It's January and I'm feeling adventurous.....anyone fancy meeting up? Maybe in Crouch End or Regent's Park?

I've been contemplating starting a similar thread but too shy by half, and also ave been quite a quiet mumsnetter recently.

Anyway I'm definitely up for a meet up. I live in Islington so either of the mentioned places would be good.
My ds is just 1, I also have a 6 year old dd so anything would have to take into account school picking up time.
Surely there must be more in our area?

suzywong · 12/01/2004 21:02

yes please
Regents Park more fun for kids than Crouchy IMO

Davros · 12/01/2004 22:39

I'm game, Regents Park fine. 9 mos girl and 8 yr old to collect from school. Maomao where are you too?

bundle · 13/01/2004 14:45

we're in finsbury park, I have two dd's - 3.5yrs and 8.5 months - both at nursery 3 days a week. would prefer crouch end in terms of transport with my 2, but will go with the flow

august24 · 13/01/2004 20:47

I tried to post this earlier, but do not see it now. I would like to join you all. I have two girls, 2 and 5(soon to be 3 and 6) We live in Crouch End

Davros · 14/01/2004 10:24

Sorry to put a spanner in the works, what about somewhere like Kenwood? Its between the 2 places, lots of space and nice cafe/garden?????

prettycandles · 14/01/2004 14:57

Can I join in? Kenwood would be good for me and ds 3.4y and dd 13m.

suzywong · 14/01/2004 15:00

Yes Yes Kenwood,
They can run around and go bonkers while we take turns marshalling and having cups of tea

Of course I will go with the flow as would be delighted to meet you all, it's just that I know from experience that DS1 won't sit still in a Crouch End cafe - but there are some great spots for adults aren't there, so may be we could do a day time and a grown-up evening one?

bundle · 14/01/2004 15:10

sounds ok, but given the weather should we go for more of an indoor/outdoor option (I know the cafe there has lots of steps down to it, dh had to get the ice creams in the summer & leave me at the top )

suzywong · 14/01/2004 15:13

Hello again bundle, delighted to find out you are local

There is a ramp at Kenwood but it'll be a bummer if it's wet. Indoor out doors in N.London mmm.. let me think.

There's a soft play centre in Wood Green but won't be much fun for us sitting in plastic garden chairs and drinking vending machine tea.

Maybe we should have two options close by and let the weather decide which one we go for.

Any suggestions?

suzywong · 14/01/2004 15:22

Fine Day
Highate Woods? nice cafe and good playground for all ages.
Stationers Park in Crouch End, but no cafe
The playground at the H Heath, by the railway at Gospel Oak has a cafe nearby
Regents park near the sausage cafe

Rainy
Wagamamas in Camden is very kid friendly
We could book out the back few tables in Banners in CE and let the kids do colouring etc.

Posey · 14/01/2004 21:37

Trying to rack my brains for an indoor venue, but come up with a blank I'm afraid!
I'm happy to go with the general flow. Helpful aren't I?!

Davros · 14/01/2004 22:27

Going back to the playground on Hampstead Heath (Parliament Hill) nr Gospel Oak, there's the cafe there but also the 1 O'Clock club which is a little drop in play centre. In my old days with my 8 year old son when he was little, we used to go in the morning from about 10am or the afternoon from (ho ho) 1 O'clock!! I still like the idea of Kenwood though if its nice......

ragtaggle · 14/01/2004 22:55

Can I join in?I'm in highbury/ Finsbury park so all these places sound good to me. My dd is only 3 and a half months old - is that okay?

Welshmum · 17/01/2004 14:21

Ooooh good - would a Friday suit everyone? Maybe in the morning?
If we went for the Regent's Park option - near the Boathouse cafe, the play area and the ducks then if it was wet we could make it the Camden Wagamamas....is that any good as a plan. (they are lovely to children in the Boathouse...gave ours free ladles of soup and endless smiles and chats)

Posey · 17/01/2004 20:42

Fridays are good for me. I really don't have any preference for where we meet up. Regents Park is fine with me.

august24 · 17/01/2004 21:15

I forgot to put that I am going on holiday and won't be back until February 1st. I will watch this thread when I get back to join you all on the next one(or if it isn't until February I will join you anywhere!)

Davros · 18/01/2004 16:53

I would like to come but couldn't make any sooner than 6th Feb if its a Friday. Also morning could be a problem as my baby always has a morning nap. I could get her back to bed early and come after or we could meet early and she could nap when we get back home. Someone pick a date and place.......

prettycandles · 18/01/2004 21:11

Just to be awkward, I'd rather do a Monday or Tuesday, as I have to pick ds up from nursery at 12 on W, Th, F.

pie · 18/01/2004 21:13

Are you guys DEFINITELY meeting in Regents park then?

hoxtonchick · 18/01/2004 23:43

Can we come too? Regent's Park is cool, & can I be cheeky & say Tuesday is best for me, or could do Fri at a push.

suzywong · 18/01/2004 23:47

OOOOOh is it Regent's Park now?

I'll try and fit in with the rest but would prefer a Tuesday then I can bring both kids.

Davros · 19/01/2004 00:17

OK, so someone suggest a Tuesday and a time! I can't do any sooner than 10th Feb if a Tues but please go ahead and I'll come next time.....

hoxtonchick · 19/01/2004 07:34

Why don't we do Tuesday 10th Feb, so Davros can come.

prettycandles · 19/01/2004 14:33

I second Tuesday 20 Feb, though I admit the idea of going anywhere by tube on my own with 2 kids is scarey!

Does anyone know whether the cafe in Golders Hill Park has opened again?
