Thursday 1st) or any afternoon next week although DD is usually very tired Mon and Tues cos she does nursery in the morning.
LOve to meetyou too Nikki. My DD will be 3 next week. She's in a wheelchair.
Do you know where the Porto lounge is?

OP posts:
Nikki76 · 28/02/2007 15:57

I am local. Fishponds....

I can't do tmw as got a drs appt and Fri my Gran is coming up, but can do next week? I know where Porto Lounge is...funny story about that - I swore that I wouldn't go there again after they gave me a burger that was charred on outside and raw inside when I was 10weeks pregs and freaking about well, everything but espec raw meat!! Had a huge row with the guy behind the bar over it and ended up just getting my money back and storming off to the chippy with DH trailing mornfully behind me and starving!! Will make a concession for MNetters though

No worries about wheelchair - I've got a hearing problem myself - although can speak normal and lipread so hope you guys are comfortable with my hearing prob - it does come in handy if you want to check out cute guys at the bar and what they are saying about you....ahhh the good old days

bobalinga · 28/02/2007 16:39

Okies. I'll take number 2 to see Hot Fuzz (he's 13) tomorrow.
Can you sign BSL Nikki? I can hold limited conversations and always need some practice.

Guess we'll order cake then, rather than burgers
I'm free in after school hours any day next week so pick a day. Long as ts not raining lol.
I'm up in Staple Hill so will toddle down the hill with DD.

OP posts:
Nikki76 · 28/02/2007 19:41

Hiya

I can sign but I don't use it - prefer to lipread instead - I come from a hearing family so never felt the need to use it. Do you need to use Makaton with DD? I watch Mr Tumble on the TV with DS and have picked up loads of sign!! I love Mr Tumble....I'm officially sad! lol

bobalinga · 28/02/2007 20:05

I was told to sign with DD but given thats she's mostly blind, has no arm/hamd movement and understands what we say (for a 2-3 yo) it didn't seem worth it!
Also required two hands and I hold her all the time.
I did teach my other kids some sign cos then we could ask basic questions in a noisy place or if I was in a queue and sent them to fetch something I could sign for something else without having to shriek across the supermarket!
Not seen Mr Tumble. Celyn likes the Shiny Show and Balamory because it involves lots of sound. I take her up close to the TV so she can see some things. Its hard to know what she can and can't see cos vision support is hopless here in Bristol and we get no help or input for that.
Argh. Now got the Balamory song in my head.

Actaully, that reminds me of the time we tried to join a baby signing class. They didn't exist when my other 3 were little so I assumed, when I saw the notice, that it was special needs. Went along and horrified all the other mums with DD and discovered it wasn't special needs at all.
Left rather quick!

Nikki76 · 28/02/2007 20:08

I keep singing the theme tune to Miffy to myself as DS loves it!!

Can I ask what condition DD has?

wheresthevalium · 01/03/2007 13:43

Oh heck, I hope your LOs wont mind being 'mothered' a bit. DDs insist that anyone who is a fraction of an inch smaller than them needs to be 'looked after'.

Anyday next week works for me, except Wednesday
