Oooh, I missed Anneka Rice music woman??? Is this a neighbour?

Sounds like an interesting place you've moved too!

Watched Eurovision and think it is definitely time we now gave it up as a bad job - what a joke!

TheScottishPlayer · 27/05/2012 21:41

Terrible Internet coverage so won't post much. Had a fab day at Thomas Land today.

LaGuerta · 29/05/2012 15:11

Annika Rice is a perfectly normal pleasant woman who is trying to set up her own music classes. However, as soon as the class starts she morphs into a cross between Annika Rice in her most OTT "Challenge Annika" days and your standard CBeebies presenter. The icing on the cake is that she does so whilst sitting with her legs spread wide regardless of what she is wearing.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 29/05/2012 19:34

Oh yes, I remember now!! Grin

TheScottishPlayer · 29/05/2012 19:44

DH has just taken DS up to our fab apartment so enjoying some complimentary wine and cheese in the 'social' area of serviced apartment place we're staying is. As younger folk would say - totes amaze. Grin

Grin Wink

Hope all's well with everyone - having a fab time in Hannover, although it's not as warm here as it is back in England!

Love from Pirate the Thread Killer Smile.

Still on Staycation - back home tonight.

Where is everyone this week?

LaGuerta · 02/06/2012 07:38

Have a great holiday. X

LaGuerta · 02/06/2012 07:41

This week I have been trying to choose wallpaper and paint as the decorator has been here and I need to be one step ahead of what he is painting!

I am also sweating it over having 25+ friends over tomorrow for a house warming, and then I leafleted the neighbours saying do drop in Hmm because it wasn't difficult enough all ready

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 02/06/2012 20:56

Ooh, can't wait to see everything you've done in a couple of weeks LG - Grin at your huge party, that is brave!

We are having such a lovely time in Hannover - perfect way to relax Smile.

disguisedeb · 02/06/2012 22:05

LaG - wow, 25 and then extra neighbours, good luck

Pirate who is it that you've gone to see in hannover? And how was your birthday?

SP - saw your post from near wetherby, next time(probably next year) you'll have to let me know and you could have stopped at Scotch corner for a coffee break and we could have met!

Saying that though I've been at the village carnival today, bloody freezing it was. Ethan dressed up as a chef thanks to sainsbury's - there were some impressive home-made outfits. We've just been back to a music night inthe village hall, but it was a bit too loud for my old ears and Ethan's young ones so we've just come in and I can't hear a peep from him, despite him saying he'd wait up to say n night to the boys.

Gig, how are things going with you and your 2 girls.

Half term now and I'm so glad Grin, am still working for the next few weeks at least.

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 03/06/2012 08:54

Hi Deb, I'm surprised to read all the weather reports as I thought this weekend was supposed to be lovely. Is it raining in England?

My birthday was amazing thank you - and we are having a lovely holiday. We are staying with friends of my PILs. MiL and our host have been friends since they were 15 Shock! They met via the Bristol-Hannover exchange and have stayed in touch ever since. Dh saw them twice a year while growing up. Margret doesn't have any GC as one of her sons is estranged (has one daughter whom Margret has never seen Sad) and the other son has Downs. Margret was widowed a few years ago and is now with a new partner but sadly he doesn't have GC either Sad. They both adore children and are now becoming like surrogate GPs to the boys which is lovely. I didn't have a good relationship with any of my GPs when growing up so the more GPs I can collect for the boys the better Smile.

So Margret invited us here and we have free run of her house (she is staying with her partner) and they have lent us a car, bought bike seats and car seats from ebay and organised toys and books for the boys and a night out for us Smile. Their kindness and generosity is amazing Smile.

Anyway, the boys are running riot so better go - we're off out on the bikes in half an hour or so and I can't wait. Have been trying to persuade dh to get bike seats for years but he wasn't keen, thankfully he is now agreeing to it because Margaret suggested it Hmm.

Have a lovely day all x

disguisedeb · 05/06/2012 21:45

Oh Pirate that is so lovely, I saw all the toys and books and thought wherever you were staying was well prepared for you. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.x

TheScottishPlayer · 06/06/2012 12:46

Hi everyone. Back to reality for me this week - first day back at work today!

How is everyone? LaG - I hope the party went well. Pirate - your holiday sounded fab, are you back yet? Your hosts sound lovely.

We had a mostly great time. DS did struggle with all the travelling/disruption I think. He was a nightmare towards the end of the week. One morning was particularly bad, but he flaked out in the afternoon and slept for over 3 hours so I think that was the problem!! Thomas Land was fab - well worth a visit if any of you are in the part of the country at any time.

Weather was brilliant for the first half of the week - a bit hit in miss in Yorkshire and then at home. Raining properly today.

Deb - it occured to me when we were driving home that I'd missed an opportunity to see you! We pretty much drive up the A1 until around newcastle - is it easy to get to you from somewhere along there? Must remember for next time.

TheScottishPlayer · 06/06/2012 22:42

Random question (because AIBU is too scary). DS's nursery are setting up a new fb page to showcase what they do, allow parents another way to see what they're doing etc. However, it will be completely open. AIBU to opt DS out of it so they can't use photos of him?

LaGuerta · 07/06/2012 17:30

YANBU Smile

Glad you had fun last week.

House warming was really good but hard work getting ready an a bit manic during. Liked eating the leftovers though.

A bit down today because my Dad was admitted to hospital yesterday and now has to stay in until he gets a heart bypass op. He was diagnosed with angina in March. Then told two weeks ago that he needed a heart bypass. He started to feel unwell on Tuesday and went in yesterday and was admitted. Sad

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 07/06/2012 21:05

SP, respect to you for doing that much driving with a nearly-4 year old! The photos were lovely - looked like you had a fab time.

I'm very Hmm about an open FB page for a nursery. I went to the Christmas show at DS1's pre-school and the pre-school leader read us the riot act on putting photos on FB - she said we could take photos but if it got back to her that a single one had ended up on FB then photos would be banned for good! There are so many complications with schools, nurseries, etc using photos - with children from estranged families, adoptions, etc. I would opt your DS out and I say that as someone who is usually mega-relaxed about pictures Sad.

LG, so sorry to hear about your dad Sad. My dad has heart problems too and it is so stressful, esp when you have little ones and feel you can't be there in the way you would normally. (((((((((((LG)))))))))))

TheScottishPlayer · 07/06/2012 21:17

LaG - so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he doesn't have to wait too long for his op.

Thanks for the YANBU! I'm very Hmm about it. I have no problem putting pics of DS on my private fb, but on a public page? And, while I'm not someone who gets all paranoid and conspiracy theory about fb, if you make photos public you do give fb the authority to do what they want with them. And there's a DS's right to privacy as well. Apparently only 20 people out of 250 children have opted out?!?!?

LaGuerta · 08/06/2012 07:59

Thanks for your good wishes. I spoke to him last night and he was all choked up. Sad I am planning to go and visit at the weekend. Seeing as he is now taking up a bed, it's in the hospital's interests to get him an op I would assume Confused. The consultant thought 7-10 days. And it will be at a bigger hospital in Bristol 40 miles from their home. It has occurred to me that this might get tangled up with the drs strike though. We are in for a challenging few weeks as FIL is having a hip replaced on 3 July, and DH is stressed with work, so helping my Mum (who has bad arthritis) is going to be very difficult.

Oh, and a 4 yo rainbow party to sort out too Wink

TheScottishPlayer · 08/06/2012 22:27

I was going to send some (((((hugs))))) LaG, but maybe Wine might help more. Sounds like a tough time. Do let us know how your dad gets on. Sorry to hear that DH is stressed at work too.

A rainbow party eh? Any plans for it? I'm feeling quite chuffed at designing some pirate invitations on the computer last night. They're not as nice as the ones I almost bought, but they look pretty smart and they're pretty much free as I can just print them myself. I have however lost my notebook with all my party ideas which is stressing me out a bit.

Anyone else have any plans for impending 4th birthdays?

Gig - how are things with you? Are you back in France?

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 09/06/2012 08:20

Oh no LG, you have got a lot on your plate Sad. Sorry to hear about dh too - very difficult for you.

SP, we're doing pottery painting this Friday at DS1's request!! Then moving onto Legoland (of course!). I really couldn't contemplate a party at home - and the weather forecast is crap so glad I didn't go for one!

TheScottishPlayer · 09/06/2012 08:57

Sounds fun Pirate. We've hired a hall for the party - I couldn't contemplate anything at home either!

SurprisinglyCurvaceousPirate · 10/06/2012 23:34

Sensible woman! Grin

Well my lovely relaxed holiday mood was pretty much destroyed by a w/e with the MIL Angry. Can't even begin to describe how much she has pissed me off this weekend, and in so many ways. Hmm
