Hello
I've just joined Mumsnet and found this meeting section which sounds great.
I live in Twickenham near Marble Hill Park, am full time mum with 2 kids, and up for anything that involves getting kids outside/ intellectual conversation , or failing all that anything with coffee and cakes.
Is anyone around?

MrsBigD · 16/08/2006 15:53

xoxoxo what about alcohol and food instead of coffee and cakes?

oh and welcome

I'm trying to keep luggage down (trying to pack for a 9-18 motnh old for a 6 week stay in a foreign country with a single persons weight allowance is challenging!).

I'm planning to take small hard developmental toys (they need to be sterilizable by the orphanage) and small good condition basic clothes like babygrows, socks, tights etc - ages 6months to 2 yrs. They would need to be in v good condition as you can imagine they get washed and worn a lot!

Very happy to take anything like that if you have it to spare, with the proviso that if I don't have room in my luggage, then you can either have back or I will pass on to someone else.

MrsBigD · 16/08/2006 15:56

I'll have a rummage

Welcome xoxoxo! Our next meet-up, which does not involve any children, but does involve adult conversation is at Suejonez's house in Kew on 31 August. The plan is chili and drink. and possible coffee and cakes if Sue ever gets round to telling us who is bringing what.

And of course you are welcome to join us at Kew if we ever pick a date.

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 15:59

hello there; absolutely fine with alcohol and food, but does it have to be instead of coffee and cake? They go so well together...........

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:00

I'm about to have a clearout of 6-12 month babygrows. Do you want them? Cheapo white mothercare variety. Sorry. I spend my money on the daytime clothes.

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:01

xoxoxo, how old are your kids? Mine are 3 and 1.

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 16:05

I'm up for the 31st, depending on time of meeting.
I'm also up for kids playing/ meeting as am at a a loss until school starts in September, and in despair now the Lollypop club is closed (again, anything with coffee and cakes.)

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 16:06

Hi Uwila, my kids are 3 and a half (boy) and girl of 2.
Gorgoeus little balls chock full of energy..... joy.

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:17

So is your boy starting school (nursery?) in september?

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 16:22

Yes he is - pre-school, afternoons only. Can't wait...

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:24

DD starts preschool in Twickenham in the afternoons in Sept as well... Mind if I ask what school?

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 16:27

Orleans Infants

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:30

Nope. Different school. Arch... Cam... for us.

xoxoxo · 16/08/2006 16:41

my friend's dd will be going there afternoons from september. she too is looking forward to september with great affection.

Uwila · 16/08/2006 16:54

Oh cool. I wonder if I know her???? Do they go to the affiliated church?

As for Kew Gardens, anyone interested should go to the thread

fatfox · 16/08/2006 20:19

Uwila Hi

Am deffo still on for Kew Gardens -I'll go to your new thread so we can sort it out.....

Xoxoxo Hi to you too and welcome . I joined Friday so I'm new too. I work but am around on the following dates: 30 August and 1 September. Also free 21 Aug in morning - have my nuchal scan/bloods that afternoon so would be glad of anything to take my mind off it during the morning. We love Marble Hill Park, so if you fancy meeting up there any of those days, that would be great. Or anywhere else local to Richmond/Kew/Twickers/Ham etc.

I have a DS 6 and DD 3. We were at Marble Hill Park yesterday, but its dog eat dog in the fight for a space in the car park isn't it? Are there any handy nearby streets to park in?

DD is also starting her pre-school nursery in September (in Richmond). She regularly announces to people: "I'm three. I'm a big girl. I'm going to nursery in September". She doen't realise its the just start of the slippery slope into school, college and work!

Uwila · 17/08/2006 09:46

We've had a few new joiners on this thread. I'm getting a bit lost with the who's who. So I thought we could use a West London stats thread

Uwila · 17/08/2006 13:49

Hey, can anyone recommend a childminder who might be interested in taking my two lovely kiddies for a week in October -- one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

Nanny is off on hols. So I need a minder for one week sometime in the first two weeks of October.

fatfox · 17/08/2006 20:24

Uwila

There is a lovely child minder called Mary, who I used once for two weeks. She lives on Richmond Hill, charged me £300 per. week for two (same as what I paid mine at the time and average price for here). Its probably too far from you, but if you're stuck I could give her a call.

fatfox · 17/08/2006 20:25

Uwila

PS I could also ask my minder, as she knows loads in her child minder network, but I suspect you proably want someone a bit closer to Sunbury maybe?

fatfox · 17/08/2006 21:08

Hi there, me again

I wasn't planning to come back on here tonight, but am "shitting it" as I have my nuchal tomorrow and am convinced it'll be very worrying new due to my age.

DH convinced it'll all be fine, but I

Can't relax
Can't concentrate
know I won't be able to sleep as I am an insomniac anyway
Can't get drunk for obvious reasons
Can't talk to anyone, 'cos no one knows I'm PG
aaaarrrggghhh

Anyone know any good jokes?

quokka · 17/08/2006 22:09

Poor you fatfox. I'm sure it'l be fine, but try and get some sleep for the baby. Listen to your dh, try to relax and maybe get him to rub your feet (that always worked for me)! Let us know how you get on.

suejonez · 18/08/2006 00:06

Do you want to come over and panic with me fatfox? You can panic about your nuchal and me about my impending travel dates. My office (apart from the MD) don't know that I'm "due" in 6 weeks so I'm having to hyperventilate quietly, though it is easier to disguise a virtual pregnancy (aka adoption) than a real one

Good luck tomorrow.
