Sue - The Pagoda Practice in Pagoda Ave. Do you go to the one in Kew Gardens Road?

Uwila - here, here!

MrsBigD - I'm still on for 19th Don't think anyone has booked it yet.

Yanks could you pop round there and book it maybe?

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 13:33

Am pulling a sickie today

No I'm with North Road practice, problem is there's one GP I love, one I absolutely detest and the rest seem OK. But of course these days you don;t seem to be able to choose who you see ^^

fatfox · 05/10/2006 13:42

Sue - I went to one of the North Road GPs once and he was absolutely appalling - very, very rude and patronising. He refused to look me in the eye the entire time I was there. I had breast thrush (imagine burning fire each time you try and BF if you can). He snapped at me "BFing is supposed to hurt!", all the while refusing to make eye contact. Can't remember his name but he had the social skills of Gordon Brown

I'm at work but going home at 2pm to work from home. Really glad I came in as its cherred meup a bit.

I was interviewing someone for a job last year and she said "I had to pull a sickie, to be able to come to the interview today"!? I was so impressed with her honesty I appointed her (she's great)

bunyanvillas · 05/10/2006 13:44

I'm up for the 19th. Finally going to make one of the meet ups

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 16:08

one of the GP's at north road did my adoption medical and sighed half way through the medical and said (very condescendingly) "what ARE you going to do with the child when you go back to work?". Same as you do condescending bitch! She has children! Does she think its OK to use child care if you're married but not if you're single. She then added a comment to the bottom of the medical AFTER I'D LEFT saying she recommended a second opinion becasue she didn't know me!!!

Reading between the lines I took that to mean that she didn't approve of the adoption but couldn't come up with a specific medical complaint eg my weight. Delayed my panel hearing two months, getting a second opinion from someone else in the practice who also didn't know me. The medical advisor to the panel rang up the second GP and told him that he wasn't interested in their opinion of me or my ability to parent just whether I was medically fit. Which they had to concede I was.

Can you tell I still get angry about it?

sfxmum · 05/10/2006 16:15

sorry about the bad experiences at the North road surgery i have always found really good GP nurse and receptionists maybe i just keep getting them on good days

quokka · 05/10/2006 16:53

I'm so shocked SJ thats terrible! Are you around tomorrow morning, might pop into Kew retail while ds1 is at nursery?

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:06

Yes Quokka can arrange to be around (coffee?) what time? I'm going to IKEA but can fit it in any time.

sfxmum - Dr Houghton (SP?) is lovely, won't name my nemesis! Only seen the nurse once and she seems very nice. Receptionists seem to vary between v nice and v stroppy (but to be fair so do I!). When I mentioned my story to a fellow adopter she nodded sagely and said - yes that would be Dr X - she hates fat people . Have no idea whether it's true or not but it's not like fatness is catching, I don't give people "passive eating" or Eating Transmitted Diseases (ETD's )!

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:08

really sue? i hope it's not my GP (also at north rd) because i adore her! but i think there are only two women there aren't there..?

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:09

fatfox, was it dr beales? quite sweet i find, but not the best people person i have found

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:09

Think there are three Tutter, have no doubt she's a perfectly competent GP and of course you're not fat so you should be fine

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:11

think it must be someone else because i can't imagone her being mean to anyone.

ff - maybe it was the beardy locum you saw...

sfxmum · 05/10/2006 17:13

that doctor is probably very miserable starving herself into thiness, nasty moo.
the HV is ok but a bit too cheerful for me, dd has not seen her since she was 6m, now 16m

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:13

I also described Dr Beales (are we allowed to name names - he might be lurking....) to someone as sweet but wet, though to be fair to him, he seems fine. Someone else I know said when you get to know him he is a fantastic GP and very bright.

I think what upset me most was her comment written after I'd left, I beleive that she thought I was too fat to parent a child but that isn't actually a medical complaint. She specifically told me the panel would have a problem with my weight - I knew they wouldn't as I'd already discussed with my social worker in advance.

Of course it's not ideal but if they're going to wait for ideal parents, there wouldn't be many adopters around.

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:15

heck, i had no idea only skinny people were allowed to be parents

my friedn had a crush on dr beales when she was a teenager

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:16

i always worry that i have startled him with my gobshiteness

he's so caaaaallllmmmm

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:21

God I could never have a crush on him even as a hormonal teenager! He is a bit of a cold fish isn;t he? Doesn;t bother me much as I haven't felt the ned to bond with him, Dr Houghton is lurrvely though, like her lots - can I be blunt and ask for her in future d'you think?

TutterIckOrTreat · 05/10/2006 17:24

i always ask to see my fave doc

just say "is dr x working this afternoon?" - i do

have to say i like them all. even scary delores gthe receptionist. she's always been nice to me since they had to call an ambulance for me.

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:27

ah, so you are an exciting patient - no wonder you are popular, they can be all caring and angelic. I am just a pain in the neck patient who is rarely ill, isn't pregnant and has to have blood pressure and cholesterol tested and dull stuff like that.

quokka · 05/10/2006 17:34

SJ is 10ish ok with you?

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 17:35

fine - do you want to meet in M&S cafe or come to me?

MrsBigD · 05/10/2006 18:09

Oy you wrong thread for that! vamoose to daytime thread or general October thread, otherwise I'll get even more confused!!!

OP posts:
quokka · 05/10/2006 19:00

M&S would be good for me, then I only have to park the car once! You sure it's not too early for your day off?

Mrsbigd back to your good old self . I will move over to the other thread now

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/10/2006 23:26

no I'm generally up before then 10 ish is fine (if anyone else wants to meet would be happy to see you). Do you still have my number if there are any problems?
