Any mums in the Epping area?

Hi, we're moving to North Weald Bassett in early February.

We have 3 DS's, DS1 is 3, DS2 is 18 months, and DS3 is the newest at only 4 weeks old!

I'm really excited about the move, and looking forward to a bigger house. DH knows the area fairly well, but it's all totally new to me. We were looking at moving to Harlow a few months ago, but unfortunately it fell through. I almost daren't believe it's happening, but we have our date through so it must be!

I was really impressed with Epping and North Weald when we went the other day, it seems a really nice place.

Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks for any replies.

I am now going to be looking strangely at any mum in the park!! If you do make it and we dont hate each other on site maybe we could have coffee afterwards

babyboo1and2 · 18/02/2007 13:19

i will try to make it as well if thats ok...dont know where the park is though...have you got basic directions?

KezzaG · 18/02/2007 13:52

Oooh how exciting. You come out of Epping High St towards Harlow so the civic buildings are on your left and Belgique is on your right. Go past the green on your left and just as you get past the green there is a turning on the right called Stonnards Hill. go up there and it is about 100 yards up on the left hand side.

I have brown hair and will no doubt be repeating " Daniel no" or "Daniel this way" as only mums of 2 yo do!

sarahkent85 · 18/02/2007 18:27

hey everyone!!

i might pop along too if ok?? ill bring my 2 youngest as my eldest will be at school :D

KezzaG · 19/02/2007 11:39

Morning. I just wanted to tell you about a garden centre I went to Sunday. It is the Van Hagh garden centre in Ware, about 12 miles from Epping. I actually went to look at bulbs (god I am old!) but they also have a small animal area with goats, chicken, rabbits etc and a outdoor playgroud. The play stuff is actually for sale and you are supposed to use it to try before you buy, but of course it was swarming with kids playing on swings and slides. and finally, there is a minature steam railway which is 70p per ride. Me and ds spent 2 hours just wandering around and had a great morning out.

It is well worth a visit, you might even get to look at some garden related stuff but I didnt

babyboo1and2 · 20/02/2007 19:58

hello everyone

i am meeting a friend who lives in epping friday morning so i hope you dont mind that ive invited her along too

i have midlength hair and my dd is called katelyn, my friend has very short hair and her dd is called ellie

that garden centre sounds great, i love wandering around them so hopefully ill get details from you when we meet up

i havent seen the weather forecast for friday but what are we going to do if its raining, are we just not turning up or should we let each other know via here by a certain time that morning

looking forward to friday!

sarahkent85 · 20/02/2007 23:08

ive invited a friend along too. she is a nanny she is bringing the little boy she nannies for too. :d looks like the park will be packed :d lol

KezzaG · 21/02/2007 10:24

Good point about the weather. I have checked on BBc weather website and it does say it might rain. I need to get out of the house and do something anyway even if it is wet so we could meet in one of the coffee shops? Cafe Nero is nearer the park and quite big (my ds never sits still in them) so we could say we will meet in there if it is raining, and then if it clears up or we want to brave the rain we can go out anyway.

sarahkent85 · 22/02/2007 22:37

hey all,

just wondering if tomorrow is still going ahead? the weather seems like its going to be downhill tomorrow but never can tell! would be nice to meet up.
sarah

KezzaG · 23/02/2007 08:34

Hi

it has been raining here but is not now. Assuming it is not raining at 10 I am getting the wellies out and going to the park. I have to stay in all afternoon to wait for british gas so I have to get some fresh air at some point.

sarahkent85 · 23/02/2007 08:42

ok well i will see you there, mumatuks is coming too and as far as i know my friend emma is coming.

sarah

babyboo1and2 · 23/02/2007 20:56

it was good to meet everyone today, shame about the weather but nice to put a face to the names

i shot off with my friend as the girls were getting tired and needed feeding

perhaps we could meet up indoors some time - i know epping has a kids corner but havent been there so dont know if it is ok

kezza you mentioned a messy play group on fridays a little while back - what sort of activities does it do? what are its times and do you know if there is a waiting list (assumming kate is old enough to go - shes 12 mths)

KezzaG · 23/02/2007 21:05

Hi, was funny to see people, no one looked like I expected!

The messy play is on a Friday 10am til 11.45 at St Johns Church Hall at the top of St JOhns Road just off the High St)

It has different tables with activities - painting, jigsaws, playdough etc, and then there is snack time which is provided (but take a drink), then some soft play followed by a story and songs. I went for about 18 months and ds loved it. there is no waiting list, just turn up.

The only thing I would say is that the lady that runs it is quite regimented and everyone is expected to help clear up and stuff. I have just stopped going as ds was getting a bit old and wasnt sitting down for the story anymore, but she has quite a few new people there with little girls so you will definately be in good company.

Went to kids corner this afternoon actually. I think its quite expensive (£4.95 this afternoon) but its quite good. The toddler area is ok, but there is quite a big jump up to the bigger section. I wouldnt let ds in there on his own so be prepared to do lots of climbing! Outside area is v good though.

IMO the best softplay round here is Mamabellis in Harlow. The food is good too so nicer if you are planning on eating there, and easier to keep an eye on your kids.

Have a good weekend everyone.

sarahkent85 · 24/02/2007 15:42

hey everyone,

was lovely meeting you all!!

a few of us are going to start doin weekly visits to the play area in harlow either that or myabve 1 week kids korner 1 week the one in harlow if you are interested. would be nice to get a good regular group going.

i was surprised i could go friday as my son was off school but my partner had him for me and i just had the girls with me. sky loved the park, living where we live sounds silly but we dont have a park so she really enjoyed herself lol. she is more used going shopping indoor play areas or farms than parks. definately have to go more in the summer i think!!! i really do need to get some wellies lol.

glittermonster · 24/02/2007 17:50

Hi ladies - I had registered with this site so just reactived it and i'm here

I'm Emma, nanny to Max - the little on in the buggy who isn't quite walking yet.

Lovely to "meet" you all - sorry we had to run off!

I'd love to be part of something more regular - definately.. not sure what times we could do weekly at the moment as mornings are all looking a bit full but we'll work something out I'm sure!

Hope to see you all soon,

PS - I work mon, tues and fri so if anyone is at a loose end send me a message and we'll meet up!

Mauve · 21/08/2007 18:38

Mauve · 19/10/2007 16:30

Hello!

I moved from Strood a few years ago now, but I was there for a long time...a Chapter girl! I live quite central to Ongar. I visit Strood every now and then to see some friends and family. I am 35 now. How old are you? Would we know each other? Sx

sarahkent85 · 03/11/2007 20:33

hi mauve,

oooh im a chapter girly to lol but im 22! i go to strood every 2/3 months. i like going back but could never move back, what made you move to ongar? i used to live near the water lily chinese take away in strood!

Mauve · 07/11/2007 17:28

Hi Sarahkent.

I think I might have missed you at Chapter by a couple of years!
I moved to Ongar with my husband who came from Brentwood. How about you? What bought you to the area?
I lived near the Coach and Horses in Strood.

sarahkent85 · 07/11/2007 20:41

ah you was on the other end of strood to me! i moved here cause of my partner, he didnt like kent and i thought for the kids future it was better to move here. schools seemed good etc andi do really like it here! dont think i could move back. would you move back? your daughter is the same age as my youngest

Mauve · 08/11/2007 18:20

I really like it here as well. It's a much nicer place to be with children. The only time it is a pain is when I want a night out and a taxi home costs about £30! I wouldn't want to move back to Strood....no way! How3 many kids do you have?
