hello everyone much excitment in the sfx household as dd just started to walktoday!

i am nearly done with work, last day 13/09 it was really awful going back after 1yr maternity leave. i was counting on flexible working but was not allowed, i was really disappoited having been with the same company for ten years but hey.
so cue much stress and 3 months back to fullfil contractual obligations.

new chapter i guess, but scary too

thnaks for indulging me

sfxmum · 23/08/2006 22:33

sorry for shocking spelling too tired been working since saturday most of it on call ( that is my excuse) night all

MrsBigD · 23/08/2006 22:35

congrats on dd walking! isn't it wonderful!!!

As for your work ... that's a shame. Have they got valid reason not to let you do flexible working?

OP posts:
sfxmum · 23/08/2006 22:50

no valid reasons that i could see, only had prelim. talks with line manager and HR, all this despite having flexi working policy, union felt i had a case but i felt its time to move on stay home, study which i wanted to do for some time and try for another baby
lets see how it works out this all 'kept wife' thing is very alien to me, but i guess there are worst things to get used to

MrsBigD · 24/08/2006 07:07

hmmm you could still bring your case and make it a constructive dismissal one with possible payout so being a kept wife would be even nicer

hi, thanks for the welcome, will have a look for the thread later.

doing some "mopping up" moving today coz the removal firm we hired didn't have a big enough van.

that's ebay for you LOL! at least the grandparents are coming up to occupy dd whilst we crack on.

catch ya later
;-)

xoxoxo · 24/08/2006 08:52

welcome newbies. even though I only joined a few days ago I now feel like an old hand!

Re: Dore the explorer - I've sussed you guys out with your posh foreign films and suggest that the following are appropriate storylines for you:

  • Dora does Dallas
  • Diego does Dora (although I admit that boy will grow up to be very handsome - if only he were 20 years older, and not so two dimensional - so true of a lot of men I know) and last - and rudest of all
  • Pussy in Boots (oh, am shocked I said that!!)

Am really quite prudish and polite.

Paddlechick666 · 24/08/2006 09:09

Where can I get my hands on these Dora titles and do they come in brown non-descript envelopes?

Paddlechick666 · 24/08/2006 09:13

Hi SFX

how exciting that your DD is walking, how old is she?

mine is 10 months on Friday and is doing a great deal of standing and shuffling along furniture.

I guess it won't be long before she's off and tottering!

quokka · 24/08/2006 09:17

prudish, yea right! xoxoxo that means kisses and hugs doesn't it?

quokka · 24/08/2006 09:18

Welcome Paddlechick666 as you can see there is alot of banter on here.

sfxmum · 24/08/2006 09:58

good morning all
bored at workso dragging my feet these last few weeks!

hi paddlechick - i am sort of new to this thread very bad at keeping up but promise to do better soon, its alively interesting group from what i can tell.
my dd is a late walker she is nearly 15months but she talks for england

mrsBig - i did consider that but i still want to be able to work for them occasioanlly as an outside assessor or facilitator in training things , so compromise compromise. i really fear burning too many bridges at this time

and btw i am embarrassed at my entry on stats i never said i look 20, in fact i often look at least 50, dh is the one with the annoyingly boyish charm( asked for id at off licence indeed!)

Paddlechick666 · 24/08/2006 10:06

i can't find the Stats thread, am I being very dim?

sfx i kinda wish DD wasn't being so early with her walking as she'll won't be a baby anymore! she doesn't stop nattering either but it's all nonsensical so far - apart from the Dada, Daddy squeal as soon as he shows up!

so far this thread has had me smiling and laughing so am looking forward to joining in!

MrsBigD · 24/08/2006 10:13

fatfox · 24/08/2006 10:46

Hi girls

Just putting my head in quickly as I'm at work.

Welcome to Paddlechicks and Bumpmakes2!!!
sxfMum - congratulations on DD walking - the stress starts here . Our DD walked early (9 months) but is now three and her speach is still completely incomprehensible!

MrsBidD and Quokka - I'll be driving from Ealing Broadway to Sue's on 31st, so shall I take you both and you can get a taxi back together?

MrsBigD · 24/08/2006 10:50

fatfox - offer graciously accepted probably better for the guacamole then a trip on the bus

OP posts:
Uwila · 24/08/2006 10:57

Well, I have claims to lazy baby. Mine is 15 months and still doesn't walk on his own. DH walked at 18 months so I blame him! DS cruises around the table and crawls very quickly. So, sadly this not walking thing does not keep him out of trouble.

MrsBigD · 24/08/2006 11:06

dd took her first steps aged 14 months when she got her measles injection... probably couldn't get away quickly enough from the doctor's surgery

ds started walking at 10 months, probably had enough of being used as pony when he was crawling...

OP posts:
quokka · 24/08/2006 11:22

Thanks ff thats realy kind, I'll cat you

MrsBigD · 24/08/2006 11:28

fatfox you don't accept emails through mn ah well you can contact me through my website link

OP posts:
fatfox · 24/08/2006 12:37

Oh dear, sorry - can anyone remind me how to get back into my registration settings, so I can change it to receive CATs?

Calling all you tekkies out there....

Uwila · 24/08/2006 12:40

I think you start with "your registration" link at top of page, and then somewhere tick a box to allow e-mails.

fatfox · 24/08/2006 12:56

Uwila

Thanks. I think I've changed it now so I can receive CATS

Are CATS e-mails that just get sent to my e-mail address then? Duh?
If so I'll check them when I get home tonight.

I'm at work and really fancy a Lebanese wrap for lunch. yummy
