Not from Solihull, but parents in law live there so visit (Dorridge)
WOuld be useful to have the lowdown on where to take the grandparents & kids for when we visit
i.e. pubs with play areas/ parks/ soft play etc

jampot · 22/05/2004 13:28

Shopaholic - I applied for my dd (11) to sit the entrance test at St Martins just in case we didn't get into that lovely school in Knowle!!! But we did and we don't even live in catchment

Do you live in central Solihull?

jampot · 22/05/2004 13:34

Mo2 - Jobs Close Park in Knowle is nice. The Black Boy on Warwick Road (heading out of Knowle towards Warwick is a great family pub on the canal with play area and good choice of food - gets very very busy in the summer though. Herons Nest also very nice on canal - no play area though. There is The Royal Oak on the Stratford Road just out of Hockley Heath with soft play (don't rate the food though

hi ladies how r u all keeping?tc

Ronniebaby · 30/05/2004 19:05

Hiya Ladies. I live on Tamworth, it aint a million miles away, and my outlaws live in Solihull, right by the Fire Station, so we are there quite a lot.

I normally work MWF, so tues or thurs are my best days.

Is there a meet up planned yet, if not any ideas????

jampot · 30/05/2004 20:14

Anyone fancy an evening meet up in Solihull - maybe grab a bite to eat in Touchwood? We shouldn't have to worry about work days etc.

Ronniebaby · 30/05/2004 23:17

Jampot, now that sounds like a marvellous Idea.

I just cant do thursday nights as it is DH's lads night and really the only night he goes out alone.

Ronniebaby · 30/05/2004 23:18

Meet the mums first, with out the worry of what our kids are doing, or bring the kids and keep them out a little later.

I'm up for either, DS is allowed to stay up late occasionally.

jampot · 30/05/2004 23:20

Either really Ronnie - I live just 5 minutes away and am happy to bring them - I'll go with the flow as it were!

MadameButterfly · 30/05/2004 23:21

I like the sound of a meet without kids, but may need to bring DD if DP is not home in time to look after her.

Ronniebaby · 30/05/2004 23:22

Me too, now we just need some of the others to make a decision.

Jampot if you have MSN Messenger or Yahoo messenger let me know, and we could chat tooo

jampot · 30/05/2004 23:42

ronnie - I will send my hotmail address via email

Ronniebaby · 07/06/2004 15:10

Anymore takers, or Ideas on this meet up????

shopaholic · 07/06/2004 15:17

jampot - have not been on this thread lately as been on holiday (lucky me!). I assume you mean Arden (you lucky thing). School fees costing arm and leg right now.(sad). How old are your children?

OP posts:
shopaholic · 07/06/2004 15:25

Not sure I like the idea of meeting up and like anonymity. I say things on MN that I are quite personal and have had useful advice on emotional issues from MNetters. Meeting in person would make it all different. Nothing personal as you are all GREAT!

OP posts:
jampot · 07/06/2004 15:51

My kids are 11 and 7 - am so glad I'm not paying fees. What's your view of St Martins?

jampot · 07/06/2004 15:58

Shopaholic - it's not a problem if you don't want to meet up I can understand your point - I'd be horrified if I went to a meet and actually knew someone. I'm thinking of getting tech to delete all my posts!!!

Ronniebaby · 07/06/2004 16:05

Ladies Ladies

Just change your sign on name, I have in the past, if I've wanted to post but didnt want people I know knowing. This way no-one has to know who you are. The amount of posts I've made NOT as RB is outstanding.

I once was Snowball at xmas time, not used it since.

As to the meet up, its a chance you take, I love meet ups, as you can put names to faces etc. Also I have made really good friends (one being Madamebutterfly), and now when I chat either on here or MSN/Yahoo messenger, we feel like we know each other. Leave it up to you
