Here's the general chit-chat thread for October

Synopsis please on what I've missed last week! Too pre-occupied for various reasons to wade through all threads. Thanks

2cute I probably would have walked out of that nursery too! Where ds is (and he's loving it) if one of the little ones jumps the queue he/she gets gently led back to his 'proper' place and explained why he has to wait! Saying that when I got there this morning one of the older ones was lying screaming on the floor having a bit of a bad morning tantrum and the staff just left him to it, so that he can get it out of his system - by order of mum

All this talking on here about hair etc. makes me think about booking myself in at the hairdresser/beautician etc to look good for the xmas do LOL especially after dh's loving remark last night that more and more of my hairs seem to be adopting a grey tinge!

i wanna go out and play but am stuck lying on bedroom floor messing with computers!

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 10:35

Afternoon all - You will not believe the effect yesterday's visit to Teddies has had on DS. I told him we were visiting another nursery and he was in tears, did not want to go whereas every other day he has rushed to go. We visited an absolutely lovely nursery... It was perfect in every way and the children were so happy and confident but DS was afraid and would not let go of me. When asked what he was scared of he said "I scared lady give me hurty like baby"! I was talking to the owner of the nursery I visited today and she told me how many other parents had told her about how badly children are treated at Teddies...One ex-Teddies worker said how toddlers were neglected and hurt by staff but head office did nothing about it. I'm reporting them to ofsted and will see what happens.

Paddle - It was the Teddies on March Road (near the railway station) and the lady showing me around was Isabel.

bunyanvillas · 12/10/2006 12:24

2Cute, how awful to read about your nursery experience, that's dreadful. DD goes to Whitton Day Nursery which I think is FAB. It's a one-off ie not part of a chain, and the owner, Margaret, is there every day. DD is really happy there and in general, all the kids there seem v happy.

2Cute · 12/10/2006 12:27

Bunyan - I've heard lovely things about ur DD's nursery

bunyanvillas · 12/10/2006 12:31

It really is good and the children are well looked after with plenty of attention and hugs etc plus good food home cooked on premises each day. She probably gets better food there than she does at home

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 13:01

bunyan ds's nursery is the same, home cooked meals (and yes ds defo gets better nutrition there than at home ), lots of cuddles and attention, but not too molly coddled

Also ds is very popular with the other kids, so when I go and pick him up I regularly get 'ds had a good day' from one of the kids LOL. Actually yesterday I had to drag ds away crying as he ran around to the front door and wanted to go back in! To me that's a good sign isn't it.

DH just told me that he's up for an interview for a great job in Marlow and wondered whether I'd consider moving there if he gets it becaus obviously it'd save on cost for commute and all that. I would love for him to get a great job he likes, but the thought of having to move, look for new nursery/school fills me with dread!

Phew - Just rang ofsted. Feel better that I've done my bit. It's a bit worrying as I got the impression that I'm not the only person to have complained about them

Hope all are well today. Don't talk about grooming, my hair is doing the wild thing at the moment because it hasn't been cut in over a year!

2Cute · 12/10/2006 13:15

BigD - moving is too stressfull stay here with the West London clan!

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 13:35

Oh you can bet your 'bottom dollar' that I want to stay with the West London Clan

Told dh he could always finally do his bl**dy drivers licence and drive to Marlow in a jiffy up the A40!

WiFiWhizzJustCallMeaGeek · 12/10/2006 13:52

hi 2cute, your poor ds. hope he gets over the whole situation quickly. am sure he will be fine when he finally starts the right nursery.

i am going to phone teddies back later today to say why we won't be going for a visit. the march road one was exactly the one we were thinking about it.

where abouts is Teddington for you? dh viewed Asquith there and loved it. they have vacancies (for babies at least) and their price is on a par with Teddies.

dd would've gone there but for the nanny. good job we didn't as dh's job offer is based in richmond.

which, actually he hasn't accepted yet! he is seeing the md again tomorrow to discuss further. i do not and probably never will understand men but in particular my husband!!!1

BigD I have moved 3 times since April 2005. the best advice i can offer is "don't" the 2nd best advice i can offer is "use a good removal service" the 3rd best advice i can offer is "if you're going to do it then do it now before they start school and have to chop and change.

my final advice is "if you're gonna do it then do it properly and get yourselves to Aus. It knocks spots off Marlow"!!!!! altho there's always Henley and the Regatta to enjoy!

oops - tele conf, must go do some work!

Nanou1 · 12/10/2006 13:58

Where is bloody Marlow then?! you can go MrsBigD.... you just can't do that!!!!! maybe your dh could get a bike?!

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 13:59

Good tips Geek as for the move to Oz... that's on hold atm as dh is on 'probation' after our last spat

OP posts:
Nanou1 · 12/10/2006 13:59

2Cute... well done for doing your bit for society and [hmmm] your hair looks fab!!!!

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 14:03

Nanou1, hmmm yes dh could get a motor bike as he has a licence for that. Marlow is sort of a bit South of High Wycombe

OP posts:
WiFiWhizzJustCallMeaGeek · 12/10/2006 14:06

i know nanou, 2cute's hair is amazing isn't it?!

marlow is up the a40(ish) towards the good old home counties of Ox Bucks and Berks. Not too far from Henley on Thames famous for it's annual Royal Regatta which involves lots of rowing and champagne and strawberries.

surely it's commutable from Ealing isn't it? some way or another...............

ah, conf-call has come to life...........

Nanou1 · 12/10/2006 14:13

hi wifi! . dh loves going to work by bike! freedom and all that . it might give some sort of thrill to your dh and be his "me-time" iyswim.

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 17:37

OP posts:
backtoxoxoxo · 12/10/2006 17:57

something dark to hide baby spit
high heels to make you feel confident
tie hair back - won't matter if bad hair day/ needs washing
and ... a big, confident smile - make them want to spend all day with you, and pay you loads

MrsBigD · 12/10/2006 18:00

thanks xoxoxox my hair is so straight I always have bad hair days LOL. Will get changed after kids are in school/nursery so won't have to worry about baby spit ;). Confident smile no issue, high heels however... a) don't have any and b) can't walk in them anymore

OP posts:
backtoxoxoxo · 12/10/2006 18:02

Oh well - what ever makes you feel sexy then
sexy = confident

If no heels then silk undies or fab shirt

pudding77 · 12/10/2006 18:31

Congratulations on the interview, and good luck!

By the way, does anyone know how I can persuade an 8 month old he needs more than 2 hours of sleep in the day? I'm exhausted!

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 12/10/2006 18:41

MrsBigD - and a bit of makeup if it makes you feel good. Top tip - wear something you love and feel confident in.

By the way - no you can't move - we need you here M'dear

2Cute - well done, I'm really glad you reported them to Ofsted. Makes me upset to think of those poor LOs in there though

Wizi - love the new name. Shirking from home already eh? Must be a good job

2cte - can't wait to see your hair next Thursday
