Any mums in the Epping area?

Hi, we're moving to North Weald Bassett in early February.

We have 3 DS's, DS1 is 3, DS2 is 18 months, and DS3 is the newest at only 4 weeks old!

I'm really excited about the move, and looking forward to a bigger house. DH knows the area fairly well, but it's all totally new to me. We were looking at moving to Harlow a few months ago, but unfortunately it fell through. I almost daren't believe it's happening, but we have our date through so it must be!

I was really impressed with Epping and North Weald when we went the other day, it seems a really nice place.

Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks for any replies.

Hi I am in Epping. I think we have posted on a thread together before, are you currently in Romford?

This whole area is lovely, lots of events that happen in the local high street and nice parks and walks in the forest. I could go on but wont bore you just yet! Let me know if you need any recommendations or anything.

BTW I have 1 ds aged 2.

mumatuks · 29/12/2006 23:29

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I remember you from the thread, and you're right, we are in Romford at the moment!

I love the sound of nice parks, and walks in the forest. I'm really fed up of where we are, DS1 has started saying "mummy don't tread in that!" when we're out walking!

I got the impression there was a real sense of community and people were proud of where they came from, a belonging kind of thing. Not like here!

I'd like to hear of any parent / toddler groups. DS2 could really do with something like that. DS1 will be entitled to his 5 mornings a week at a playgroup / pre-school come January. DS3 is just happy with his milk and naps!

Thanks again for replying.

I moved here from Enfield and really notice the difference in how people care about their environment.

I go to a messy play session on fridays in a local church hall, and I know there are other sessions on different days. I have a met lots of mums there. Somewhere I have a handout from the HV with a list of all the local toddler groups on so I will dig it out and post the details. I work part time so dont do a lot of what is on offer, but there is more around.

Everyone is really fiendly here, I have lived here 3 years and know the people in the coffee shop, newsagent and dry cleaners by name. If you can stomach them there are a couple of good soft play centres, but I know they arent for everyone!

If you are going to be North Weald there is a lovely organic farm and farm shop there. At the back of the shop there are sheep and pigs etc and a few playground bits with some farm walks and no entrance fee.

I sound like Im being paid by Essex tourist board now dont I!?

mumatuks · 30/12/2006 17:56

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, I had to sort out DS2 last night who is a poor sleeper and decided to wake up as DH and I were getting ready for bed!

Today has been madness as we've started the process of clearing stuff we don't need.

The things you've told me sound great. I noticed the farm shop as we drove out (seemingly we were going the wrong way, but I now know where the farm shop is)

I'm so excited but also dreading the packing and unpacking. I really want to go back and see the house again. I'm wondering now if the curtains will fit etc.

Maybe when we're settled we'll have to meet up or something?
Thanks for all the info.

I certinaly dont envy you moving with 3 ds's! I hope someone is having them for you on the moving day.

the whole process of moving is a real pain isnt it, at least once you have exchanged you can relax and know that nothing can go wrong.

What you need now is for the tube line to reopen during the week to North Weald and watch your house price rise!

Yeah let me know when you are settled and we could meet for a coffee.

sarahkent85 · 01/02/2007 21:01

KezzaG · 02/02/2007 20:32

Hi Sarah, I just checked this to see how Mumatuks was getting on, and see there is one more of us.

I used to live in Kent too, where were you? I was in Chatham (Im not a chav though honest.....if you know Chatham you will know why I have to explain that!)

sarahkent85 · 02/02/2007 20:35

OMG!!!!!!!!! LOL im from rochester hahaha!!!
got our own medway group moving away to essex going on LOL!!! what a small world!!

KezzaG · 02/02/2007 20:40

how weird, do you reckon we know each other?Actually did you say you were 21? I am nearly 35 so highly unlikely we do.

We should wait til Mumatuks comes back on organise a coffee one morning.

I love Rochester, it is one of the few places I would consider living if i ever had to move back.

sarahkent85 · 02/02/2007 20:49

yeh that sounds good to me!

i miss rochester but its getting worse there now though, i go back every 6 weeks when its my sons half term from school to see my mum and mates. i was tempted to rent a place as before he started school i was going there so often but i dont go as often anymore. i definately prefer it here. if i could bring my family and friends then id be more than happy.
how long ago did you move? do you prefer epping? we probably dont know eachother but we might know some of the same people and we have probably walked past eachother before lol. i used to go shopping in chatham and bluewater lots!!

babyboo1and2 · 02/02/2007 20:50

thought i would say hello as most other threads i look at have people who have been chatting/meeting up for ages and i always feel like an intruder if i post on them

i live near to epping and have 2 kids, a ds 8yrs and a dd 14 mths, have just looked up your profiles and realised i am older than all of you - 36!

sarahkent85 · 03/02/2007 09:08

im the baby here lol.

but i dont mind aslong as none of you mind :D

babyboo1and2 · 04/02/2007 15:19

i keep waiting for the checkout assistants to ask for id when i buy drink but sadly doesnt happen any more

i pop into epping most weekends for tesco shop while my ds is at ji-jitsu

KezzaG · 04/02/2007 19:33

Hi all. Isnt it strange to think we might have walked past each other in Tesco and never knew it.

Have you all had a nice weekend? I went to see Mamma Mia for the 3rd time, I love it so much. I didnt check the tube first though and only found out there was no central line after Woodford when I actually arrived there, so I had to get on the bus and it took me 2.5 hours to get to Leicester Square. What a pain!

babyboo1and2 · 04/02/2007 20:35

kezza - if you want to notice me in tesco i'll be the mum constantly calling out for her son as he keeps wandering off

weekend has been ok, went for a stroll in the forest since the weather was so nice on saturday

i never thought musicals were my thing until i went to see one about 2 years back but i loved it, havent seen mama mia but since its your 3rd time im assuming you like it!

sarah - i pop to ongar once a week it seems really nice there - a village feel to it

i work mon and tues so i should go now and start getting ready for it

sarahkent85 · 05/02/2007 09:35

hey all,

my weekend has been ok, didnt do too much really just shopping, saturday i had a few presents to get so went shopping to get them then came home and we just played with the kids and went for a little walk around the villiage, and sunday we had to go food shopping then my son had a party so had to take him there. glad everyone had a good weekend! omg didnt saturday feel like summer!! it was gorgeous!!!
ive caught my partners cold cough, headaches and sore throat now and my youngest has chicken pox so not a great start to the week but hey!babyboo1and2 - i live in toot hill in ongar which is a small villiage in ongar, i tend to go into ongar once a week thoug just to sainsburys and a little look around

babyboo1and2 · 08/02/2007 19:49

hello all

kept my son home from school today as i hate driving in snow, he spent half the day out the garden in it all, we went for a walk to the local shops but my dd (15 months) hated it and i ended up carrying her all the way there and back

sarah - my dd got chickenpox at 8 months - she had so many scars on her face afterwards but they have all gone completely now - how is your little one doing with it?

what have everyone been up to ?

KezzaG · 08/02/2007 21:13

Hi. Loving the snow today. I kind of overplayed the severity to my boss (who is in America so has to take my word for it) and told her I couldnt get ds to nursery, so we had a lovely day in the snow.

It took about half an hour to do a 200 yard walk to the high street to buy a sledge! Felt like I'd been on an Artic expedition by the time I got there. The cue for sledges was out of the door so I dont think you were the only one not doing the school run today babyboo!

I hope everyone is well again in your house Sarah, doesnt sound like much fun.

sarahkent85 · 09/02/2007 10:04

The snow was brilliant,
my sons school bus rang at 7am saying it wasnt running so i assume the school wasnt open yesterday, anyway i didnt take him in we all just had a day in the snow building snowmen etc, its the first year my daughter seen the snow properly and been able to play in it (22mths) ive never seen her so happy and quiet lol.

i have been so ill today, what is it with my family its one thing after another but suddenly i feel better im hoping ill stay better as me and partner due to go out tonight for a meal or something, got babysitter coming at 7:30!

harmany is so much better, i was so worried cause the other night she kept on screwaming and was sick, i was worried it was meningitous i panicked liek anything but she back to her normal happy self now so im happy. finally all my 3 are happy and well :d

how are you all??? any plans for the weekend??? x

Mumatuks · 12/02/2007 10:10

sarahkent85 · 14/02/2007 15:49

was lovely meeting you and your daughter too!!

i havnt emailed my email yet as ive not had the time. i will do it today for definate.

i realised when i was walking back the bus that passes your house is the bus that stops directly opposite my house!! so its a bit easier and good to know!! lol

KezzaG · 14/02/2007 19:21

Hi Mumatuks, how did the move go? Are you happy you have done the right thing or are you just noticing things in the house you didnt spot before? I did this, and when I moved in I started to notice that the decoration was done very badly, there were holes in the floorboards etc. Funny what you miss when you are excited about moving!

Id love to see if we could all do an Epping meet up. My days are quite limited though and I can really only do Fridays or weekends, what about everyone else?

(Unless we are talking mums only and a nice glass of vino )

sarahkent85 · 14/02/2007 19:43
